Located at the northern end of Maya Beach, the narrowest part of the Placencia Peninsula, in the Stann Creek District, is Ocean’s Edge Beach Houses, approximately 100 miles south of Belize City, and 6 miles north of the Placencia Airstrip.
Ocean’s Edge is one of the few properties on the peninsula offering our guests exclusive private access lagoon to beach with private dock. Where else can you experience both a sunrise and a sunset ? This secluded beach front to lagoon property has 2 spacious beach houses, the Ara Macao and Blue Tang, and our groundskeeper Julio’s quarters. A wooden sidewalk provides easy access from the road to both houses as well as a view of the beautiful tropical plants on the property.
The houses were constructed using indigenous Belizean materials, Mexican terracotta, local hardwoods, mahogany and wicker furniture. The main floor has a living area with a futon which can provide an extra bed, comfortable chairs, a lounger; bathroom with large walk-in shower; equipped kitchen area, including full sized refrigerator, microwave, toast, coffee maker, blender, and stove/oven. Upstairs is a spacious loft bedroom, with lots of storage space and a queen sized bed overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Our self-accommodating houses are equipped with sheets, towels, beach towels and kitchen linens. Wi-Fi is available. The houses are cooled with ceiling & floor fans, and the sea breezes. Added amenities include housekeeping or laundry service if required.
Enjoy the ocean front view from the hammock on your deck, or comfortable deck chairs. For those adventurous to try out their Belizean cooking, there is a gas barbq available for your use, and we have provided you with a patio table and chairs on your deck for dining under the stars ! There are additional chairs and loungers on the beach, as well as a beach shower to rinse off the salt water. The private dock is a great place to relax in the hammocks or chairs – your choice! A ladder from the swimming platform allows easy access into the water.
Have some fun kayaking to False Caye, a small mangrove island off shore in our complimentary 2-seater kayak, or launch your kayak across the street on our lagoon lot and enjoy the calm water of the lagoon, with views of the rugged Maya Mountains. If you want to explore Maya Beach and beyond, we have bicycles available for your use. No time for grocery shopping – no problem, we will be happy to stock your fridge for your arrival. The grocery store is conveniently located within a half mile of the property. If you prefer restaurants, try one of our award winning restaurants in Maya Beach and further south along the Peninsula. Why not rent both houses and enjoy exclusive use of the property with family and friends.
Wander into the safe, shallow water off the beach, relax under the shelter of the breezy palm trees, the cooling shade of a palapa on the beach, or in a hammock.
Ocean’s Edge is your perfect secluded tropical paradise !

As a couple, we appreciated the privacy, space and ocean views. The gardens are amazing and the long deck with hammocks was our favorite spot. With a constant breeze and a few shady spots, we did enjoy the whole day outside. The cottage is perfect for a week or more as it is quite large. As the cottage has all you need for cooking, we enjoyed most breakfast and a few dinners at 'home'. Our fishing trip was a success so we opted for eating in a few nights. Many excellent restaurants nearby for reasonable price. Good grocery store just a few minutes from the cottage where you can find everything you need. Make sure to plan a snorkeling trip as the reef and variety of fish is one of the best in the world. This cottage on the beach is very good value for money!
Ocean's Edge had a magical pull for both my boyfriend and I. We were looking for a private getaway, without being in a hotel chain, where we were able to call our retreat our "home away from home" and it was just that. When we arrived, we were the only guests and had the private beach to ourselves for a few days prior to our neighbor checking into their house (two houses share the beach) and surprise, it was Virginia - a guest who has stayed at these houses a few times and we couldn't have lucked out with a better neighbor! Although we had a neighbor, we still felt like it was our very own private special place and it was great to also have the resources of someone who had been here before and knew the lay of the land! Every morning, my boyfriend and I found ourselves waking up right before sunrise to witness some of the most beautiful sunrises from the cozy chairs or hammocks under the pilapa, before finding ourselves slowly getting ready to do anything or nothing at all. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and we enjoyed the fresh coconuts, figuring out how to husk them and then cook with them as well. We did utilize the bicycles as well as the kayaks during our stay and would advise guests to do so as well. If you are staying here, and are looking to go into town (Placencia) at all, either rent a car or just learn the bus schedule. The bus schedule is super easy to learn and is super cheap ($2 one way into Placencia, the stop is across the street from the houses) but please bear in mind that the last trip going back to Maya Beach leaves Placencia at 2:30pm. Ocean's Edge Beach Houses is literally one dock away from the best restaurant, Maya Beach Bistro, that we ate at and we felt like we lived there for happy hour daily and fell in love with their staff who welcomed us like we were locals. Staying at Ocean's Edge has spoiled me and it is hard to find future accommodations in other countries as my expectations are now really high. Thank you for being great to work with throughout my planning process, Frankie, as she was patient with me while planning this trip as I had plenty of questions from the get go! We can't wait for our return back to Belize and Ocean's Edge! I am still dreaming of Belize...
Ocean’s Edge is a wonderful place. My husband and I have enjoyed this place on several occasions. The beach is very private (as we like to lay out nude) and the house is very comfortable. It is so much fun to sit on the beach and watch the wildlife during the day and in the evening when the raccoons come to feed on bread that we leave out.
If you are looking for a quiet and private place, with beautiful flowers and vegetation…Ocean’s Edge is the place for you. The owners Mike and Frankie are great to work with as well as the property managers. We have always rented a car and driven to Ocean’s Edge. It is a beautiful drive and Belize is a safe country to travel.
The owners have a notebook filled things to see and do, so come and enjoy the hidden treasures of Belize….what a beautiful place!! ? We recommend the Monkey River Tour as well as Cyrila’s Chocolate, this is a great adventure back in time when chocolate was made totally by hand and the owners are wonderful.
Our recent trip required a vacation rental that provided privacy, peace and quiet, and Ocean'sEdge delivered on all of these and more. The property itself is separated from other properties and is landscaped to provide privacy from the road. Choice of plants and trees will give a sense of tranquility the minute you step through the gates. The houses ,mirror images of one another, contain everything you need. We managed to rent both to ensure privacy and the sole use of the dock. The lack of AC was never an issue as there was a constant breeze flowing through, but there are many fans to use if needed. The absolute best feature of these houses is the outdoor space. The pictures are accurate, white soft sand, outdoor shower, lots of places to sit and an amazing dock. We spent most of our time in the dock, reading, swimming and hammocking! Even dolphin watching with our coffee early one morning. One of the best restaurants , Maya Beach hotel, is within walking distance, great food and a bonus is that they also sell marvellous baguettes , bagels, and muffins to take away! We were thankful for the bicycles to tour around the area and pick up a few groceries .The owner was fantastic to deal with, before , during and after our trip. She was so helpful and offered honest and accurate advice. The houses have one of the best house books we have seen in a rental .There is a lot of construction beginning on the whole Placencia pennisula so plan a visit soon! Amazing people and place..will return!
We spent our 20th anniversary at Ocean's Edge. What a wonderful time we had. The beach was fabulous and the house very comfortable. One thing that really impressed us the was the fact that the pictures on this website are truly representative of what you are getting. There were no surprises.
We enjoyed the kayak, the restaurants near by and the relaxation.
We will definitely be back.
Our stay at Ocean's Edge was absolutely perfect! From the comfortable and tastefully decorated beach houses to the quite serenity of the gorgeous property all within close proximity to restaurants, local shops and many tourist attractions. The 100 foot ocean pier with it's covered palapa and hammocks was splendid for morning coffee and evening cocktails! The beach houses are fully equipped to prepare delicious dinners and dine
alfresco if you wish. The property is exquisite and very well maintained by the resident grounds keeper. The ocean is literally at your door step with your own private
beach....superb! Everything has been thought of...ocean kayaks, bicycles, snorkeling
equipment, BBQ and comfortable beach loungers. This was our first stay at Ocean's Edge but certainly not our last....a true GEM!!!
