This restored Mid-Century Modern Krisel designed Palm Springs Vacation home was built by the celebrated Alexander Construction Co. in 1959. Located in famous Vista Las Palmas, it has spectacular mountain views, desert landscaping, a huge remodeled swimming pool surrounded with cool green lawn, and a new in-ground spa. Inside you'll find vaulted tongue and groove ceilings, gorgeous porcelain tile floors, entire walls of glass doors opening onto the patio and pool area, and Mid-Century furnishings by classic designers such as Platner, Nelson and Eames, as well as new modern classics from Design Within Reach and Herman Miller. The décor is complemented by vintage mid-century abstract paintings in each room.
The new kitchen has clean and modern lines, with mosaic tile back splash, quartz counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Dine at the huge center island, which is great for entertaining. Enjoy gorgeous mountain views out of the clerestory windows, which fill the room with light.
This home features the famous Palmer and Krisel open floor plan, perfect for entertaining with family and friends. The furnishings include a beautiful, original Platner chrome and glass dining table which seats 6 to 8 people, as well as mid-century modern chairs and teak modular wall unit. The kitchen and dining room are open to the expansive living room, with its walls of sliding glass doors that lead to the private pool and yard. Enjoy movies on the 55” flat screen LCD TV with Blu-Ray player and surround sound. Free WiFi access is available from anywhere in the house.
The elegantly tiled floors continue throughout the home, including both remodeled bathrooms, which also feature cool, modern tiles in the showers, as well as new chrome fixtures and washbasins. The master bedroom boasts a modern King sized bed, vintage mid-century Danish and 21st Century furnishings, luxurious mattress and linens, as well as a flat screen TV. The second bedroom also features a comfy, new mattress, linens, and flat screen TV, and a vintage Danish modern armchair. The middle bedroom feautures a queen sized bed, vintage danish side table and an Eames side chair.
Outdoors, your private yard includes a covered patio with comfortable modern outdoor sofa and armchairs. Grill lunch or dinner on the stainless steel gas BBQ and enjoy it poolside or under the covered patio, at the large table with seating for six. What makes this House unique
We love our Palm Springs Vacation home in Vista Las Palmas for so many reasons: only moments from downtown Palm Springs by car, or a short walk or bike ride, the amazing views like no where else in Palm Springs, the bright open rooms, the fantastic mid-century design and the huge pool and new spa, perfect for swimming or lounging. We have furnished the house with a cool mix of mid-century and modern pieces, to capture the unique Palm Springs experience. It is so convenient to be walking distance to downtown, with great restaurants, shops and bars, as well as 5 minutes from the aerial tramway and mountain canyons, with hiking, biking and sightseeing. We know you are going to love it too!

Loved everything about this home, particularly the well thought-out outdoor layout.
The only thing I'd change is the living room furniture; there is comfortable seating for only 3 people.
This property is outstanding. The neighborhood is top drawer and the house is well-located in it, close to the mountains. The views of the mountains from the pool and the kitchen are terrific. The spotless house itself is very well-decorated in the mid-century modern style by someone who has excellent taste. Basically you get one large room (with a gas fireplace) for living, dining, and cooking, and three bedrooms. The master bedroom is large and has its own bath; the other two rooms share a bath accessible from the hall. The kitchen is well-equipped and there is an outdoor gas grill. The pool and environs are very attractive, and the outdoor lights make it most attractive after dark as well. A very nice feature is the outdoor shower. A twenty-minute walk into town is do-able and very pleasant. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Palm Springs. I highly recommend this house and the neighborhood. I have no suggestions for improvements. It's all good.
We Love Las Palmas
We had a smashing time at Rose Avenue and plan to book it again next year. The privacy of the pool area was the highlight... The home was nicely appointed and comfy with fabulous views of the mountains. Great neighborhood for walking into town! Our only complaint was construction going on behind the pool area. No one's fault, otherwise we would have ranked it a perfect 5.
Great Family Vacation, Vintage Palm Springs Experience
We recently stayed at this beautiful Vista Las Palmas home in early March. We reserved this week well in advance to coordinate with the beginning of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament in Indian Wells. This is one of the busiest weeks in the Palm Springs area. Russell, the owner, was very responsive to all of our questions when we booked the house. Bob was our host when we arrived and gave us a great introduction to enjoying the property during our week-long stay.
My wife and I were joined by both of our daughters and a son-in-law as well so we had a total party of five adults. And speaking for all of us, we had a fantastic vacation experience. The house is tucked right against the mountains so the pool and kitchen window views are gorgeous. The property is spacious, especially the outdoor areas. To our delight, the pool was heated perfectly and we've found this can be an issue with other properties in Palm Springs this time of year. The outdoor shower was so good! We frequently used both the outdoor dining table and the covered lounge area. We also enjoyed playing bocce ball on one warm afternoon.
Although we had plenty of warm days in the 80's, Palm Springs cools down quite a bit in the evenings so the indoor gas fireplace was on most evenings and makes the living room quite cozy. We found it pretty easy to control the temperature of the house at about 72 degrees without using the AC or heat very much at all.
The house is nicely stocked with just about everything you'd want in your own house. There are plenty of towels for the pools and bathrooms and it's nice to have a washer and dryer, if needed. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need from morning coffee to evening poolside barbecues.
Not only is Vista Las Palmas a beautiful neighborhood but it's also about a 15-minute walk to downtown Palm Springs. Both of my daughters walked downtown on a couple of occasions - it's a nice option to not have to get into a car to go someplace. When we did go out in Palm Springs, we had some great meals and entertainment at Lulu's, Bill's Pizza, Sherman's Delicatessen, The Purple Room, Bootlegger Tiki, The Draughtman, and more.
In summary, all of these elements combined to create a truly unique and authentic Palm Springs experience. Hopefully we will return in the near future!
Gorgeous views. Great pool.
We have rented this house for a week in February for 3 years in a row. The pool are is spacious and has great views of the mountains. The house itself is very comfortable with a bright spacious kitchen with views of the pool. It's close enough to walk to dinner at many places downtown. The neighborhood of Los Palmas is quiet and beautiful. Great for walking or biking. The house is well maintained and the manager is very attentive.
Perfect location and House
It took me a long time to find the perfect house in the perfect area to celebrate my anniversary and 50th. This house was exactly what it advertised! You are living amongst the most beautiful houses and neighborhood so convenient to everything. Nuzzled up against the Arroyos, you can easily forget that you are so close to town. Sun rise and sun set are fantastic with the glow against the back drop. The beds are really comfortable with great linens. The Vischy shower heads are awesome! Both the hot tub and pool warm up nicely. If the neighbors hadn’t been under reconstruction and a bit noisy we would have never left the house!
I’m so happy that you loved the house and and appreciated the style and comforts that it provides, as well as the truly fantastic location. I’m so sorry to hear about the construction noise. I had no idea that was happening. I’ll definitely stop by to find out what’s happening, as I want my guests to have the most relaxing and comfortable experience possible.
