About Elizabeth Fossum

We are a family of 4, with a son in kindergarten and a daughter in college. We rent out to families or groups that are respectful of our home and love the Colorado lifestyle as much as we do. We are animal lovers but keep our animals at home so this can be a comfortable place for those with allergies.

Elizabeth Fossum purchased this townhome in 2009

Why Elizabeth Fossum chose Southwestern Colorado

We've been CB fans ever since ski-bumming here in the 90s and feel fortunate to call it our home away from home today - a vibrant, funky, one-of-a-kind town surrounded by a mountain playground offering endless opportunities for fun, recreation, and relaxation!

What makes this townhome unique

We have a private and quiet location on the end of a 5-unit building. Great neighbors who live there year-round. Wonderful fast sledding hill in the backyard! Sunny, clean, and fully stocked with everything from spices to condiments to shampoo and conditioner and lotion - save yourself the hassle and cost of having to buy or bring the basics! We have a coveted enclosed detached garage with a second outdoor parking spot in front of it. Many many places for rent in CB don't have enclosed parking! We are right on the bus loop, so you can get to the lifts within minutes either by walking or taking the bus. In fact, if you fly in to Gunnison, you can take the bus right to the house, to the town, and to the ski resort- no need for a rental car!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I can up with my husband for a little R&R. It was still muddy on some of our hikes but the flowers were already starting to appear and we had a great time in town before the heavy tourist season started. Mostly what we wanted was peace and quiet and we got it. The house was really comfortable and spacious and had a lot of extras beyond what you'd find at a hotel but for the same price.

Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at spice of life. Beautiful location, and only a 7 min walk to the lift. Kitchen is well stocked with spices and cooking pots and pans. We were able to prepare all meals here with no problem. Lots of extra blankets and towels so we were able to fit 8 of us comfortably. We had to get in touch with the owners once during the stay and they were very responsive.

Clean and comfy

  • 4 of 5

Very well kept condo. Unit was clean and beds were comfortable. Everything was exactly as advertised - though it probably could use a new coffee maker. Overall, very good value priced unit. Owner was a pleasure to work with and was quick to respond questions. As others have mentioned the staircase from the driveway to the unit is pretty steep, but was kept pretty clear of ice and snow during our stay. 15 minute shuttle ride to the mountain. The garage was small, so if you have full size truck or SUV you will probably need to leave it in the driveway. This condo is probably best for groups of 4 or less people.

Best stocked condo with comfort and location

  • 4 of 5

As noted by others, this condo is well stacked with all the basics for the kitchen, bathrooms, and cleaning supplies. Very comfortable furniture and most important - beds. It is very child friendly. Daughter, son-n-law and 11 month old granddaughter stayed with us so having a pack and play and various toys was a plus.

Parking is for two cars, one in a garage and one outside the garage door. This is a benefit, especially with limited spaces normally available and more limited in ski season.

Location provides easy access to skiing and to downtown. It is away from Gothic Road, so no road noise makes it quiet.

Great Stay in a Very Comfortable Condo

  • 5 of 5

We had stayed in this condo last year and really liked it. This year it was comfortable and clean again. Having a basically stocked kitchen, a washer and dryer, and two bathrooms for two bedrooms makes it a perfect fit for my friend and me. The only two issues were the backdoor screen which was partially torn out and the lamp shade that wouldn't stay on the lamp. I would stay in this condo again.

Owner's Response: Hi Anita, Thank you for your wonderful review. I also appreciate you mentioning the screen and lampshade so we could take care of it. It should be all corrected now. I really appreciate your return visit. Please contact us again and we would be happy to accommodate you! We will also offer you a return guest discount. Very best, Elizabeth

Fabulous home, great location

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Spice of Life. The 2 story home (living down, bedrooms up) was clean, neat, and very well stocked. Plenty of seating for 6 in the living area with a great view of the mountains. Each area has it's own thermostat which made it possible for me to stay cool in my bedroom while the other rooms stayed cozy. Having the washer and dryer in the unit was wonderful and made keeping up with muddy socks and wet clothes so easy.

Easy access to the mountain and town. Some days we walked to the ski slopes (10 mins) and some days we rode the bus which picks you up right in front of the house.

Downside would be that guest parking is limited and the 3 flights of stairs down to the house can get very slick. The caretaker who lives on site did a very good job of removing snow and keeping the steps as clear as possible.

Thank you Spice of Life for helping to make our vacation a huge success.

Owner's Response: Hi Glenda, Thank you for the thoughtful response. Glad to know you were comfortable and enjoyed the amazing views! We are thrilled to have such an amazing caretaker, as he is always working hard to keep the steps cleared. It does help that the flights are not too with landings in between. I also like the ability to change the temperature in each room. We added a couple of humidifiers for the rooms as well because it can get pretty dry here in Colorado. Please let us know when you are returning. We would be happy to offer you a return discount. Crested Butte has some amazing wildflowers and wonderful summer events. Best, Elizabeth
