About the property

4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6 (+)

Simple and spacious four bedroom bungalow on a tree-lined street just over a mile to South Shore Beach and about a half mile to the Commons. This classic Little Compton home is a perfect retreat after a day at the beach or digging clams on the river. Enjoy the partially enclosed, screened front porch, the back patio area or yard & garden for taking in afternoon breezes and enjoying meals outside.

Groceries, supplies, shopping: Little Compton has a small, local general store — Wilburs General Store — in the Commons, which sells groceries, small hardware and household items, as well as gifts and toys. We also have a local gas station and convenience store, Earles, located just beyond the Commons on Meeting House Lane and right next to Goularts Package Store. For a more extensive grocery selection, Lees Market is just a short drive away (±10 miles) in Westport. Little Compton also has a post office, coffee shop, galleries, a Sovereign bank/ATM and a Bank of American ATM, and a few restaurants right in and around the Commons. For our visitors closer to Adamsville, there are additional package and general stores as well.

Beaches: Little Compton’s main town beach on the ocean is South Shore Beach located at the end of South Shore Road. A per-car fee is charged for parking; weekly passes are available. Get there early on hot, sticky days as the parking lot has a tendency to fill up and there is no other parking in the immediate area. Other town ocean beaches are available on Sakonnet Point and at the Town Landing. Tenants also have access to the Sakonnet River via Town Way and Taylors Lane. None of our rentals have passes available for Briggs or Warren’s Point Beaches.

Things to Do: Little Compton is rural in nature and boasts beautiful beaches, ponds and recreational areas. Antique, fine art, decorative crafts and boutique shops can be found just minutes away in nearby Tiverton Four Corners and Westport’s Central Village.

Perfect for young family!

  • 5 of 5

We love this house! We have rented here twice and found it to be the perfect place for our family (4 kids 12 and under.) Ots quiet, clean, uncluttered and conveniently located close to town and beach. The realitors were professional to work with and the family who owns the property even mailed us some things we left behind. (Things most people would probably toss like forgotten toy, a pair of flip flops and a hairbrush.) I Highly recommend this property!

Great rental and terrific price!

Group of old friends came to LC, rhode island's best kept secret, for a birthday party and had an all out great time. This house has all you need, on a huge piece of tree lined land. Our group was comfortable, happy and just felt like we had all we needed here. The cottage is also adorable. The ONLY thing, and I really mean the only thing we could have used more of was window fans. But beyond that, it was an amazing deal. Just moments from town, near a great beach. Rhode Island at it's best.

Great house

  • 5 of 5

This house is absolutely wonderful. It is clean and bright with windows facing a well kept yard and garden. The bedrooms are large and quiet. A washer and dryer are located in the kitchen which makes them easy to use. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances and cookware to put together your meals. The kitchen table is located in a small alcove and fits four people nicely.

There is an outdoor shower which is a must. The patio is large with a picnic table and BBQ.

The house is located in a quiet neighborhood with very few cars passing by. There is a short drive into the center of town where you can purchase groceries and gifts at Wilbur's General Store. For special treats, salads and sandwiches visit Wilma's at Walker's Bakery and Cafe on West Main Road.

South Shore beach is only a couple minutes away from the house.

I would definately rent this home again.

The coastal town of Little Compton, RI perfectly blends the history of its rural beginnings with the beautiful seaside community that has grown up with it. You enter the town with a sense of disconnect from the rest of the hustle and bustle and feel your tension fade away as you pass open fields and views of river and ocean. Enjoy sea breezes and the sounds of nature. The Town Commons is at the center of town where the restaurants, coffee shops, general store, gas station, post office, library and churches are located. Summer brings back our visiting friends, abundant local farm stands and seasonal events. A great place for a getaway from everyday life and relax on the beach!
