David Hoeh and Brigid Sullivan are happy to welcome you to our idealistic setting in the Green Mountains of south central Vermont. We feel fortunate to be able to enjoy the beautiful seasons of Vermont and want to share it with our guests. We are experienced world travelers and understand what you need to be comfortable away from home. David's ancestors were early settlers in Mount Holly. He has spent some time here every year of his life. He loves to share local history and his knowledge of great spots to visit. In the summer and fall enjoy the vegetables and herbs from our gardens.
Brigid Sullivan purchased this apartment in 1990
The apartment, attached to our home, with the same spectacular views, is a secret hide away. It is on a dead-end dirt road in a tiny, wonderful Vermont hamlet. At the opposite end of our living areas, the apartment is private and cozy. The property has been David's summer home since the 1940's.
The landscape is beautiful and it is so peaceful and quiet here. You can hear the winds whispering in the trees or howling in a blizzard and then it is quiet again. The skies are clear at night and the stars are spectacular. Venturing outdoors at night is an amazing experience to be cherished. Walk to the village for coffee and pastry or a sandwich. Enjoy the lake with a refreshing swim or ice skating or fishing. Don't forget your camera as every day is different and the scenery is stunning.
The Village is charming with the historical museum open on weekends. Family style dinners at the Odd Fellow Hall are delicious and a taste of real Vermont. Fireworks and the bonfire, skating and hot chocolate on New Years Eve are right out of Currier and Ives.
Music on the Green during the summer is a relaxing way to spend a great evening.
Wow. What an amazing experience from top to bottom Brigid and David's Loft provided myself and my family. The Loft was beautiful, spacious, clean, and had every single amenity we could ever hope to have on a vacation. I loved that we had a full kitchen to make ourselves breakfast every morning and look out onto the beautiful landscape. Brigid and David were both very welcoming and gave us advice on how to explore Vermont. We also had fun with their dog who led us on a hike off the property on the first day there. We had such a great time that I can't wait to book another stay!
This rental was the bright spot in our very chilly stay. We had the misfortune of choosing one of the coldest weekends of the winter for a ski weekend at Okemo however this rental brightened our visit tremendously. We stayed with our two teenage sons and there was plenty of room for everyone. The architecture is beautiful with a high cathedral ceiling, exposed beams and hardwood floors. The beds were comfortable and the unit was clean. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and supplies for cleaning up and the overall unit is bright and well-lit. Since it was so cold, Brigid supplied us with packets of hand and feet warmers to use on the mountain as well as extra heaters to use in the apartment. We used the space heaters only sparingly however because the unit is also well-insulated and warm. One word of caution that an all-wheel drive vehicle is a necessity in the winter months - not all roads are treated. Overall this rental was great.
Thank you Brigid for sharing your lovely home with us. We really enjoyed staying there. The girls didn't want to leave the loft and they wanted to take Wilder home with them.
It was such a great homey place to come back to after skiing all day
This apartment had lovely views and a well equipped kitchen as described. Brigid even pulled out the charcoal grill w accessories when asked. There is a large snow mobile trail at the rear of the property. Okemo is maybe fifteen minutes door to door. How nice. The nest thermostat was a nice touch. Loved having a full bath. There is a shared entry to the main house to access the apartment to be mindful of if you intend on complete seclusion. A tool room or shop may be located under the apartment and noise can be heard if people are there but this only occurred one evening and was not bad. If I had to make two suggestions it may be a new mattress in the king room and a new tv. That said, the place is lovely and we'd come back. The hosts are gracious.
I had a wonderful stay at this location! It is in the heart of everything! Hiking, biking, boating! The host were the best! Extremely helpful in anything I needed help with! The accommodations were just what I was looking for and very comfortable. It is Maple Sugar time, so lots of sap flowing through tubes to make the BEST maple syrup on earth! I will be back next year for ski season, for sure!
My fiance and I stayed here for a long weekend over New Years with two other couples and had a wonderful time. The house is lovely and Brigid was very hospitable. Okemo Mountain and the town of Ludlow are a very short drive away. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area.
The only down side was - too short a period of time!!
Our hosts were fantastic and the accommodations were perfect, the girls spent all rainy day Tuesday in the Loft.
We loved being visited by Wilder the owner's dog, at our request of course. Thanks for sharing him it made us miss our Chelsea "black lab" less.
Dean, Deb, Alyse, Lauren & Emily.
Badminton, croquet, board games, puzzles and of course, The Vermont Country Store, as seen on NBC News!! Don't forget the alpine slides at Bromley or Pico Mountains and the new, year round Timber Ripper coaster at Okemo Mountain for a great adrenaline rush. We can direct you to great waterfalls and hiking trails as well as other information available.
