Circa 1800's brownstone situated in the heart of the landmark, historic district of Stuyvesant Heights. Near the new home of the 'Brooklyn Nets' ( Atlantic Yards stadium).
A four minutes walk to the A-train at Nostrand Avenue. The 'A' train is just a 15 minute express ride to lower Manhattan. In close proximity to : Bam Rose cinemas, (B.A.M - Brooklyn Academy Of Music), Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge. The area is flanked by other popular areas know for night life and tourist attractions; Fort Greene to the west, Bushwick to the east, Williamsburg to the south and Prospect Heights to the north.
Location is excellent, safe and near to express subway to Manhattan. Apartment is clean, fully equipped and authentic. Owner is a wonderfull host, kind and very helpful. Definitely a recommendation.
Our family enjoyed staying at John's place. We wanted to stay in a historic home and a New York brownstone is iconic. The place had everything we needed. It was a compact space, but worked for us. John was a great host, very considerate and even offered us his parking spot on the street and helped us with luggage. If we visit New York in the future we would stay here again.
Our stay was fabulous! Location was ideal, neighborhood was established and close to a supermarket, the subway and some great little gems for restaurants (Peaches).
My family and I (2 adults and 3 children aged 15, 11 & 9) had the pleasure of staying at the Hancock suite last year for a week. Having never been to NY we wanted an experience that enabled us to be part of regular NY life (not stuck in a cramped Manhattan hotel). Family and friends said Brooklyn was too far away from Manhattan (they were wrong), and unsafe (wrong again!). We took a car service from JFK (Carmel Limo) which cost $70 and took around 30 mins. On arrival we were greeted by John and shown to our apartment. It was modern, clean, had A/C and was in walking distance of supermarkets, restaurants, laundromats and the main streets (Fulton & Nostrand Ave). The subway (A & C trains to Manhattan) was a 7 minute walk. We bought a 7 day Metrocard each and traveled into Manhattan every day. The "A" is the express train and takes about 25-30 mins to get over the river to lower Manhattan and the "C" a bit longer.
The area felt safe and was clean. We walked around at night often and people were courteous and friendly. Plenty of good restaurants and pizza joints and soul food. So if you are looking for a real Brooklyn experience (along with Biggie Smalls murals nearby!)in an attractive street with helpful owners at very reasonable prices, Hancock Suites is the place to be. We would definitely return.
I reserved this apartment for 6 family members (4 adults and 2 children) for 4 days that were going to be visiting me (I have a small apartment and didn't have the space for them). The price was awesome, the street is beautiful and the apartment was perfect. The neighborhood is great because it's just a very short walk to the subway and there are many grocery stores and restaurants around the area. They were even able to easily order in late night!
I would definitely rent here again and recommend to anyone thinking about it.
Our stay was fantastic!!! Owner was friendly, polite, and very hospitable. Him and his wife made sure that we enjoyed our stay and if we needed anything, they readily made sure they were available to help. We were very comfortable with our stay and felt welcome. The place was very clean and affordable and was close to subway access as well as shops and stores in the area. We definitely would stay again next time we are in New York.
