Many guests enjoy reserving our Pontoon Boating Pkg -- it really opens up a whole new world to be able to get out on the lake – and the little ones just love playing 'captain' steering the boat. The Pontoon Boat also makes for a great mobile swimming platform, and sunsets are glorious as it's so peaceful to be out in the middle of Stone Lake and just slowly drift and watch the waterfowl, birds, etc. And if anyone likes to fish - that's what Stone Lake is famous for! We include in the rental of the Pontoon Boat a personal orientation session so that the Pontoon can be operated safely and with confidence. Also included is 10 gallons of fuel -- enough for a week.
Included with a Pontoon Boating Pkg are five (5) Sea Eagle soft-side 2-person sit-on-top Kayaks. Also a fishing row boat - all perfect for exploring the quiet undeveloped shoreline of Stone Lake to experience aquatic life up close.
For Guests with mobility issues, and Guests with children who love to vacation with other families, the serene setting of the Knotty Pine Lodge with its own boat dock, gentle-slope sandy beach and 47 wooded acres -- makes for family memories to last a lifetime.

In the early 1980s we moved away from Michigan for jobs, settling in Maryland near Washington, DC where we raised our two wonderful children. As empty nesters, in the summer of 2008, we started what we thought would be a 5-year search for our dream retirement home back in Michigan, on a lake, halfway between Chicago and Detroit -- where all of Brenda's family have homes. In our very first house-hunting trip in June 2008 we came across a beautifully restored 1935 craftsman house on 3 acres; it exceeded our expectations in every conceivable way. It's a dream come true for us that in one short year became a mecca for family gatherings. In 2010 a 47-acre wooded parcel that surrounds the 3 acres became available and which included 150 feet of lake frontage...we were able to acquire it and build this brand new vacation Lodge House right on the water. We hope you will consider staying here at Stone Lake to build your own wonderful family memories. -- Ted & Brenda
Ted Gogol purchased this house in 2010
Cassopolis, Michigan with its two lakes -- Stone Lake and Diamond Lake -- is halfway between Chicago & Detroit...about 2.5 hours from either. Less drive time = more fun time. Why drive 5-6 hours?
Here's what's most unique: The privacy and tranquility of a 47-acre wooded retreat with a private shoreline featuring a secluded, gentle-slope sandy beach upon which sits a 7-BR, 7.5-BA, 3,700 sq. ft. home that easily accommodates multiple families. Throw in a private dock with available Pontoon Boat, Kayaks, Row Boat, 8 Mountain Bikes -- and it's a recipe for a great week at the lake. The icing on the cake? Guests can walk to downtown Cassopolis' restaurants & watering holes...and within 15-20 minutes by car are a plethora of other great restaurants. The Lodge House is 40-minutes from Notre Dame / South Bend and 45 minutes from Four Winds Casino. Numerous Golf Courses are nearby as are many Wineries which offer tours.
16 of our family members gathered at the lake house for a fun week on Stone Lake. The home is very well designed, decorated, and equipped with most everything you could possibly want/need.
Although one family member brought his power boat, we also rented the boat package. The pontoon boat was used every day. We anchored it out in the lake, and used it as our floating swim dock. The young children spent hours wading along the shore, catching minnows and frogs.
Because the game room is situated away from the sleeping areas, it was never a problem with noise, even though it was often used.late into the night. The kitchen was very well stocked, and the extra refrigerator in the game room was great to have, because we shopped at Costco on our way to the house and it had plenty of room for our groceries for the week.
We ate dinner every evening out on the deck at the big table. Many of our family members hiked the trails that wandered thru the 47 acres, and we picked up kindling from the nearby woods for our gathering around the fire pit to roast marshmallows and tell stories.over the last 15 years, I have rented 20+ vacation properties from VRBO, and I have to say that Ted was the most attentive owner I have ever dealt with. He is genuinely commited to helping you have a wonderful time while staying in their home.
We hope to return sometime in the next few years.
Thanks, Ted and Brenda
Our family has now stayed at the "Redhouse" for 5 years and we plan to return again next summer. The owners, Ted and Brenda, whom we finally got to met in person this year, are wonderful people. Their hard work and vision guarantee that you will not be disappointed should you be lucky enough to get to spend time at the property. The Redhouse has so many things to offer that we never seem to be able to do it all. Here is just a short list of our activities from this year: boating, rafting, fishing, swimming, camp fires, billiards, corn-hole, foosball, ping-pong, board games, puzzles, croquet, bike riding, hiking, basketball, swinging and playground, movie night, and my favorite... Coffee and breakfast on the back porch while over looking the lake. The fishing was a record year for us, catching mainly largemouth bass, sunfish and bluegills. There is something there for everyone, so much so, that we only go out to eat once during the week, which means we are spending most of our time together catching up and playing games. Another great feature is that the house is at the end of the street, so you feel very secluded and the kids have plenty of room to run around safely. All said, the house is perfect for large families or groups that want to spend time quality time together.
The house is the most fantastic "cottage" we have ever rented. The knotty pine gave it a cottage feel, but the amenities are first rate! The bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen were all above our expectations. The "Playroom", as my kids called it, and the movie room were above and beyond what we needed, but were used and would have been a life saver if the weather hadn't been perfect, which is was! Even though we are a family that is lucky enough to not need the handicapped accessibility, I know a lot of thought went into the building of this home and it was very well thought out and would make anyone's stay a treat!!
The Lodge house is a beautiful home and wheelchair accessible! We are an organization that treats traumatic brain injury and we spent a week with 11 patients in wheelchairs and 11 staff to assist! The outside deck is amazing with great views, the front concrete slab offers a lot of sun! The house is equipped with all your daily needs and the caretakers are super nice! Unfortunatley we were not able to get the wheelchairs down to the fire pit or water but the views were still amazing! Can't wait to come back next year!!!!!
Our group of friends did our annual trip to the Lodge House this year. With 12 Adults and 6 kids, this house was perfect. We rented the additional quarters and had plenty of space. You can tell the owners, Ted and Brenda, put a lot of thought into making the house accessible and a great group getaway home. Each family had their own bathroom and many of the rooms had bunk beds for the kids. The kids enjoyed the game room during the day and the adults were able to enjoy it in the evening without disturbing the sleeping kids. Everyone loved the little beach front to the lake and riding around the boats. The lake is pretty quiet and the surrounding views were beautiful. Ted and Brenda are great to work with. A lot of the house is handicap accessible which is not common to find and it was actually very helpful to have the ramps for some of the younger children. Highly recommend this house.
My family and I stay here every year. The house is perfect. There are plenty of things to do both inside and outside. The view of the lake is beautiful and the game room is great for kids. Large bedrooms with lots of bathrooms. It's the perfect getaway house. Ted and Brenda are great to work with. This home is great for all ages. I highly recommend this home.
With 47 wooded acres with trails PLUS all of the fun of a lakefront home with available Pontoon Boat, 4 2-person Sea Eagle Kayaks, Fishing Row Boat, champion Ping Pong Table, Pool Table, Foosball Table, Wii with 4 controllers and games, lots of indoor Board and outdoor Yard Games..the Lodge House has it all!
