Nestled in a beautiful country neighborhood, with lush mountains rising above the acre that surrounds you. Farm animals add to the rural setting. In this setting it's hard to imagine that the world's most beautiful and pristine beaches are, literally, just down the road. World-Renowned Sunset Beach Is A Three Minute Walk. And more than 20 other world premier surfing spots are just minutes away, including Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay. Spectacular and magnificent beaches abound on the North Shore . . . all awaiting your exploration.
Our cottage was lovingly built in 2008. This stand alone bungalow was designed for island living with an open floor plan and high beamed ceiling. A large central skylight allows you to watch the stars at night while lying in the comfort of your California King sized bed. Smooth and cool lava rock covers the floors. Stunning ''island style'' furnishings help you to know you have arrived in Hawaii.
One of our local artists has graced our hale with exquisite Polynesian style carvings. Furniture is either handcrafted or imported from Southeast Asia.
After a day in the sun you can rinse off in one of our two rain showers: Our INDOOR marble & lava oversized walk in shower, or our large, private OUTDOOR shower. Evenings can be spent lounging on our covered lanai, barbecuing and dining alfresco or relaxing inside with our 46 inch flat screen TV. If you desire a more active nightlife, Haleiwa town offers restaurants, bars and entertainment.
Fabulous eating options abound on the North Shore: A scenic 15 minute drive in either direction offers a sumptuous variety of local, international or resort cuisine. Locally grown fruit and vegetable stands are just down the road. Ted's Bakery is just around the corner (Chocolate Haupia Pies!).
We also have a delightful grocery store, Foodland (complete with Starbucks), which is just 10 minutes away.
The tree-lined bike path across the street makes the Saturday's Farmers Market a fun and easy walk or ride. Luscious tropical fruits, flowers and local artwork are plentiful. Historic Haleiwa town, an old whaling village, has become a shopper's paradise and restaurant-lovers delight. Yet it still maintains it's old town charm.
Every conceivable water activity is easily available to you here: Surfing, Sunbathing, Diving, Snorkeling, Tide Pools, Whale Watching, Fishing, Jet Skiing and more. Lessons are available for anyone with a desire to learn.
In addition to exploring our magnificent beaches, there are countless activities for the energetic visitor. There are fabulous hiking trails including the trail to Waimea Falls.
Other must-sees for the active visitor are Waimea Botanical Gardens, Polynesian Cultural Center, Haleiwa Town, Turtle Bay Resort with it's Arnold Palmer designed golf course, ocean view spa and horseback riding.
The winter months bring added excitement when the waves swell to huge proportions and pro surfers from all over the world assemble to compete in the Triple Crown of Surfing. This is a fabulous spectator sport not to be missed if you are fortunate enough to visit during this time. You can always find sheltered beaches and smaller waves to enjoy the water if the huge ones ''aren't your thing''.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the sunset hale for 9 wonderful nights. I've stayed at many rentals on the north shore, from oceanfront homes, to homes up in Pupukea. This is one of the nices places I've stayed. It offers the privacy and relaxation many north shore homes can't because of the close proximity of the houses in most of the neighborhoods. The sunset hale is on a large private lot, with plenty of room. Your closet neighbors are the friendly goats. The house itself is beautiful and well appointed. We were very happy upon check in to find basically everything we needed. Making the usual foodland and Walmart trips for supplies not required. The walk to the beach is short, making it easy to catch the sunsets. Or to enjoy the many aquatic activities available on the north shore. It's a quick trip to teds bakery, and a short drive to Haleiwa for eating and shopping. Watching the stars through the skylight while in bed was a nice bonus. And waking up to the chorus of birdsong every morning was fantastic. It was relaxing to come home after a day's activities. We're looking forward to our next trip back to the sunset hale.

There are no words to adequately express this amazing property. We are in love with the home, the neighborhood, the beach, the location, the comfort level, and the whole experience. If you're looking for a real Polynesian experience, this is the place. The area is close to the PCC, Waimea Bay and Falls, Sharks Cove, the historic Haleiwa town, and so much more. It is still close enough to get back to the Honolulu and Waikiki attractions. The owners are very accessible yet respect privacy. The home was clean and stocked with cleaning supplies and some basic needs. There are no concerns with the comfy accommodations and there were all the amenities you could ask for. There is no air conditioning, but the wonderful trade winds and fan kept us perfectly comfortable. It was perfect for our anniversary get away!! Thanks again to Alia for making us feel welcome. Perfect!!!
My wife and I had a fantastic time at the Sunset Hale. The Hale is charming and perfect for a couple wanting a relaxing get away. It was stocked with most everything that we needed to cook and enjoy the beach and everything inside and out was well maintained and updated. It was only a 3 minute walk from Sunset beach and the beach chairs provided were perfect for relaxing. The outdoor shower was awesome, so awesome we didn't even use the indoor one! The neighborhood is quite and the owner made sure that everything was taken care of for our stay. Would definitely recommend this place to others and we hope to be back again one day.
I can't say enough good things about this property. Perfect for a couple and in such a great location on the North Shore. The private driveway and large piece of property was ideal for privacy. The bathroom is large and clean and well designed. The kitchen has all the amenities you could want. Great TV with cable. Outside shower is perfect for rinsing off after the beach. Even though we are from Kailua on the east side of the island, we would love to go back to relax.
Staying at Sunset Hale was a wonderful experience. Alia and Brian are wonderful hosts and the property is amazing. It was such a comfortable and relaxing experience to stay at the hale, we had to force ourselves to leave and exploer the beautiful beaches! It lacks for nothing.
We stayed at Sunset Hale in October 2014 for a weeklong anniversary trip, and found the accommodations to be as comfortable, private and relaxing as places we've stayed costing three times as much. We didn't have a single complaint, and that made it quite easy to book another trip and stay at the property for a week in March 2016. We recommend this property for anyone who is looking for a large, very comfortable stand-alone studio guest house with essentially its own private yard, a nearly complete kitchen (no oven), HD TV and stereo, indoor and outside walk-in showers, and access to one of the nicest beaches on Oahu, Sunset Beach, by a walk down a quite road for a distance of about a city block. We found the North Shore to be so relaxing, and to have such a nice vibe, that we avoided Honolulu and that part of the island completely. You won't be disappointed in this VRBO. It's the real deal.
Beautiful beaches, surfing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, bike path, snorkeling and diving, restaurants, hiking, golf, horseback riding, etc.
