Reach Carla at 336.902.4878 to learn more about our historic homestead, established in the early 1900s and is filled with glimpses of the past! The hand built structure will accommodate 2-4 guests and invites its visitors to enjoy a step back in time amid the antiques and period furnishings. This is a one of a kind old cabin with craftsmanship reflected in the handmade pine plank doors, rolled window glass, stone fireplace and much more. Old quilts, burlap curtains and accessories will carry you back in time to make your stay one of the most memorable experiences ever!
Sip wine under the stars, watch deer graze in the pastures, or just sit back & relax! The historic farmhouse is located just 5 minutes off I-77 & very close to Princeton. Why stay overnight in a hotel when this beautiful place is just a short drive away?
Things on the farm remain pretty much the way they were when great grandma lived there in the early 1900's. Guests today have a few more modern conveniences including wifi, landline, tv, and . . . a bathroom, replacing the old outhouse that once stood on the farm.
Your bedroom comes complete with natural air conditioning, made possible by raising the old rolled glass windows and propping them up with a stick. The freshness of the cool mountain air filling the room brings with it the night sounds of owls and crickets chirping softly in the stillness..
If a rain should be falling on the old tin roof, you're in for a special treat. There's nothing like listening to the soothing raindrops as you curl up with a good book or nap the entire afternoon..
Guests can go for a walk to the old barn, go fishing in the river, watch deer graze in the pastures, or make conversation around the crackling firepit while roasting marshmallows and taking in the beauty of a clear, starlit night.
Time stands still at this old farm, rusted glimpses of days gone by, inviting guests to visit and remember when life was simpler. Paradise awaits!

Carla Leslie purchased this cabin in 1900
This historic farmhouse and grounds sits where the Shawnee Indians once lived in the Bluestone Valley. The homestead is one of the most historic sites in Mercer County.
Our guests enjoy beautiful star-lit nights, the soothing sounds of crickets and owls, and when raining, the tranquil sounds of raindrops falling on the old tin roof. This setting is hard to find but certainly exists at our historic farm retreat.
This historical cabin is so charming. It truly feels like you have stepped back in time once you enter it. Very comfortable and Carla was very attentive to our needs. We looked forward to the mornings in the sunroom sipping our coffee watching the deer graze. We enjoyed our days at Pipestem State Park, hiking, riding the tram and paddle boating on the lake. Great place to unwind!
We had a great time visiting WV for a Spring Break weekend. The cabin is just as the pictures appear. It is very old but very well maintained. It reminded me of going to my great grandmother house when I was little. The quilts on the bed are just like I remember as a kid. Heavy and warm. Its is very peaceful and secluded but yet only a short drive from the interstate. We visited Winterplace ski resort and ACE Adventure Resort for their zip line. I would love to go back during the Summer months and do the white water rafting on the New River or Gauley. The only slight draw back is the beds. They could use an upgrade at some point but I definitely would go back regardless of that.We grilled out every night and ate on the back porch which is wonderful. I also enjoyed reading the history of the cabin. Our whole family gave it two thumbs up:)
My parents rented this fantastic log cabin for a month in August. I was fortunate enough to be with them for a few days to help them get settled in. The cabin was immaculate and very well stocked. It is much larger inside than it appears in the photos. We loved the log cabin construction and the attention to detail. It was a trip back in time. They had a very relaxing stay sitting on the front porch glider, reading on the sunporch, going for walks, and watching the deer in the yard in the mornings and evenings. They even roasted hot dogs in the fire pit. There are great mountain views all around. Carla was easy to work with and very helpful. We will definitely stay at the Country Cabin again and highly recommend it!!!
This cabin is an absolute treasure! We feel so lucky that the family rents it out and shares it with others! The cabin is immaculate when you arrive and is very cozy. We stayed for 3 nights to ski at Winterplace and the location is great! A 20 minute drive and you are at the ski mountain! Very easy access to I-77. For those who appreciate craftsmanship, this cabin is a real treat! It is a shining example of log cabin construction. It is in remarkable shape for being close to 100 yrs. old. It is solid as a rock with not one warped board or log! The owner has a very interesting history of the cabin and her ancestors that she shares with guests. It makes you feel like a special visitor---or even one of the family!! We loved the "back in time" ambiance of the cabin, but must admit the WIFI and sat. TV are a nice addition!!! Communication and booking through the owner couldn't be easier. We are VRBO owners and rent almost all of our vacation accommodations throught VRBO and this has been one of the best by far! A fabulous experience you shouldn't miss!!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this old cabin. We especially enjoyed waking up in the early hours, sitting on the sunporch and sipping coffee, listening to the birds and watching the deer eat apples from the tree in the back yard. Great vacation! The owner went out of the way to supply us with things to see and do near the cabin. It is a cozy old cabin that had everything we needed.
