About John or Vicki White

John grew up on farm in central Illinois and always loved the country. He is eager to share the countryside and beauty of his farms. He loves to farm, hike, and his latest endeavor is planting a vineyard. In coming years he will be producing wine from the over 1000 vines planted.

John or Vicki White purchased this farmhouse in 2006

Why John or Vicki White chose Illinois

We chose this property for the beauty of the rolling hills, the creek dividing both farmhouses and the associability

to nearby towns, wineries, dinning and entertainment. We enjoy getting away from the hectic city life and relaxing on the front porch and the quiet.

What makes this farmhouse unique

You will fall in love with the cottage and the country style setting. The views are spectacular and nothing is more relaxing than rocking on the porch watching the sunrise.

WIFI is available, as is cable TV.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We so enjoyed our time here at your warm country cottage. We have built great memories here! We especially loved the hiking, fishing, fires at night and the scenic drives around town.

Thank you again for the food and cookies. The kids enjoyed every bite!

We hope to come see you again soon. We loved getting to know you better as we sat around the fire. May God Bless you abundantly!

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our family and is in the most peaceful setting. The creek and trails offered a natural playground for the kids and they had so much fun. John and Vicki were amazing hosts and all of the personal touches they add really show how much they love the property and love to share it with their guests even more. Can't wait to come back!

Pheasant Valley Farms-a pleasant way to spend a week...

  • 5 of 5

Aside from the humidity Illinois is known for, we had a wonderful time. We saw deer, a box turtle and many different birds. The peace and quiet of the farm was just what we needed. We were close enough to Springfield and the Amish communities to be able to enjoy both!

Charming and peaceful are an understatement!

This B&B was AWESOME! My wife and I spent 4th of July weekend here and we loved it so much that we're already making plans of coming back in a few months! The owners, John and Vicki, are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They helped us plan our trip and made everything so convenient. Emails and phone calls were returned promptly, they went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed from a fully-stocked fridge to homemade cookies to enough comfy pillows and yes, even our own private fireworks show!

You can tell that John and Vicki get really excited to share their home with visitors and they went above and beyond our expectations. There were chocolates under our pillow, a basket of homemade goodies were right there on the table as soon as we walked in and John came by to drop off fishing rods and live bait because we mentioned that we love to fish, but because of a schedule conflict, didn't have time to grab our fishing gear! What a sweet guy! John even organized an impromptu fireworks show that went on for more than a half hour and included many of the super friendly neighbors! My wife and I were very impressed to say the least.

On the last day of our trip, John brought his tractor to the farmhouse just so that my wife and I could take pictures with us on it! This was especially nice of him considering that it was so unexpected and that we told him we were bummed because we forgot our camera, and that it really wasn't fun taking selfies with our phones. Here comes John with his camera, snapping away like a true professional and promising us to send us copies as keepsakes! Talk about 5 star service! I'd give this B&B, as well as John and Vicki, 10 stars if this website allowed me to!

The surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful and at night, you could see hundreds of fireflies in the field and thousands of stars in the clear sky above. We rarely get a show like this here in the city which is why my wife and I can't wait to go back! My wife and I have been to lots of B&B's and we agreed that this one has been the best one we've been to so far! So if you're into quiet, beautiful surroundings, small town charm, and a place to just get away from it all, make your reservations now with John & Vicki. You'll be so glad you did!

better than advertised

  • 5 of 5

when k and i first looked at the information on this place, we were interested but after going there and experiencing that great place, we knew the ad didn't do it justice. it was just a wonderful country story for us. we don't have time or space to say all that could be said. but we will just say, go there and you will know and understand the beauty of it all. the owners are great and accommodating folks and the surrounding countryside and small towns are welcoming and picturesque well worth the cost.

More than we expected!

  • 5 of 5

Within minutes of arriving at Pheasant Valley Farm we knew we had made the right decision. Both John and Vicki greeted us and took us on a tour of the property. From the homemade cookies to the wine from the local winery to the ingredients for our farm fresh breakfast we were thrilled with our decision. The houses were clean, roomy and the decor took us back in to a time when life was simple. The photos on this website are very accurate and there are no unpleasant surprises waiting for you.

The setting was nothing short of being fabulous. If you are looking to escape the city, Pheasant Valley is for you. In the evening we sat and watched the deer, during the day we hiked and enjoyed looking at the masses of beautiful monarch butterflies. We saw turkeys and enjoyed the tranquility of our weekend home away from home.

The intention of our weekend was to meet up with our Colorado family and tour the Lincoln Museum and Library which is about 50 minutes away. While we were able to do that, It was also a pleasant surprise to be able to unwind and relax in the beauty of nature.

It is our hope to one day return and spend even more time at Pheasant Farms. John and Vicki are excellent hosts and make sure all your needs are met. They recommended area attractions, restaurants and even suggested we check out the local movie theatre.

We would highly recommend this B&B, which is more of a vacation home rental, to anyone looking for a week long vacation or weekend getaway.
