This Place Is Awesome!
What a wonderful stay at this cabin in the "woods", but really only minutes to downtown Bozeman. I would stay again in a heartbeat!
Ron and Kate’s cabin is much, much more than a little one-room place to stay. It far exceeded our expectations. Together they have created a quiet, relaxing environment inside and out. Kate’s beautiful quilts and attention to every detail of tasteful country decor and thoughtful amenities create a welcoming and cozy interior. Ron’s artistic farm landscape complete with front porch overlooking an inviting pond and picturesque windmill with mountains in the distance provide an idyllic spot to enjoy outdoor Montana. They went out of their way with to be thoughtful and attentive. Less than 10 minutes to all that growing Bozeman has to offer, it is still worlds away from the hustle and bustle of life. Inviting, calm, and relaxing, we’ll definitely return.
What a great way to start the summer! This cozy cottage is the perfect place to stay! Great location for day trips to Butte, Billings, Yellowstone, Hyalite Canon, Lewis and Clark Caverns and Livingston. We loved the owners...Kate and Ron couldn't have been kinder. I highly recommend this spot if you're looking to unwind and enjoy life. Lots of nice amenities. Very relaxing and located perfectly for all adventures. My husband and I loved everything about this place! Thanks Kate and Ron!
Best part of our trip!
Ron and Kate's cabin was the 3rd stop of 5 during our road trip from Denver to Bozeman...and it was the best. Our stays in Grand Tetons, West Yellowstone, Jackson and Flagg Ranch didn't come close to what Ron and Kate offered us. They take a great deal of pride in their work and we feel fortunate to have been guests. So many great things to share..it was quiet at night and as they promised, the natural cooling and heating created by the cabin always provided the perfect temperature. The bed was soft and cozy and hard to leave. It was nice to be able to wake up and make coffee and sit on the front porch. In addition to preserving the home historically, Ron and Kate believe in green living and they provide products that support this philosophy.
We were a quick drive to downtown Bozeman..Nova Cafe for breakfast was great (the blue cornmeal hotcakes are a must!), cocktails at Plonk, and GREAT meals at Open Range and the Blackbird Kitchen. Less than 30 minutes away is the Hyalite trailhead which will lead you to MANY amazing waterfalls. They offered great advice as to where to go for laundry, meals and beautiful drives.
The construction of the cabin was remarkable. Once you see it, you'll quickly understand why they last for centuries. Ron and Kate are true preservers of time. Every morning, we felt like we were waking up in the 1800's, but with the luxuries of 2015. Kate's quilt work is AMAZING! The only thing I missed is a full length mirror. :) We would definitely recommend this to any/all and we will definitely be back! BTW...I almost hate endorsing this place so highly as I want it to remain available for when we next visit. Luckily they're working on their second rental!
Bozeman and Screwed Together ranch and cabin: Trip of a lifetime
Thank you Kate and Ron. What a honeymoon stay we had in your beautiful cabin! It was supremely cool to meet you and get to know a bit about you and your journey to Montana. We got great advice and any request was immediately responded to with excellent suggestions. Although we are private people, we really appreciated the personal touch during our stay and Kate and Ron respected our needs.
The Screwed Together Ranch was in a great location and the cabin was perfectly cozy, well appointed, very comfortable and beautiful to sleep and hang out in. We loved waking up early to watch the sun rise over the nearby Bridger Range and launch day trips all around the beautiful region. Every trip, including our full day trip to Yellowstone only 1.5 hours away was more beautiful than the previous. We also loved the town of Bozeman and enjoyed the unique restaurants, the great stores, the art and the micro breweries. We especially enjoyed the beer at Bridger Brewery near Montana State University and had a fabulous dinner at Plonk in downtown Bozeman, oh yeah, and breakfast at Nova Cafe was unbeatable.
Bottom line - If you have not been to Montana, you need to get to Bozeman. The Screwed Together Ranch is a perfect option to stay for a few days or even a few weeks with all kinds of outdoor options at your doorstep. The cabin is convenient, cute, affordable, practical and provides a peak at the pioneering past of Montana with all the amenities of the present. You will not regret your stay.
Thanks Kate and Ron...
I’m not sure we could have picked a better location, setting or residence than Screwed Together Ranch. It’s semi secluded, yet minutes from town, gorgeous surroundings, and owned by possibly the nicest and most interesting, generous hosts you’ll ever meet. The cabin is just about perfect (and comes with a couple of great stories), compact and comfortable, with some very thoughtful and functional touches (an extra fridge, for instance). Though you’ll never hear it, you’re minutes from the highway. Bozeman itself is strategically located, providing straightforward access to Yellowstone, Big Sky, Livingston, Chico Hot Springs, and no shortage of monster hikes (e.g. Hyalite, Pine Creek, etc.). btw, if you want a rocky road driving adventure, take Portal Creek Road to the Hidden Lakes trailhead; don’t be in a hurry… For a kinder, gentler ride with great scenery, head up route 86 to Bridger Bowl and beyond… Feel like a hike after dinner, head just up the road to Sypes Canyon trailhead, or, take a short drive to the M for a vigorous postprandial ascent. Make sure you don’t leave the ranch without hearing the story behind its name, that is, if you can get Ron to open up a bit. He’s salt of the earth with expansive intellect and scalawag wit, but elusive and hopelessly shy.
