About Jody Stebben

Hi! I'm Jody!!

My husband Gregg and I love our beach house but right now we need to follow work opportunities that take us away from the beautiful Isle of Palms. Gregg is in the radio business and Jody is in the museum exhibit design and management business, and our job is taking us away for awhile. We love surfing, hiking and lots of other outdoor activities that we can enjoy with our dog, Benny. We have done a lot of recent remodeling and decorating of our beach house to make it beautiful and comfortable for all of our renters.

Jody Stebben purchased this house in 2007

Why Jody Stebben chose Charleston Area

We moved to the Charleston area in 2004 and then fell in love with the Isle of Palms. We never intended to rent our house out because we love it, and we love being so close to the beach...because we're both surfers and also take our dog Jersey to the beach as many times a day as we can. But this crazy economy is taking us away awhile...so we hope you will enjoy our home while we're gone!

What makes this house unique

Its a fun beach house, just a short straight walk to the beach. We love our daily and nightly walks on the beach, surfing, swimming in the warm waters of the Atlantic and then coming home to the shade under our giant oak trees. Our house is open and beach-y with a casual and unique layout. We have decorated it with love and memories. Our house is also a very short walk to the Isle of Palms Marina, where you can kayak or sail or launch your own boat, or just grab lunch or dinner while enjoying the stunning water views. And, of course, downtown Charleston and the rest of the famous Charleston Lowcountry are just minutes away by car.

loved this house

  • 5 of 5

We will definitely stay again! This house was so clean! It has a great location and very easy/short walk to the beach! Our dog, Tucker enjoyed the back yard and I know he was safe inside the fence. The pictures and décor is so unique and mysterious. Thanks Jody for sharing your beach house with us.

A very relaxing, roomy and quiet stay on Ilse of Palms

  • 5 of 5

This was our longest stay on Ilse of Palms and we had a great time. This house is delightfully quiet, and feels like a cross between an artsy loft, a mountain house, and maybe even a ship of some kind. There are reused materials and interesting mechanical iron parts in some of the tables. It was clean and had absolutely no pet smells of any kind for our stay (The listing invites dogs, and we had no pets in our small group). The beach is a short walk away. This house worked well for us. On this part of the island the beach front road is quite busy with car traffic. I was happy that we were not staying on that busy road, and we were just far enough back to have delightful peace & quiet. We go to the beach for hours doing our water sport (kiteboarding) and it was nice to come back to this quiet, shady house to wash off our stuff in the driveway, and relax. I thought our bed was very comfortable.

It is located in an area that is really fantastic for riding bikes in all directions. I did ride my mountain bikes on the hard beach at low tide and really enjoyed that. I also rode my road bike on the many quiet back roads.

The kitchen is well outfitted with cooking and dining equipment, and spices. Comfortable beds. Second bedroom is extra spacious and nice. Nice shady backyard with picnic table and chairs. Backyard can get a bit muddy if it rains a lot.

Potentially quirky aspects that didn't bother us:

> There are a lot of short sets of steps to enter the house by the driveway, but lights come on with motion sensors and I had no problem.

> It's sort of a type of split level house, with 3 levels in side (more steps, which is fine for us)

> Nice big enjoyable kitchen and long built in table for meals, with very minimal cushioning. We spent most our time in the kitchen/ eating area and there are not really very comfortable chairs in there, but no big deal.

> Tons of interesting and fun dog photos on the walls! FUN! (Even if I'm not a dog person) :)

> Nice to have a washer and dryer, though the interesting high tech washer seemed to leave the towels quite wet, greatly increasing time in the dryer.

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The house was great. Everything was ready when we arrived. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need (we always travel with our own sharp knives). The beach is only 2 short blocks away. We rented bikes which gets you everywhere you need to go. So you can park your car all week, after the large grocery shopping trip and enjoy the island

Thanks for a great week.

There are just four houses between our house and the beach. After your beach time it is always nice to come back to the shade from the huge oaks around the house.

The house is also 4 blocks from the Isle of Palms Marina where you will find the public boat launch; the Morgan Creek Grill and Bar which has great river views; a small convenience store and gas station, and kayak and jet sky rental and eco boating trips available. Wild Dunes, just a few block away, offer golf courses (Harbor Course and Links Course) 843 886-2164.

There are a number of other great restaurants and shops on IOP (Boat House, Hucks, Sea Biscuit), Sullivan's Island (Poe's is my favorite), Mt Pleasant (Mustard Seed, Basil, Bamboo) and historic down town Charleston (Hominy Grill, SNOB, Fig, Husk).

There is a dog park locate behind the Recreation Center at 29th and Hartnett Blvd.

Other Activities: Shopping, Kayaking, Boating, Parasailing, Shelling, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa, Racquetball, Basketball Court, Mini Golf
