Villa Tranquila is the total space on the top floor of a 2 story blue house. It is at Jobos, Isabela on the cliff overlooking Jobos beach. The property is located on a dead end street so traffic is minimal.
Villa Tranquila is perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4-6 persons, there are 2 separate bedrooms, a futon on the living room that converts into a double bed and one bathroom. The kitchen/dining area has a large glass window with a beautiful and relaxing view of the Atlantic Ocean. The living room also has a great ocean view through a glass door that leads to an outside balcony with 4 chairs and a hammock. Here you can relax feeling the tropical ocean breeze while enjoying the great view of the Atlantic Ocean.
REASONABLE AND LOW RATES - SPECTACULAR LOCATION!
Villa Tranquila apartment is very peaceful and comfortable, located in a very quiet neighborhood where you can hear the birds singing and the roar of the ocean when it is rough. The apartment is about 300 yards from the cliff, you can walk to the cliff and enjoy the great view of the whole coast of Isabela. From here you can see the surfers at Jobos beach, the ships out in the ocean and the humpback whales when we are in season (Dec - April).
To reach Villa Tranquila from abroad you can fly to Rafael Hernandez airport (BQN) in Aguadilla (Ramey Base), rent a car and drive for 10-15 minutes to the house. Or, you can fly to San Juan airport (SJU), rent a car and drive between 1.5 to 2 hours (depending on traffic) while enjoying the scenery, the roads are in good condition and well signed.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Love surfing, Stand Up Paddleboarding, Kitesurfing, Mountain Bike and Sailing. Moved to Isabela in 1981 to live closer to the best surf spots in the Island. Isabela is my home town and it is the place where all surf/sail related enthusiasts from the rest of the Island like to go.
Javier Gorbea purchased this apartment in 1998
Spectacular view and a quiet and friendly neighborhood. It has a great location! It is clean and well kept!
The ocean view, the vegetation and the birds that live in the area are the unique benefits of this property.
Beautiful place! The owner was extremely nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to others!
Came over here for a surf vacation and before we we left we stumbled upon this property.
Centrally located and near some great surf of Jobos, Surfer Beach and Wilderness.
Out host Javier was great and very helpful and full of great information about the surf and Puerto Rico in general.
Accommodations were extremely clean and comfortable. Kitchen well stocked with everything you need to cook up a storm after a "board meeting" of surf. Bathroom big and spacious.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a safe and affordable place to stay.
Thanks again Javier. We will be back.
Saludos y Aloha,
We visited in Dec 2015 for about 2 weeks. It was a girls getaway (2 friends).
The property was well maintained and very peaceful. We felt safe living there and getting in and out. I went out on a run one morning around the streets and it was fine. The property is located on the West cost of Puerto Rico, close to attractions like Jobos Beach and Crashboat Beach. Rincon is about 30 minutes away. There are some nice beach bars within a mile, but I would not recommend walking to them and parking was a hassle near the bars. Both rooms are spacious and have TVs, A/C's and bathrooms. There are spare air mattresses, pillows and blankets, making it convenient if you are traveling as a family. The beds, pillows, sheets and comforters were comfortable. Javier is a very friendly and helpful renter. It was easy to get along with him and since he lives in an adjoining structure, it made us feel safe at night. Outside the house there is a hammock and a few chairs, we spent many mornings eating breakfast listening to the sounds of the ocean- very relaxing.
There is no living area, the property has two bedrooms and a kitchen/dining area. If you want to hang out and watch TV, you would have to pick a room (the master bedroom has the best TV set). The way the city of Isabela is set up, it is not possible to venture out on foot. We knew this going in, many other reviews said the same, but we feel the need to reiterate this. Personally, I realized that living in a walk friendly neighborhood with a beach within walking distance would be ideal. This may not be very feasible in Puerto Rico, from what we saw.
There is no street address for the property, so you may ask Javier to send you a google pin that you can use if you navigate with your phone. Alternatively, the GPS coordinates are 18.507911, -67.078658.
We used GPS coordinates for all our day trips (Ponce, La Parguera, Rincon, Cabo Rojos, San Juan, Condado). The website day trips puerto rico was helpful in providing these coordinates. It is easy to get lost, so plan ahead and if you enter residential neighborhood and expect to get out, you need to retrace your steps... many of these ubdivisions have dead ends without connections that may show up on your GPS or google maps.
If you like snorkeling, don't travel in winter (the winds are strong and visibility is poor underwater). If you like surfing, winter is the best!
I must apologize for our late review. When we returned home my mother's health began to fail and I have spent the past few months at her bedside until her passing. Our month at Villa Tranquilla gave me the rest and strength that I needed for her care. Javier is a wonderful host. Good friends were able to come join us for a month. Having our own bathrooms made that very doable. The view from VT was wonderful. The kitchen was sell provided with cookware and utensils. Having a laundry onsite was great, too. The location helped us be able to explore more of the island. We hope to come back some day.
Thank you, Javier.
The house was just as described in a quiet, safe location. Javier, the homeowner, was very thoughtful and made us feel at home from the start. There were just two of us but there was plenty of room for two more people. The whole place was clean and well maintained. We highly recommend this location and will definitely stay here when we come to visit family in the area again. Gracias Javier!
We had a lovely stay at the north western part of Puerto Rico. We had overlapping periods of occupation, but there were 3 couples - 6 of us, all adults and yes, there were occasional moments of feeling a bit crowded. But the weather was so lovely, everyone was in such a lovely and relaxed mood, our host, Javier, was so helpful and friendly and things moved along so very well, that that aspect faded into the lovely time we all had. Thanks again to Javier, who helped us to locate the amenities and the best restaurants and surfing beaches and a deal of other local information. It was truly a lovely interlude. We'll be back!
