AN ARCHITECTURAL INTRIGUE FOR A MEMORABLE GETAWAY -- Blue Ridge Mountains Luxury One Bedroom Mountain Cabin: Viewpoint Cabin is perched among the tall Virginia pine trees and surrounded by soft bed of mountain laurels. As you open the front door, you are greeted with a giant cypress tree in the center of the house and then you are immediately drawn to the unobstructed view through the huge windows. Viewpoint Cabin offers you light and airy interior where you feel suspended in air, well, actually, you are. When you are inside, you might curl up in the cozy window seat and catch a quiet nap holding your favorite book or step out to the view deck, perfect for enjoying the brisk morning air or bask in the warm afternoon sun on the double lounger. Come, and experience Viewpoint Cabin with your special someone. It is an ideal place for your Special Celebrations, Honeymoon, and Anniversary or just a Romantic Getaway.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: Wide open view of the mountains from every room. All one level. Hot Tub on the view deck. The most popular activities for the visitors are relaxing, watching the wild life just outside of the windows, reading and napping...but you can also find nature trails to hike, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, horse trail ride at the Leatherwood Mountains stables, or discover the nearby wineries.

We have two one bedroom cabins in the same area.

Please visit www.UniqueMountainCabins.com for additional information.

Owner Description/Comments: We stumbled upon our Leatherwood Mountains home site one day on our way back home to California after a long RV trip. It was a love at first sight. We made an offer on the property the next day. We moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2003 and started planning our projects. Burdette is a retired Architect and I am a retired construction manager and architectural designer. It has been a rewarding experience to build unique mountain cabins. We have completed our permanent home in the mid 2012 and living here in Leatherwood Mountains all year around. We love to wake up in our mountains and see the tall trees, rocky creek, deer and turkeys just outside the windows. We found the gardening a challenge in the mountains but we like working at it.

Other Activities: Good fishing at Elk Creek (License Required), Community Tennis Court & Swimming Pool(summer), Wilkesboro YMCA -Good GYM- on NC268, about 20 miles from Leatherwood. My favorite things to do is take a scenic drive through Blue Ridge Parkway stop at several beautiful spots for picnic and leisurely stroll along easy trails or hike to waterfalls. Grandfather Mountain is a well known spot along the Parkway. You can go to Blowing Rock, a small resort town with nice shops and restaurants about 25 miles away. You can do white water rafting, canoeing or zip line adventure though the outfitters in Boone. Horse back trail rides through Leatherwood Mountains stable or other stables in Boone area. There are several wineries to explore in the nearby areas. Many of our guests just want to stay around the cabin and relax in the private mountain setting.

About Myung Pulver

We stumbled upon our Leatherwood Mountains home site one day on our way back home to California after a long RV trip. It was a love at first sight. We made an offer on the property the next day. We moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2003 and started planning our projects. Burdette is a retired Architect and I am a retired construction manager and architectural designer. Why Myung Pulver chose Ferguson

It feels like you are in a National Forest with natural surroundings. You drive through miles of quiet private roads not seeing many houses along the way. This property is within a private gated community which offers a sense of security and shared amenities such as swimming pool and tennis courts.

What makes this cabin unique

There is an independently owned resort business just outside of our subdivision. The Leatherwood Mountains Resort operates vacation home rentals for absentee owners, horseback riding, stables and a seasonal restaurant.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Words can not express how much beauty, peace, and tranquility I found in this secret little gem! The cabin has the most gorgeous views from every window. The architecture is just beautiful. The sunsets are breathtaking on the mountains. The cabin has everything you could need right there. The tub and shower are huge and provide beautiful views. The king size bed is extremely comfortable. The owners are amazing and their communication was wonderful! This place is truly a piece of Heaven on Earth. There is several hiking trails to explore right by the cabin. You must take the advice and travel during the day so you don’t get lost getting there. Your GPS probably will work (mine did for the most part) but your cell service won’t once you get up the mountain. The directions the owners provide are worth their weight in gold incase your GPS decides to reroute you. I have stayed in many cabins in NC, this by far is my favorite! It holds a very special place in my heart. I will certainly be returning SEVERAL times in the future. If you are considering this place to stay, the answer is...YES IT’S A MUST! I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Owner's Response: There are many unimproved roads in surrounding areas of our mountains that GPS may send you to. Best to study the route before getting in the car and bring a printed the map if possible. If you are coming to our cabin, please have the check-in instructions handy. Myung Pulver

Worthwhile stay

  • 3 of 5

Yes, it was great view. We loved the architecture and comfort of the house, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay...mornings and evenings on the deck, a few dips into the hot tub, nice fire at night, and I enjoyed speaking with the horse owner who had the nearby house. The bedroom had a very comfortable bed and the other small beds were comfortable as well for reading or napping; probably for sleeping as well. Loved the shower in the bedroom. Other comments to consider:

Heed the instructions to make your first trip up the mountain in daylight. The roads are not particularly well marked, and your GPS may lead you astray. After that, the way is truly not complicated. There may have been a quicker route up but it's unclear as to whether all the roads were passable. The instructions provided got us there, but we really had to pay attention the first time.

Not a foodie kitchen, but serviceable if you are thinking of cooking in. Everything works fine, even the small undercounted refrigerator and separate freezer. GET YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE WILKESBORO OR BLOWING ROCK! It is a drive.

We were inundated with lady bugs during our stay (Nov. 1-4). And I mean inundated. We were very careful about keeping the deck doors closed all the time per instructions left on the counter, but the number of dead lady bugs that greeted us each morning was nothing short of amazing. We even cleaned them all up on day 2, but there were an equal number the next day. I am not sure where their entry point was. The deck door would not lock and appeared to have been broken in the past. Not a big security concern with us, but it may be an issue with some. Even though we drive a dependable AWD Subaru, I would not attempt this drive up/down in snow and ice.

We had glorious sun, fall colors that finally popped on day 2 (late this year), and rain. Sunset's sitting on the deck was heavenly.

Owner's Response: Sorry about the dead ladybugs. We are totally lost to what to do about the seasonal bugs at Viewpoint Cabin. Last week was the stinkbugs problem. This year is unusual bad with the bugs and the weather is unusually warm. We had the whole cabin re-caulked inside and out and the extermination done a few weeks ago. The winter will arrive soon enough to calm down the bugs. Hope next year will be a better year for the bug problems. I am afraid that the kitchen didn't meet your expectations. It's hard to fit all the luxuries in a small rural mountain cabin. Thank you for pointing out that the cabin was comfortable for your stay. Myung Follow Up 11/12/17: The bug problem has been under control. The subsequent guests have not had the dead bugs problems this quest has reported.

Absolutely beautiful, well-maintained retreat for our honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for creating such a pretty home in the mountains where two people can enjoy God's creation in peace. The view through the many windows surrounding the home, the hot tub and deck, the window seats for reading and quiet chatting,...all of it was perfect for the two of us. We lacked nothing and are grateful to have discovered this property on VRBO.

Wonderful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This has to be one of the nicest cabin that my wife and I have stayed. It was very quiet and relaxing. We had taken along our own supplies but there were a lot at the cabin that we could have take less. The interior of the cabin is very spacious and well decorated and noted with a lot of reminders on things that should or not be done.

Quiet get away

  • 5 of 5

The home was beautiful and we had everything we needed. The fridge and freezer were a smaller size but not "dorm" size. It was plenty big enough to hold everything we brought with room to spare. The window seat is perfect to curl up and read and relax. The view was amazing and we were able to enjoy it with a glass of wine at sunset! The host was very attentive. I would highly recommend!

Beautiful Property - unique home!

  • 4 of 5

My son and his new bride honeymooned at this very pretty property for their first few days. They loved everything about the home - it was a quiet, romantic getaway for the new couple - perfect for what they wanted! This would have been a 5 star rating, except there was an infestation of stink bugs in the cabin that was very inconvenient. Easy fix with an exterminator, but they were only there over the weekend, so nothing could be done about it. Would stay there again, it is beautiful and very unique! Caution: Steep roads to get to property, so ice and snowy road conditions could be an issue.

Owner's Response: Thank you for reserving the cabin for your son's honeymoon and taking time to write the review on his behalf. I am pleased that they enjoyed the stay despite the stinkbug problem. The stinkbug invasion (and cluster fly in November) is a seasonal problem throughout our community's mountain top cabins. Since our cabin is within 3,000+ acres equestrian community, there are large horse pastures around the properties where these nasty bugs live and breed. I had every cracks and joints re-caulked and sprayed the exterior of the cabin about a month ago, hoping to prevent the problem. The bugs still fly inside unnoticed through the large screen door to the deck or the front door while coming and going. I apologize for the inconvenience they have experienced. The normal way to the cabin is through the community road which is not steep. Our private driveway (short-cut way) that your son used is not accessible in the winter. Of course, extreme care is needed when driving any mountain roads in snowy or icy conditions. I appreciate that they would stay again at Viewpoint Cabin again. Myung
