For almost 50 years, “HappyOurs Ranch” located close to Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Lake Powell, the Grand Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes and many other attractions here in Southern Utah's Color Country, has been a family get-away and retreat as we have watched our children and grandchildren enjoy and explore this 50-acre ranch. A unique, secluded mountain canyon with colorful maples, towering pines, oaks, and streams, will be your private family/group headquarters as you explore the marvels of Southern Utah.
We remodeled our unique, quaint and cozy cowboy cabin in 2010 to accommodate our guests and feel that it offers the finest experience of western ranch-style living with modern conveniences. This cabin is fully furnished with a full kitchen, living area with leather furniture, HD flat screen TV/DirecTV, DVD , WiFi, library, laundry, two bathrooms, and a unique custom-built bunkroom with two queen bunks and two full bunks with memory foam mattresses. Upstairs features a loft and queen bedroom for additional family and friends. A baby’s pack-n-play is available as well.
Outdoor living is at its best with two covered porches (one porch has two single beds) and a covered patio with gas barbecue and patio furniture where you can enjoy the secluded, tranquil canyon that we have enjoyed for so many years and want to share with our guests.
Up beautiful Lydia’s Canyon, just one mile off scenic Heritage Highway 89 in Glendale, Utah just far enough the peace and silence will amaze you while enjoying the star-filled night sky, hike to an ancient bat cave, or just relax and BBQ on the patio. This is the ideal location to enjoy all the treasures that await you in Southern Utah.

Dave and Karren Nemrow, your hosts, have owned this property for 25 years, and for 30 years before that, it belonged to Karren’s folks. We are retired, but are young at heart and have many children and grandchildren, with our youngest son and his family living just up the road. We live in St. George, Utah, in the winter, where we also have children and grandchildren, but come home for the Spring, Summer and Fall to this beautiful ranch. We built a log home here in 1990, and after retiring a couple of years ago (Dave was a high school art teacher and Karren was the high school secretary), decided to remodel the bunkhouse to share with friends, family and guests.
Hal and Mercy Stout purchased this cabin in 1990
Grandad's old bunkhouse, up Lydia's Canyon one mile north of Glendale, Utah, has forever been the cherished spot and gathering place for family and friends. It's close to so many wonderful places to visit like Zion NP(17mi) Bryce NP(47mi) Grand Canyon NP(95mi) Lake Powell(85mi)and many more!
'HappyOurs Ranch' in Lydias Canyon is the most beautiful, rustic, secluded, quiet retreat from the fast paced hustle bustle of today's living. It's like turning back the page of time to a tranquil era in a rural farming area called 'Long Valley' that you will fall in love with. You will enjoy the convenience and close proximity to the best attractions in Southern Utah. Come be our guest!
I stayed here for a week with 4 friends for my birthday. We were looking for a place to call "home" during our travels between Zion & Bryce Canyon. This was the PERFECT DREAM SPOT--we literally could not have asked for a better place to stay. The property is a very easy drive between both Zion & Bryce with gorgeous scenic views. The property itself is a large, quiet, serene ranch. The bunkhouse is located a little ways beyond the main house on the property but still feels very private. Our hosts Dave & Karren were just the sweetest--very hospitable with excellent suggestions for local sights, but they also give you plenty of space to come and go as you please. They have put immense thought and care into the bunkhouse, providing every touch to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. It has 2 well-appointed bathrooms each with their own shower, a fully functioning kitchen and even a washer/dryer. The 4 queen bunks in the downstairs bunkroom (each big enough for 2 people) and the queen private bedroom upstairs are VERY comfortable. We slept great here each night! Be aware that this IS the country--so people who are weird about bugs should know that there will be bugs that come inside sometimes when you open the door at night. That's just what happens when you're out in nature. We actually thought it was charming, coming from the city. Overall, this is the homiest place we could have ever hoped to land in! We really fell in love with it and will DEFINITELY be back in the future.
Our stay at Happy Ours Bunkhouse was wonderful. It felt like having a home while on vacation. It was a great location to explore the many National Parks and Lands in the area. We were always happy to head back to the bunkhouse after a day of exploring. Just a few weeks before we left for our trip we found out that friends were going to be in the same area at the same time and they didn’t have definite lodging plans. We were able to add them to our rental, Dave and Karren were very accommodating to allow us to add them. We were a party of 8 for two days of our stay, (two 10 year olds, two teens and 4 adults) we didn’t feel crowded. Having the space to cook dinner and do laundry is exactly what a traveling family needs. We were very happy with the accommodations, we had everything we needed. Dave and Karren were very pleasant and helpful regarding the local area, they even had ice cream for the kids! Tip (you won’t need anything the bunk house has it all) just pick up your groceries in Kanab, we liked Glaziers grocery.
We really enjoyed our 8-night stay at the HappyOurs Bunkhouse! Everything was clean, well-maintained and well-appointed. True pride of ownership evident. All the amenities of home. Conveniently located about 45 minutes to the entrance of Bryce Canyon, 30 minutes to the entrance of Zion and a little more than 2 hours to the entrance of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Nice quiet, wooded setting and comfortable beds ... which is very much appreciated when on vacation. Hosts Dave and Karren were incredibly nice, know the area well and were eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We would highly recommend this place to people for a great family vacation!
My best friend and I stayed a week at the cabin while we explored Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, and Glen Canyon. The cabin was clean and had every thing we needed for our stay. The beds were comfy. The kitchen was well equipped. All was great. David and Karren were delightful, even when I had issues backing down the driveway! The cabin is a perfect place to explore the Bryce/Zion part of Utah. Would love to come back someday!
thank you so much Dave and Karren. We had a wonderful time in your house. There are so many things to do in the area. The house is very comfortable and nicely furnished (I had not realized there are 2 bedrooms + a mezzanine which is very convenient + 2 bathrooms). The garden is peaceful. We enjoyed our BBQs outside. the location of the house is just perfect to go to Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks and even to Lake Powell. In August you need to wake up very early to hike without the crowd though. Thank you very much for your help, we really fell at home - hope to see you soon.
The location and the ambiance of the property were a very nice surprise. We spent a lot of early mornings on photo shoots and would return mid-day to relax and process the morning shoots before returning to the field to do afternoon and evening shoots. I can not say enough good things about the relaxing atmosphere and how inspiring it was to be nestled in a beautiful canyon abstracted from all the elements of life that cause stress. Dave and Karren are wonderful hosts and make you feel like you are at home. There really is nothing more you need to bring other than a few groceries and a toothbrush.
While in the area we visited Bryce, Zion, Capital Reef, Cedar Breaks, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and Brian Head and found the location to be an excellent 'home' base for all; the furthest drive (Capital Reef) being about 2.5 hours. Dave and Karren are extremely knowledgeable about the area. Make sure you spend some time getting to know Dave and Karren, you will not be disappointed with the cabin or the hosts. We will return for another trip to shoot the fall colors in 2016.
