The layout of the cabin was nice, with a living room big enough to hold the 5 of us. Beds were comfy although we brought our sleeping bags rather than use bedding. However, the furnace was not functioning and we really needed it during our visit in chilly March. Using the wood burning stove saved us, but we also had to use the electric room heaters to keep the cabin a comfortable temperature. We enjoyed the location because of its proximity to Royal Gorge--great cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Looks like it would be a fun place to stay in the summer because the location is close to the lakes.
We loved the house! Nanette at Castle Creek was helpful, particularly as there was a power outage at our arrival. Kitchen was reasonably stocked, house was comfortable. We loved the sleds that were there. We had a great time with 3 children aged 7-9. House was pricey compared to other options, but that would be my only hesitation to stay here again. Thank you so much!
We were there for my birthday 12/23 and Christmas. We had a great time. So close to Royal Gorge for snowshoeing. The walk around the lakes and just enjoying watching the snow were very relaxing. The cabin is great for 2 maybe 4 people. We would go there again.
Spacious and well stocked kitchen utensils, pots and pans - always important to me. Very pleasant stay for 2 adults. It's of reading - we never tried to turn on any of the TVs or radio.
Overall this place was great for us. Instructions were pretty well laid out and Serene lakes is awesome. A few things to consider:
- I wish we had found a place lakeside. Will definitely look into this.
- The dishwasher leaked when we ran it on the last day prior to leaving
- The pictures make the place look a lot bigger than it is. For reference, its 1300 sq ft.
