Established in 1880, the historic DM cattle ranch encompasses 650 acres of private meadows and forest for fly-fishing, hunting (in season), horseback riding, nature walks, or just relaxing. Observant visitors may spot deer, elk, beaver, hawks, eagles, heron, bobcat, martin, or even moose while exploring this large property. It's not unusual for accomplished anglers to catch and release 30 brown trout per day on the ranch during summer.
The cabin has a loft with one king and 2 twin beds. They are dressed in luxurious Ralph Lauren linens to appeal to the most discerning guests. The living room houses a massive sofa pit that sleeps 2 very comfortably. If you'd like to bring an RV and spread out further, there are complete facilities for those. Feel at home in the full kitchen equipped with most of what you need to prepare your favorite home-cooked meals.
On this private, 615 acre property that also includes a 100 year old homestead "main house", you will find this newly and beautifully restored log cabin that sleeps 4 with full RV hookups, corrals for your horses, direct access to the Pike National Forest and plenty of space to recreate as you wish! There are 2.5 miles of the South Fork of the South Platte River and .5 miles of Twelvemile Creek with private world-class fly fishing available for an additional fee through the owner's partnership with South Park Trout. Reservations can be made through their website (no more than 4 people) for the ultimate fly fishing experience with a professional guide. Feel free to check out their website where the DM Ranch and it's superior fishing is featured.
The DM Ranch is on the Weston Pass Road in Park County. It is 13 miles from the town of Fairplay and just 36 miles from Breckenridge, one of Colorado's premier ski towns. The Pike National Forest is across the road and provides an unending trail system for hiking and ATVing as well as spectacular displays of fall colors viewed from the comfort of the new cabin deck. The towns of Salida and Buena Vista are a short drive. If it’s downhill skiing, hunting, eclectic dining or unique shopping you are seeking, you are a short scenic jaunt from it all.
The DM ranch is not just a property, it is a truly remarkable experience. It is best suited for families and small groups seeking quiet, secluded experiences in an authentic ranch setting. Owner / Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1989
Great place easy access. Cabin was clean and well stocked on everything. Would love to stay there again.
This is a place that you can experience some of the best that Colorado has to offer" log cabin was very nice and comfortable to stay in while visiting with my son who lives in Denver, the scenery
was unbelievable with the aspens changing color among the pines ,snow covered mountains...
comfortable days and cool nights which made the wood stove inviting,
fly fishing ,hiking , photography, wildlife (elk, deer ,eagles, moose,mt goats )side trips to Blue Mesa and Black Canyon of the Gunnision ,Weston Pass,Quandry lake,
Dream Stream at Eleven Mile)it's a wonderful place , thanks for the hospitality and opportunity to stay at your ranch...
Hope to visit again soon ...🐶
Great cabin in very peaceful setting. Have fished the DM Ranch before and it's great to be right there- highly recommend and will use it again
Really nice cabin up in the mountains, very quiet & secluded; one morning saw 2 huge bull Elk. I am an avid fly fisher but did not fish the property for 2 reasons : $70 charge;; and the stream looks pretty brushy & my wife is just learning , so we fished some of the nearby public waters which are more open. My only suggestion: on a multi-day stay (we were there 6 nights) I would recommend including at least one day of fishing on the property at no charge.. it might generate more interest
We were looking for a location where we could get away from Denver for a weekend and let our daughter and dog run amok, and boy oh boy did we find it. The scenery was fabulous and the cabin was perfect for what we were looking for. Weston pass is very accessible, so we drove up there and over to Leadville as the dog and daughter relaxed in the car. Next time we will make sure to bring hiking gear so we can summit Weston peak in the AM, and then navigate back to the cabin for some afternoon relaxation. Nonetheless everything was perfect in regards to our stay. Thanks!
I have never in my life seen so many stars! Serene solitude. The log cabin was beautiful! The upstairs bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The perfect place to get away from the grind of everyday living. Plenty of wildlife to see, from the elk in the morning retiring to their grassy beds, to the coyote racing across the open fields. This was our first stay in this kind of environment and we enjoyed it immensely. This cabin is one of the main reasons we are thinking of relocating to Colorado.
