Come relax at this charming updated one bedroom bungalow. It overlooks the waters of Wells Cove, a tributary to the Patuxent River which is itself, a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay. This cottage is secluded from the main house, surrounded by water and a wild flower meadow.
Somewhat secluded from neighbors and the main house, you'll find this cottage cozy and romantic. It is charmingly decorated with a blend of antiques and art deco pieces. Sitting on the back deck you can watch the wildlife on Wells Cove: blue herons, jumping fish, ospreys, and gulls. In addition you'll have access to a private pier on the Cove where you can canoe, fish and crab. Head to the private swimming pool, located on the property, for a nice swim during those warm sunny days. The pool is stocked with many amenities including chaises, umbrellas, tables and rafts which you'll have access to.
Feel free to take the canoe out on the water or bring your own kayaks or similar small craft to enjoy on the Cove. Just outside your door you can enjoy swimming, boating, water sports, and crabbing! Other things to enjoy locally include nature walks/hiking on American Chestnut Land Trust trails and at Cypress Swamp Park, charter fishing at Solomons Island, fossil hunting at Calvert Cliffs State Park and wine tours at local vineyards. Look out for outdoor concert series happening during your time of stay. The Calvert Marine Museaum and Jeffeson Patterson Park Museum are two other great locations to visit.

Owner / Property Manager purchased this cottage in 1930
I was very pleased with my stay and everything was exactly as describe. I will be booking here again next year and perhapes every year from now on. The serinity and nature surronding the cottage is peaceful and soothing but the hussle and bussle of town is only a stones throw away. There is an excellent family run tavern just 2 miles up the road with great food. The only surprise I found was the outside shower so if you can't handle a few little spiders or respect the bay by using suppied bath products then this rental won't suit your needs...But when was the last time you showered under the stars? I give this place 2 thumbs up
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage, although we only stayed three nights. The furnishings are unique, eclectic with antiques. We had privacy, and help if we needed it. Everything was supplied and we were able to get more if we needed it. The double bed is a challenge for two people but we managed. There is a very small kitchen and bathroom with a shower outside. The deck is a perfect place to enjoy the serenity of watching birds, gazing at the cove, or spending the night looking at the stars. Places to eat were within reasonable distance as were activities such as sightseeing, checking out the lighthouses or shopping on Solomen's Island. Plenty of information and maps of the area are available in the cottage. Make sure to check the times and days that places of interest are open! We were disappointed about being unable to see Calvert Cliffs due to the long walk to the beach and if we return we will head instead to the points or the campgrounds. On our one rainy day, we just hung out at the cottage, relaxing in the cozy cottage. This retreat is well worth the cost!
Very cute cottage. Surrounded by lovely scenery, nature, and wildlife, it was absolutely lovely.
Beautiful and airy. Loved our time and our stay. Can't wait to return!
Hubby and I closed out our anniversary with a stay at this cute little spot! BEST CHOICE EVER!!!! The anticipation was so exciting and was all we talked about for weeks. And then the day came! When we walked in the door, we fell in love! This little peace of heaven FAR exceeded our expectations! I am a self-proclaimed "hotel-snob". The owner did an excellent job with the maintenance. The home is very clean and neat. Passed my "clean test" with flying colors!!
Like so many others, the outdoor shower was intriguing. We were a little nervous our first time. That, too, exceeded our expectation. It was so exciting taking a shower outside (wink wink!!!!!!!). And we did every chance we got! Also, the kitchen area was really nice. We were happy to not have to cook for a couple days.
We visited the area, ate great food and took in some spectacular sites. This has been a wonderful weekend. We have decided that we will make this an annual thing!
The only things that made our stay uncomfortable was the lack of window treatment in the living area and bathroom. It would've been nice to have the option to pull the blinds at night or during trips to the bathroom. Also, the living room configuration was a little challenging. Sharing the sofa closest to the tv caused neck pain and sitting on the sofa across the room caused a little eye strain. But, we watched the TV so little that it didn't matter. And finally, we were unable to connect to the Wifi. None of these, however, were deal breakers! We will be back regardless!!!!!
So many of our friends are already checking this place out for their next getaway!!!
My husband and I wanted a relaxing spot to spend a few night while our youngest daughter was at a leadership camp in D.C. The bungalow was the perfect spot. The setting was very peaceful and we enjoyed hanging out at the pool all by our selves. Don't be worried about the out door shower, it was fine.
