Why Beth Ham @ Lake Tahoe Mountain Vacations chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

We are a family of five and love that Northstar is a full feature resort both in the winter and summer.

What makes this studio unique

With the room in the village and a few steps from the gondola, as parents we like that our kids can take off on their own for a day of skiing/riding, hiking, swimming, or shopping and meals at the village.

Great Hoiday Week!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son and I stayed here for 4 nights/5 days during the Holiday break. The condo was very clean and in a great location. We were right in the village and steps away from the gondola which made for a nice skiing experience. The unit also provides a locker to hold all of your equipment. Beth was very helpful and we will definitely be back!

Just as advertised, very clean, great location.

My elderly father and I stayed here for a few nights. He uses a wheelchair and walker and had no problems navigating the studio. The parking lot is bumpy, but from the elevator into the studio it's a smooth ride. It is very clean and has everything we needed. The manager provided a wonderful list of things to bring; all linens and dishes were supplied. It was perfect for us. Being 20 minutes from either the lake or Truckee was wonderful; so many restaurants and activities! I'd recommend this without hesitation.

Not a great experience

  • 2 of 5

When we arrived, we opened the door and immediately smelled a bad odor. Someone had left raw meat in the freezer and there had apparently been a power outage. We immediately called the property manager to report the problem. She told us there were no replacement refrigerators and no other rooms to move us to. My husband moved the fridge to the deck to eliminate the bad smell in the room. We had stopped and bought groceries before arriving and had to go back to town to buy a cooler and ice to keep our food cold.

The weather was very warm and muggy, so our room was stuffy and hot when we arrived. I turned on the a.c. and it rattled loudly like an old truck. We tried turning it off that night to sleep, but there was so much noise in the parking lot below we had to leave the slider shut and the air conditioner on. I reported it to the manager and she sent me an email from the owner saying basically "they all do that". I have a window a.c. unit and beg to differ.

The unit was roomy and well equipped. I loved the big bathroom but the shower curtain was stained brown and yellow and needed replacing.

We loved the convenience of being right in the Village, but would not stay in this unit again. All we were offered was a late check out ( which we didn't need) for the problems we encountered.

Owner's Response: As the vacation manager of this condo who deals with all guests, I felt terrible about a prior guest leaving something in the fridge and the resulting in a bad smell (it had penetrated the ice cubes and although the cleaners had cleaned it out, by the time these guests had arrived the smell must have gotten very bad). I would have gladly moved the guests but unfortunately my other units were booked over the holiday weekend. I thought the problem was resolved when they said they would move the mini-fridge outside. Had I known they wanted a cooler I would have brought one over. I and the owner have subsequently checked the A/C unit. It is your typical window mount unit with integrated compressor and it makes the usual sounds for such a unit. I have been renting this condo for 5 years and never have had a complaint about the A/C unit. I apologized, but there was nothing I could do or say to remedy this concern as this is normal operation. We constantly get compliments on the convenient village location of this condo, it being cozy, and its proximity to everything. And after managing 10 condos over 10 years this is our first unsatisfied guest review. Upon their arrival we received calls and emails about the parking space being outdoors, the unit being in a poor location (it is in the heart of the village), noise (you can hear village sounds when the window is open), the refrigerator and the A/C. I did everything possible to accommodate the guests and have offered a one night refund (33% discount), but have yet to hear from them. I want all our guests to be happy with their stays with us and having rented to over 1000 families, the vast majority are. I plan to continue to provide excellent service and wonderful places to stay at Northstar for our guests, I am just sorry about this poor experience, but there was nothing I could do to please these guests.

Enjoyed our stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed in this studio for two nights at the end of the winter ski season. With 2 adults and 2 kids under age 4, it was cozy and comfortable. The room was clean, had all the expected necessities, and best of all was in a great location just steps from restaurants, the ice rink, etc. Booking with the owner was efficient and easy. It was a pleasant stay and I'd stay there again.

Great Condo, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from 4 nights at this condo. It was very comfortable and the great location in the heart of the village made it very convenient. I slept great on the large bed, and the other amenities made my stay very enjoyable. I'd definitely stay here again.

Great Condo

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here in the summer during mt. bike season. Great location, right in the village, you'll never have to move your car or bike more than a few yards to the lifts. The owners were awesome and really great to work with. I didn't get a chance to explore the resorts amenities, but I would definitely stay here again.
