With meticulous attention to detail, Casa Perla reflects the rich color, texture and artistry of the Yucatan. It features unique hand stenciling throughout the home as is traditional in the beautiful haciendas of the region. All of the doors, cabinets and furniture are locally handmade with the finest craftsmanship.
Three of the 4 bedrooms have king-size beds and the 4th has 1 bunk bed - perfect for children. Each has a picture postcard view of the sea or jungle, top-of-the-line Sealy Pillow Top mattresses, custom handmade draperies with blackout lining, and air conditioning for a restful sleep on imported 600 thread-count sheets.
Every bedroom has a private bathroom with sinks and countertops cut from local stones and exquisite fossilized shells. Each is appointed with the highest quality 100% Turkish cotton towels.
Casa Perla boasts two well-appointed kitchens with gorgeous Mexican granite countertops. You will arrive to find each fully stocked including a coffee maker, blender and microwave. The downstairs kitchen is poolside so you are just steps away from an ice-cold Mexican beer or chips and freshly made guacamole.
Each of Casa Perla’s kitchens have a view of the jungle and the stunning Mayan sunset. It’s not unusual to see an amazing array of colorful birds. Our binoculars and books will help you to identify them though it will be easy to spot our gorgeous pink flamingos!
The upstairs dining room seats 8 comfortably and 6 can be seated downstairs.
Each of the two large family rooms features a 42” flat screen TV and opens to one of our four outdoor verandas.
In addition to our verandas, Casa Perla has a rooftop deck with stunning 360-degree views. Wake up early and listen to the waves crashing on the shore as you watch the sun rise over the Caribbean. In the daytime the verandas are a perfect place to appreciate the flora and fauna of the Mayan jungle. There are literally thousands of rainbow-colored flowers and birds. And to see the sun set over the ancient Mayan jungle is breathtaking.
Casa Perla is only 50 meters (165 feet) from the water’s edge. Guests enjoy great shelling along the secluded beach or spectacular snorkeling and scuba diving directly in front of the house. If you visit between mid-May and November you can experience one of nature’s most unforgettable sights – Loggerhead, Green and Hawksbill turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in May and the hatchlings dash for the sea in November.
If you don’t feel like visiting the beach, our dark-bottom pool is as refreshing as it is beautiful. Comfortable lounge chairs were custom-made to enjoy a great book or relax with a chilled margarita. A wall surrounding the perimeter of the house assures total privacy as you bathe in the sun or enjoy a poolside bbq fiesta. Tulum is a magical place and we had the chance to first experience it 20 plus years ago…...it remained in our heart and mind for another 13 years. When our son was born we would often take him to the very chilly beaches we have here in Northern California – one day my little frozen child looked at me and asked “mommy, do they have warm beaches?” A few months later we planned our trip back to Tulum and rented a house on Tankah Bay. We purchased the lot that week and began to build our slice of heaven, in October of 2009. The artistry and beauty of the great haciendas of Merida, and the Yucatan were our inspiration for Casa Perla del Mar. The inspiration for the name of our home however, is our dog Perla. We are of course, pet friendly! The Yucatan has something unique to fall in love with on every visit. Having been blessed with the opportunity to travel the world – Tulum remains at the top of the list.

Perfect home for our trip to Tulum!
6 of my girlfriends and I came to Casa Perla del Mar for a weekend away and could not have been happier with the house. The house was so lovely, just as it's pictured, and the air conditioning kept us cool at night. The views were beautiful (especially from the rooftop!), and the area felt very safe.
One thing I did want to mention for future travelers, we did have a difficult time finding the house as we arrived at night and the address does not provide much detail as to where the house is located. We printed out a map from VRBO of where the house was, but our shuttle driver from the airport still could not find it. We later found out that explaining we live by "Casa Cenote" made it very clear to taxi drivers (the house is just past Casa Cenote, a little less than a mile down the same road). The cenote is a well known destination and a great reference point. We also spent a morning snorkeling in the cenote, which I highly recommend! The water is incredible, it's a great way to kick off a day in paradise.
Thank you Victor, we hope to visit again in the future!
Exceptional Compound on the Mayan Riviera
We LOVED our stayed in this immaculate custom built home with our family and had an exceptional experience. After driving through a security gate with 24/7 security guards, and a long drive down a bumpy road, we came to a beautiful and colorfully painted private residence. Upon opening the gates and driving into our beautiful complex we were thrilled to feel like we had entered our own private paradise. Patricia and Victor have thought of everything and this lovely home away from home was full of special details. The space is larger than expected complete with two fully equipped kitchens on both the upper and lower levels depending on whether you prefer dining with a view of your very own private pool and palm trees or you prefer a view of the ocean and jungle on the upper kitchen levels. Grey, the housekeeper could not have been sweeter or more helpful and she was there every morming to clean the kitchens, bathrooms and to make the beds. She was also available to prepare breakfasts or other meals per our request as long as we provided the groceries. Grey was so helpful and stocked with everyhting you need away from home. There are four gigantic bedrooms some with interior bathrooms and all total there are four bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. Every day the beds were made and our bathrooms were cleaned. We were provided extra large towels for the bathrooms as well as to take along for beach adventures. We loved sitting on the roof top and felt like we were overlooking paradise. The full moon was spectacular rising over the ocean. The custom built in couches and tables on the roof top made our experience all the more enjoyable. The description just can not accurately describe all of the many details of the architecture, design, the fans, the lighting, the list just goes on and on. There are powerful air conditioning units in each bedroom, so sleeping was exceptionally comfortable. There were sliding doors everywhere, so we felt very connected to the outdoors. We were within walking distance of several boutique hotels where we could enjoy fine dining, breakfast, lunch, or dinner as well as world class snorkeling (we were told by a local dive master, that some of the best dive spots are just in front of the area where we were staying and out in front of the Blue Sky Lodge.) We felt extremely safe in the private and secluded area. Exceptional experience Cherished memories...we will ABSOLUTELY be back
Lives up to to reviews!
There is a reason why this place is 5 star rated...because every aspect of the stay is 5 stars. From the home itself, to the caretakers & cook, to the owners availability should you have any questions or issues. We simply could not have been happier with Casa Perla Del Mar and we were delighted to get lucky enough to be there during turtle season! It really was something else to just walk across the street, be on the ocean and then catch both mama turtles and baby turtles everywhere. Then, wake up the next day and simply walk to a cenote! Bottom line, if you are looking for a perfectly maintained, private and relaxing villa with the best caretakers, book now and look no further.
Perfect Vacation Home
We are a family of two grandparents, two parents, and three active grandsons. We just stayed at Casa Perla for spring break 2017 and the grounds and home could NOT have been more perfect. The property was beautifully maintained by two caretakers and the cook provided us with delicious dinners. We did some exploring around Tulum but pretty much stayed at the villa.
So relaxing and can't wait to return.
We did have intermittent WiFi connection but the owner was very responsive and contacted the WiFi company who replaced some equipment which improved the service. It gave us all the opportunity to have more human conversations and less devices.
Beautiful villa in a very private setting
Casa Perla del Mar is quite stunning. The house is very spacious with lots of private settings to enjoy privacy and a break from your travel companions. The house is spotless and the grounds are maintained besutifully. The pool is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy drinks and the sun. Wi fi works great in case you need to some work. The area is very safe and there are three restaurants and a cenote within walking distance. I highly recommend Casa Perla del Mar.
Magnificent Casa de Perla!
This was my 2nd time to this beautiful home and it was even more stunning the 2nd time! The home is beautifully decorated with gorgeous and unique artworks. Nice layout of the home with plenty of room for 4 couples each with their own bedroom and bath. The yard was so nice and relaxing and dips in the pool were refreshing. Roof top sunrises and sunsets looking at the ocean and the jungle were magical. All though we could have just stayed at this beautiful home all the time, it was close to the town of Tulum and their gorgeous white sand beaches and fantastic restaurants which we enjoyed very much. A trip to Coba is also a must see - very interesting! The temperatures, light breezes and calm relaxing place to come home to made the entire stay memorable. Hope to go back many more times!
A beautiful Cenote can be found 1 km from our house. A Cenote is an aquifer with crystal clear water and are uniquely found in this part of Mexico. Casa Perla is located 50 meters from the water's edge and May through November, you can experience one of nature's miracles. Over 150 Leatherback turtles come to nest and hatch at the beach in front of our house. The Leatherback is an endangered species and these turtles have been nesting in this same spot for hundreds of years.
