The guest unit downstairs has 2BR's (2 Queen Beds and two foldout twins) with separate kitchen and bath. This can be rented as a one or two BR option. $65/1br $85/2br. The entire house includes the guest unit and upstairs which has Master BR, Kitchen, DR, LR and 1 1/2 baths. BBQ, wifi and Satellite TV with all the sports and movie channels. Snorkel gear, fishing gear, and beach chairs/umbrellas . Ask about fishing trips and kiteboard lessons. Rent an 4X4 SUV for $35 day or $225 week. The place is too cool, and basically on the beach as it's on the main beach access just a 20 meter skip to the beach. Includes Flatscreens in LR and BR, wifi, & vonage phone. The beach is the nicest swimming beach in the area. It's the value in the area by far. Take advantage of the pool, swim up bar, and restaurant and Spa services at the Buena Vista Hotel just four houses down the beach. You will be welcome there. Quads are allowed on our beach which I can provide a 15% discount from the local rental shop. Jet skis, kayaks, and charter boats are available at the Hotel. Damn, we have to charge 16% IVA tax that is charged on everything you buy in Mexico

Jeff purchased this house in 2007

50 feet from one of the nicest sandy beaches on East Cape
Everything was perfect for us during our stay at Jeff's house. We rented the guest unit downstairs so we didn't see the rest of the house - but I'm sure it is great. The beds were comfy - we slept great. Loved the outdoor shower - awesome water pressure! Great AC units in both bedrooms and kitchen - very necessary to sleep. There was snorkeling gear and boogie boards there to use. The house is one house away from the beach, which is perfect for swimming with small kids. The best part for us was the access to the Buena Vista Resort which is a 5 minute walk down the beach. The pool there is amazing - swim up bar where you can order food as well, hot tub, great service. Rocco the dog was a highlight too. He is SO sweet and our daughter loved him! Jeff was super accommodating - there were two huge bottles of water in the fridge for us when we arrived and he met us with a smile and an offer of anything we needed! The only drawback if I had to pick one is that the kitchen wasn't very well equipped - not really enough silverware/dishes for more than two or three people. We didn't need it as we had friends staying nearby and we either ate out or ate at their place every night. But for people who really want to cook in the kitchen, it could pose an issue. But other than that, everything was perfect! We will be back! Thanks Jeff!
We rented the entire house for 10 nights and the layout of Jeff's place was ideal for our family! My husband & I stayed in one of the downstairs bedrooms, our 4-year-old son took the 2nd bedroom downstairs and my parents were very comfortable in the master suite on the 2nd floor. The suite on the lower floor includes it own small kitchen & bathroom which was allowed us our own space when we needed it. The living room, dining room & kitchen area on the second floor has lovely views of the sea, and opening all the windows allowed the ocean breeze to flow through the living space which was great. The kitchen had all the basic essentials we needed including 2 blenders that came in handy for afternoon pina coldas & margaritas! We had Norma Romero & her family prepare meals for us several times and the food was awesome :)
The roof top patio has unobstructed 360 degree views and we spent a lot of our evenings up there enjoying the sunsets & the sound of the waves. There is AC available throughout the house but we only found we needed it on a couple of nights.
Jeff had a beach umbrella at the house which came in handy, and a boogie board available which our son (and my husband!) loved using. I know he usually has an ATV for rent as well but it wasn't avaible during our stay. If you do have the chance to use the ATV though I would recommend it as the beach goes for miles and can easily be explored with the right vehicle. The area the house is in is called Buena Vista and all the locals & visitors we met were really friendly and we always felt safe, day or night. As other guests have metioned the hotel a 5 min walk down the beach has a nice restaurant & an awesome pool area with swim up pool bar that you can use. Apparently they charge $10 USD a day to access the pool facilities, but we had some friends who were staying at the hotel and they didn't charge us the day rate. The town of Los Barriles is a quick 10 min drive away and has a number of great little restaurants & shops to check out. If you are looking for gifts, art or souveniers we found that the store El Toro y La Luna which is on the hwy just past the entrance to Los Barriles on the left side of the road was amazing with some really unique finds. Chapitos was great for groceries but Tienda Popular seemed to be where the locals go and the prices were a bit cheaper. You can get your gallon water bottles refilled at the water depot just up the road from Tienda Popluar for around $1.50 USD.
Could be a great economical rental with a little maintenance and TLC, along with clear communication to provide folks a welcoming feel. Trouble spots include inside shower that dribbled water, no washcloths, oven unusable because knob is missing, (host provided a pliers to turn it on when asked), kitchen sink stopped up and garbage disposal not working but was fixed after 2nd day. No pots for boiling water but host provided one from upper unit when we asked. Provided 6 liters of drinking water. No couch. No table in kitchen. Plastic patio table and chairs in outdoor courtyard function as dining area and are old and unsteady, should be replaced. Beach chair are rusty, unstable, uncomfortable, unsafe, unusable. Outside shower and fish cleaning station are provided. Rusty wires for clothes line leave permanent rust on clothing so hangers should be used - good documentation tip. Host considered uncharging us for using two bedrooms in the unit but didn't when we explained that there is no information about which room is included in the one-bedroom versus 2-bedroom charge and no one was there upon our arrival to provide more information. Listing is unclear and confusing regarding what is provided when renting the lower level versus just the upper level versus the entire building.
When we arrived we were greeted by two quiet dogs shut inside the courtyard fence surrounding the building. Once we figured out how to enter the courtyard gate and figured out which door was the unit itself, we found hand-written note inside explaining host's whereabouts, the dogs' names, Wifi password, but no documentation on the unit or the grounds. Host appeared at 10:00 pm to check in with us and we discovered he stayed in the upper unit after he popped his head over the top of the courtyard the next morning during our breakfast. Fountain in courtyard can be powered on as the host told us after the 3rd day - it did attract two hummingbirds which was nice.
Must have an automobile to get food and necessities, sightsee and go to restaurants.
Our family rented the two bedroom casita in the downstairs part of the property, which included a beautiful courtyard with a relaxing central fountain...The property is nice and tidy perfectly located one house from the sand!! We rented the quad, swam, fished, hiked and very much enjoyed our trip to Los Barriles...Jeff is very accommodating and helps you thru out your stay if needed, and don't forget an incredible roof top deck!! We are looking forward to our return and staying longer In this wonderful community!!
Location was right next to the beach, plenty of room, tv, internet, laundry was all there. Jeff told me of all the good spots to eat and was just a phone call away.
We rented the whole house for a week with 2 other couples (ages 30-40). Beautiful home, great location, plenty of space. We were luck enough to get the master bedroom/bath. Woke up every morning with the sunrise on our small balcony. Then, either drank coffee on the rooftop deck or on the beach - house is one house away from the beach. The two other couples each had their own rooms and shared a bathroom. The kitchen/dining/living area is separate, so if some wanted to stay up later, the noise was minimal. We spent a lot of time on the rooftop deck in the am and pm. Just a few doors down is the Hotel Spa Buena Vista. Supposedly they have recently started charging $10/day to hang out there, but we were never charged. Just walked in, ordered a drink and snacks... Although, we did not spend much time there. Spent some quality time on the beach and drove a couple times down to 9 Palms (1.5 hours on a mostly dirt road - conditions vary - only one flat tire) to surf. Great spot for intermediate/beginners, depending upon the swell of course. The house is a few miles from Los Barriles, where you pretty much have to go for groceries and dining. We rented a car for the week and it worked out great. Not sure about the bus schedule. Jeff is easy and accommodating. His paddle board was recently broken - not sure if he is going to replace - but you can rent paddle boards in town as well.
Mountain bike trails nearby. Rental include temporary use of the Spa Hotel only a 3 minute walk down the beach. Pool, Bar, Restaurant, Masseuse.
