RENTER BEWARE
We have rented many homes around the world. This was by far the worst experience we ever had.
When we arrived after a 10-hour drive, the outside of the house looked unkept and in need of a power wash. The kitchen had been superficially “cleaned” but the cabinets were so sticky, we had to pull hard to open them! Cabinet handles were either loose or falling off. The pantry and refrigerator had opened food remaining. The glasses and dishes were mis-matched garage sale items that all needed cleaning.
The deck and outdoor patio table and chairs hadn’t been cleaned in months, (green pollen residue remained from the spring and this was July). The grill was moldy, sticky and unsanitary and the deck was covered in black mold and in need of repair.
Several things were not working and we received notice of some of those items from the owner as we were driving to the house. The cooktop didn’t work! The sign over the tub in the master bedroom says its not working.
We contacted the owner to offer to have our own cleaning person to come in and clean up. She forced us to leave the house immediately, threatening to call the police on us and leave now!
To date, we have only received a partial refund of our payments. She has withheld over $2,400 of the $6,000 we paid.
VRBO has provided little to no assistance in helping us get our money back despite extensive documentation and photographs.
My advice is to look for another house before you rent this one.
