Located above the famous Bel Air Hotel in the heart of Bel Air, this beautiful cottage overlooks Los Angeles with a full vista of the city from downtown to the ocean. The property is just minutes from Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, The Getty Center, UCLA and twenty minutes from the Pacific Ocean, Santa Monica and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). All major attractions are nearby - including, DisneyLand, the Griffith Observatory the Hollywood Sign and movie studio tours for Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount and Universal Studios.
The guesthouse cottage is located within a gated private estate and is perfect for guests wanting elegant seclusion but easy access. The guesthouse has a queen-sized bed, kitchenette, private bathroom w/shower, and cable TV. There is a salt-water swimming pool and a patio/sitting area overlooking tiered cascading gardens with panoramic views of the city.
I stayed for six nights at this charming bungalow. It was perfect for me. The spectacular view has already been mentioned. The small kitchen of microwave and half-fridge was all I required, and the bathroom was supplied with fluffy towels and a variety of products. The bed was very comfortable and made with high-quality linens and pillows. I slept VERY well. The space was spotless. While it was too cold to use the pool, the owners make it clear that I was welcome to share it with them, as well help myself to the oranges from the trees! The owners are very friendly but work long hours during the week, so other than housekeeping and landscaping personnel, you have the place to yourself. There is a designated parking place onsite. The location was perfect for me and convenient to UCLA, Santa Monica, and West L.A. You're not far from Mulholland Drive and quick routes into the Valley. It felt very safe; I slept with the door open to the screen to get cool night air. There's also convenient access to the 405 via Sunset Blvd. This property may not be perfect for those who want to sleep late and would be bothered by renovation construction noise from the neighborhood. My Verizon cell coverage was spotty. Also, the blinds are not completely opaque, so total privacy at night is not possible with the lights on inside. But for me, it was absolutely perfect. I really felt like I was leaving my own bungalow. I look forward to returning!
I just returned from a 6 night stay and I must confess, I felt like I was leaving my new west coast home! The cottage was perfect for me in every way. As others have exclaimed, the views are exceptional. Where else could you walk onto your deck and simultaneously see Downtown, Century City, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and the Pacific? Wow. Just wow. Having a small kitchen was perfect for my needs. The bathroom, while small, is thoughtfully appointed with lush towels and bath products and a hairdryer. The bed was super-comfy, with high-quality linens, blankets, and pillows that were perfect. I slept really well in the cool February mountain air. Because the owners are busy professionals, I only saw them briefly, never felt I was intruding on their privacy (nor vice versa, of course), and I enjoyed talking with them both. As it was chilly during my stay, I never used the pool, but I was invited to enjoy a fresh orange from their trees. Yum! I will say that if you wish to sleep late, you may need earplugs. There is the typical construction/renovation ongoing in the neighborhood, and it started around 7:30/8:00 AM, but was never a problem. As for location, I found it very convenient. To go to the Valley, you're just a short drive up to Mulholland and then over. Easy routes to everywhere on the west side. There's no truly ideal location in Los Angeles for exploring, but I feel this is one of the best located because no matter where you are, you're going to be in a car and that's just the reality of the city. It's truly a different experience than staying in a hotel - one that I always find much preferable, so I am very happy to recommend this charming guest house. I sure hope it's available when I return!
If We ever go back to the Los Angeles area We would stay here again! The views alone are worth it. We could have spent the whole weekend sitting on the back patio enjoying taking in the hills and the city in the distance.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and use of the pool.
The studio is as described and the pictures are accurate.
We did many tourist activities all over greater Los Angeles including Venice Beach, farmers market, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and this studio rental was just a short drive to all of those places.
I would recommend staying here.
The cottage is cute. More comfort than luxury but with spectacular canyon views.
Like all addresses in Bel-Air it's difficult to find. I used the Waze app which worked brilliantly.
There is a coffee maker but don't forget to bring coffee like I did because it's miles to the local Starbucks.
My wife and I had a busy trip planned with a lot of L.A. boxes to check but it's so quiet here and the the bed is great so there was a lot of sleeping in instead. Well that's why it's called a vacation.
I am almost reluctant to tell you how amazing Gordon and Atsuko's vacation home really is...I want to keep this gem to myself! Seriously, everything about this home is first class! The owners are friendly and welcoming, the bed is so comfortable you won't want to get up and the VIEW! I have been to LA quite a bit and have never experienced how the "rich and famous" live until now. Thank you again for sharing your lovely home and of course your sweet dog Jack! I hope to return soon.
How else would we be able to feel like we are living in Bel Air? The winding drive up through all the gated drives and mansions was so intriguing and breath-taking. We felt like natives of the area. The view from the back of the pool house was stunning during the day and even more at night! We would definitely return when we could stay longer!!
We are located in the heart of Bel Air. We are just above UCLA and adjacent to Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. Our property has views of the entire city and the ocean.
