About Sage Aronson

I am a bit of a jack of all trades. I am attending graduate school in neuroscience but have worked for a while as a general contractor.

Sage Aronson purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Sage Aronson chose Maine

Our family built this house in 1999 after falling in love with the area and the people of Downeast Maine. I've gone up every year since!

What makes this cabin unique

The lobster is great and, if I happen to be up while you rent the house, I love taking folks out to haul traps (we have 15 in the coves around the cabin). Also, as a cyclist, the scenic Maine roads are some of the best.

Perfect Downeast location with great sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this Downeast cabin and its gorgeous location. The cabin is set on such a beautiful spot it is hard to leave for the day though there is so much do from here. We started the day with coffee out on the rocks with view views views! The kitchen is nicely stocked to cook a nice meal with plenty of counter space and tools needed. Showering outdoors is a great way o start and end the day- especially at sunset (unbelievable!). We hiked Great Wass Island, got our fresh lobster right off the boat (three nights!) and cooked outdoors with the supplied lobster pot. We had dinner every night outside either at the picnic table set on the small beach area watching sunset or at the table on the grass- watching the sunset. There's plenty of days trips from this spot...Campobello Island, Roque Cliffs, Coastal Cruisin boat trip and just plain hiking the island are all a must. We found a "secret" swimming spot offered up by Sage, who is a pleasure to work with. The other notes left by the family were spot on and very very helpful. We really enjoyed this cabin and hope to be back time and again!

Exceptional place

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time ever in Maine, and it was more than what we had expected. The cabin was so homey and relaxing. The view was beautiful in the morning, at night and even during the fog. There isn't much to do on the island but relax, so if that is what you want to do, this is the place. It was hard to leave. You could go out on the stones and listen to the waves come in or just sit and admire the view. It was fun watching the lobster boats come and go. We did get to go on a ride with one of them and it was just breath taking. You must go down on the docks and get a fresh lobster they were delicious. Thank you so much for sharing your home.

Best vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

Where to begin? This place is amazing. Pure nature, the coziest cabin imaginable, peace and solitude. My family of five had a fantastic time at this place. My three children loved the lofts and the little bunks. They loved the freedom of running around outside without disturbing any neighbors. We sat on the rocks every day and watched gorgeous sunsets....just us, no crowd of people! There is so much to do in this area; one day we took a daytrip to Canada's Campobello Island (I highly recommend this trip), another day we went to Jasper Beach (a million rocks that glisten red, the only other beach of this nature is in Japan). If you go to Campobello, you must hike up the lighthouse at the tip of the island! You can only go up at low tide. We hiked the trails on Great Wass and were rewarded with watching seals hanging out on the rocks. We saw a bald eagle every morning, while we were having coffee outside on the deck. We bought lobsters (5 for $35!!!) and cooked them at the cabin. We bought mussels and clams for $15 and had more than enough for five people. One day we went to the sandy beach in Roque Cliffs. Besides all that, we enjoyed just staying at the cabin....reading, watching netflix, hanging out on the rocks and watching the tide. One morning we watched a magnificent lightning storm that played out right in front of us on the ocean. Most days we had beautiful weather-some fog in the morning that lifted by 9am. The outdoor shower is out of this world. The indoor shower stayed dry all week, everyone loved showering outside too much. One night we made a fire and roasted marshmallows. This was probably the best vacation my family ever had, and we are experienced beach-rental-vacationers. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Sage was very easygoing, we had absolutely no problems whatsoever. If you like peace, quiet, nature, seafood and the ocean, this is the place to be!

What a great and amazing location---the solitude, the beauty, the serenity---gorgeous sunsets. The house was furnished with all one could need. My wife and I could not have enjoyed it more. Coming from the "natural state" to this wonderful island destination was beyond our dreams. And we did enjoy fresh lobster, fresh picked mussels, scallops, and crab. Having my sister and her husband who live year round on the island made this just a superb week.

A Relaxing Pearly Vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a great vacation my wife and I had at this great getaway cabin on Beals Great Wass Island. My wife and I own a pizza shop in Vermont and when we go on vacation we like to find peaceful, quiet and relaxing places to stay. Well let me tell ya this cabin has all That to offer. The only time it may not be quiet is when waves come crashing on the rocky shore. But this is what we come to Maine for, the beauty of the ocean and Maine’s rocky coast. Every year we look for an oceanfront property to spend our vacation in Maine. We are so glad we found this place. We love to sit by the ocean and watch the tides come in and go out. There is even a picnic table right on the shore at this property. We spent most of our vacation just staying at the cabin and enjoying the ocean. One morning we woke up to see two beautiful deer right on the lawn. What a beautiful sight that was. A rabbit also came to visit us. I did go to Great Wass Preserve and did some hiking. I ate lobsters ever night while I was there. I was able to score some great lobsters at the Coop not too far from the cabin. I did some clam digging on the island and had a great experience. I found a pearl in one of the clams when I was eating it. What a find that was. If you are looking to get away from it all and just relax I would highly recommend this property. The sunsets are phenomenal and if you go there make sure to take an outside shower. It will blow you away.

Spectacular Views and a beautiful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I don't even know where to start with this vacation rental. I wasn't sure what to expect when we booked it online, but once we got out of our car and walked to the front of the property we were amazed by the beauty and breathtaking views. It exceeded our expectations. Once we got inside the cabin we were so happy with it. It was very clean, cozy and inviting. It has everything you need and more from kitchen gadgets, spices, to books, board games and puzzles. We were delighted with all the little details of this cabin. Our kids loved this cabin as much as we did!!!!

We wanted to explore a little so we hiked a few hiking trails around the island and a few others around. We went on scenic rides, fishing, shopping in Bar Harbor and visit Acadia. One hike we recommend is Quoddy Head in Lubec. This is our favorite hike ever! Bring your camera for sure!!!!

We can not thank Sage and his family enough for sharing their piece of ocean. We had such a great time and were so happy with this property that we can not wait to go back again, hopefully next year. I would give this place a 10...If what you are looking for a peaceful place where you can recharge, look no further!!!!!
