Absolutely beautiful little 2 bedroom cottage! Super clean! Fantastic view! All the amenities of home, this place has everything you need. We have been enjoying the Port Austin area for around 45 years, and this trip was no exception. Even without air conditioning, we were able to stay fairly cool because of all the windows and two floor fans. The only thing we would add are blinds on the master bedroom. We were unable to have any privacy because there were no blinds on the master bedroom windows, which look out onto the patio. Just like another review we read, the neighbors are quite close, but they packed up and left on Sunday night.
We are return guests to this lovely cottage and hope to return many, many more! Pulling into the drive you immediately feel ready to relax! Fine Oaks Trail, from my own explorations of Port Austin, is one of the most idyllic places to rent a cottage because you are close to town and M25, but tucked behind the busy road on a delightful trail of cottages that follow the water, perfect for routine morning and evening strolls. The cottage itself, situated upon a bluff, allows you to soak up every bit of lake life from the time you wake until it's time to for stargazing. Lake breezes are AMAZING, sunset views are gorgeous. The cottage is amply equipped with everything you could desire and pampers the inspired chef! There is so much to do right there that short daytime outings might be nice but you will find yourself drawn right back to the fun and relaxation all provided for you there. The cottage is very beautiful and well-appointed and the bonfire pit is just incredible, you won't miss one night around the campfire. You must be prepared for very close neighbors but you will discover they are fantastic neighbors; friendly, kind, helpful, and welcoming, creating a sense of community. If you are looking for a more private, serene vacation you are likely to enjoy both because they typically depart at the weekend's end and you have the luxury of much privacy. I hate to review this cottage in fear of giving away our secret escape, but it's just too lovely not to tell others about. You will find the owner very accommodating and responsive to all your inquiries and will feel pampered and welcomed to the max!

Very nice cottage- so glad we rented it! It was super clean and everything you could want was provided. It has 1 full bathroom and one half bath that were very nice! The only thing that I would pass along is that there is no air conditioning but the windows and fans were enough to keep us cool. They had loads of games, books and movies in addition to cable tv. The house was great and I would stay again in a heartbeat! Comfy couches and beds. Laying in bed at night we could listen to the waves crash at the shore and see the starts. The Bonfire area with the chairs was awesome! The cottage had close neighbors but they left on Sunday so we had the entire beach area to ourselves the rest of the week. Great place- highly recommended!!
My husband, son, and I just returned from a week at this cottage in Port Austin, MI. We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the home. The home is decorated beautifully, the beds were comfortable, and the entire home is so well stocked that we needed for nothing. The view and the beach were breathtaking. The fire pit was so comfortably designed that we enjoyed fires on the cool evenings. We ventured out to the surrounding towns of Port Austin, as well as Port Austin itself. We also had a wonderful dinner at the Taproom at Bird Creek Farms in Port Austin, and the Port Austin Farmers Market on Saturday mornings is 2nd to none! We never found ourselves bored. It was the most perfect and relaxing vacation ever.
This home was perfectly located close to Port Austin but away from the fray. We biked to town with our kids, went canoeing, horseback riding and just enjoyed the beach and fire pit. Everything was clean and airy. The cottage was comfortable for our family of 5, even when we had dinner guests. Our week was cool but we had plenty to do!
My husband, two young sons, and I just returned from our stay in this amazing Port Austin cottage, and it was absolutely perfect for our little family in every single way. There are so many things we adored about this awesome cottage. First and foremost, the cottage itself was super clean, comfortable, and contained every single thing we could ever have needed for our vacation. We seriously could have only packed our clothes and toiletries and been well-equipped for the entire week. From spices in the cabinets for cooking to puzzles and DVDs for entertainment, I was blown away by how much thought was put into what a family might need while there. There were even hot dog roasting sticks! Furthermore, the furnishings in the cottage were excellent. I had to drag myself out of the bed every morning because it was so comfortable that I wanted to stay in it all day. For the first time ever, I saw my husband take a nap in the middle of the day because he said the couch was so comfortable that he couldn't help himself!
The location of the cottage was also perfect. The next-door neighbors were only present through the weekend, so through the week, we had the place basically to ourselves. The beach was awesome, and not having to load the kids and all our stuff up to drive to a beach was priceless. Instead, we just had to walk out the back door. Unfortunately, we were only able to enjoy a couple of days of playing in the water before a storm blew a ton of mess through that washed up on the beach, but prior to that, the water and beach were perfectly clear, and our boys had tons of fun. We even saw wild swans swimming close to the shore, which was a first for all of us.
My favorite part of the cottage, however, is the gorgeous view out the back windows. I loved being able to see the absolutely amazing sunsets every evening as we ate dinner and relaxed in the living area. When the sky was clear at night, the moon reflecting off the water was beautiful! My only suggestion would be to add some curtains or blinds so that those windows could be covered, if needed. When the neighbors were in the house next door, they could see right into the back bedroom and the dining area.
We fell in love with this little cottage (and Port Austin) and definitely hope to return in the future.
