We were looking for a convenient and reasonably priced place to stay while spending the weekend in DC. This absolutely hit the spot. Everything is as described. I agree with other reviews that the Wi-Fi was an issue but it looks like the manager has since updated the modem. As mentioned in another review, it would have been nice if there was a clothes rack or the ability to hang things in the closet. Laundry facilities came in handy and there were no issues there. A few great places nearby are Room 11 for cocktails and Bad Saint for Filipino food. I'd definitely stay here again and would recommend to others!
We spent three nights in this well-located and surprisingly sunny rental that is, somehow, larger than it looks in the photos while at the same time being pretty small. The kitchen is basic and we didn't actually cook in it, but it seemed to completely stocked, including an electric tea kettle --yay! (We added a small french press to the kitchen equipment so, future visitors who want a single cup of coffee, thank us.) The bed is comfortable and there is adequate lighting for reading and writing postcards. Hot water was plentiful and the tub was pretty darned fine. The decor was pleasantly eclectic and there was a surprising amount of storage.
What is missing: hangers, a place to hang anything, hooks, a closet, a strong internet connection. (Internet was weak, at best, throughout our visit though it definitely varied by time of day.)
The street is quiet and the whole neighborhood feels pretty safe. In addition to being a 5 - 10 minute walk from the subway station with connections to all the excitement of the district, the apartment is close to a street of fabulous restaurants and to a second street of shopping opportunities. The Coupe a block away offers decent baked goods and coffee to go as well as sit-down meal service--and, if internet is essential to you, the Coupe also offers wi-fi and comfy couches and armchairs. Giant Food isn't the highest-end grocery you'll ever experience, but it has pretty much every basic supply you're likely to want--and what you can't find there, you'll likely locate at the nearby Target.
Exchanges, via email, with the owner/manager were easy and pleasant. And, oh hey!, we found a couple of Pellegrino sodas, some bottled water, and a bottle of white wine awaiting us on arrival. What are you waiting for? Book it already!
One of the nicest properties we have stayed with VRBO! Nice walk to the Metro and DC!!! Grocery store really close. VRBO kitchen had everything we needed to cook! Internet was really slow. Free laundry in basement. Highly recommend to DC visitors!!!! Owners are great communicators!
As advertised. Very central -- near metro, grocery, restaurants, museums. Clean. Easy to access. Nicely managed. We liked it, and would stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was cozy and close to everything.
The apartment was in a terrific location and Elizabeth was very accommodating in modifying her minimum stay policy. A bottle of wine and some sparkling water awaited me on arrival. The property had all the needed amenities. I had a few questions after I arrived and Elizabeth was very responsive and helpful. Location, Location, Location!!! I would recommend this owner and property to anyone.
As far as location - I'm pretty sure you will love it here. We are located just 3 blocks away from the Columbia Heights metro station (green and yellow lines), so getting from our apartment downtown to National Mall is really easy and takes approx. 10 minutes by metro. There are many restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. A big shopping mall and Giant food store are just around the corner. Being close to city center and experience of living like a local is what visitors love about our property most.
