Skyleaf Mountain Villas is a community of six- four unit condos always in high demand because of the spectacular mountain views, easy access and friendly neighbors. Ours is a very private end unit set in the trees with level access, two covered rocking chair porches with sweeping views, comfy and cozy with a cabin feel. A stone woodburning fireplace, ceiling fans in every room, washer and dryer, fully equipped kitchen, three TV’s (one is a plasma) 2 VCR/DVD’s, books, movies, games, etc. for your use. Livingroom has four recliners and seats 7. Diningroom has seating for six plus 4 bar stools. Deluxe linens, blankets, quilts, towels, are all provided for you.
'Sugar Mountain' and 'Banner Elk' are so special. Ski slopes are accessable and ski buses pick you up right here in the Complex. Here on Sugar are hiking trails, a beautiful golf course, tennis courts, and, of course, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and much more. Banner Elk has an alpine feel and lots of restaurants, grocery stores, shops, hardware stores, etc. Boone is a short drive (30 minutes) and a college town…ASU..and offers plays, concerts, football and other sports, movies, and a great outlet center for shopping. Walking down Main Street is a flash back in time….antique shops, Mast General Store, cute eateries and Boone Drug Store still has old fashioned fountain service at the counter. The Daniel Boone Inn is a must for good old fashioned country cooking….and lots of it. If you love the outdoors you are in the right place with white water rafting, fishing, gem mining, boating, the new Zip Line, and all the winter sports. Don’t forget the charming General Stores with barbeque and Blue Grass Music. We have festivals of all kinds all year long. The lovely town of Valle Crucis is close with the famous original Mast General Store. Blowing Rock is a short drive and has great shops, antiques, restaurants and art shows in the Park regularly.
After all that…kick back here in your “Cabin in the Sky” with a good book…we have lots of them, rock on our covered decks, and enjoy the mountains. Build a log fire in the stone fireplace, put on a movie…we have those here for you…and relax in one of the four recliners. We have books, movies, tapes and games for you to enjoy.
Whether it is winter with all the snow activities, or fall looking at the beautiful leaves and going to festivals or summer months keeping cool and fishing and golfing and making your friends in the warm climates jealous….we have it all here on Sugar Mountain…and close by. I have a notebook for you here full of ideas on what to do, where to eat, etc and if you find some on your own, please share them with us. We want you to be comfortable and come back often.
Congratulations on choosing one of the best places to relax in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

About Vivian Hess
I am Vivian Hess, Retired RN, from Tallahassee, Florida. My husband, Bud, was a mountain guy and though he loved living on the beach in Florida he longed for mountains....he was from West Virginia. He was a CPA and as soon as tax season was over for him we headed to our mountains for peace and tranquility. Even though he is no longer with me I still return each year for the beauty, fun and such wonderful friends that we made up here. I can sit and relax on the deck with a book and gaze at Grandfather Mountain or join the neighbors for festivals. music, plays and great food....all in Banner Elk. This is definitely a healing place. I have also kept my townhouse that sits Gulf-front on Siesta Key in Sarasota, Fl...#2 beach in US this year. I rent it also.
Vivian Hess purchased this Condo in 1992
Why Vivian Hess chose Sugar Mountain
We found Sugar Mountain while visiting friends and fell in love with the beauty, the friendly folks, and the breathtaking views of the mountains from the two decks and big windows in our place. We live in an air conditioned world in Florida and love that we don't even own an air conditioner up here...don't need one...and often sleep under blankets in July...imagine. Our Florida friends can't believe this...Every season has so much to offer....summer....cool days and nights and golf and tennis, concerts, plays, hiking, white water rafting, etc. Fall with the gorgeous colors has festivals galore and art shows, etc, Winter has skiing, ice skating and all related sports right here on the mountain . All our grandchildren have grown up here on vacations doing all these things and more learning to ski, snowboard, and golf. Gem mining and trout fishing are among their favorites. We have spent many Christmases here in front of our wood burning fireplace with a local Frasier Fir tree making the place smell wonderful.

Rustic and quaint in great location with amazing views!
Just perferct for our quick getaway to the mountains! Very close to a lot hiking trails, two ski areas, golf, shopping, and great restaurants. Nice end unit with huge private deck and expansive view. Plenty of room inside and so glad we could bring our dog along for the fun. Fireplace was a great plus!
Thank you very much for your kind words. Come back often!
Condo dated and neglected
A disappointing few days at this condo. Rains were heavy at times and because of that the roof leaked and the carpets were saturated along the deck door. Two dining room chairs were broken and the sofas were tattered. We found the condo had large black ants in the kitchen and living room areas. The baking pans were old and burned with grease stains. Several cups on the kitchen hangers were dirty as were many glasses. I would not come back to this condo.I
The condo was perfect. It was well stocked with everything we needed.
There was plenty of room for my husband and I, as well as our two teenagers.
The owners were easy to contact and had everything organized.
The view was spectacular and it was close to Grandfather Mountain and Linville Falls!
Thanks for a great family vacation!
Carrie and John Gray

Loved it , my daughter loved and we will be back!
Thank You for your great review! Come back often.
Very comfortable 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo with beautiful view of Grandfather and other mountains
This was the first vacation we've had in 3 years, so we really wanted to enjoy it! The condo was just what we were looking for. It was spacious, cozy, comfortable, well supplied and very clean, with plenty of room for my husband, myself and my mom. There was also a large balcony, with plenty of furniture, overlooking the mountains. We didn't expect a lot of fall color the last 2 week's of September, but there was quite a bit of color, by the time we left. We especially enjoyed the beautiful drive up and down the mountain ( have patience- its long and windey), whenever we went anywhere. Lots of colorful trees, by the time we left.
The reason we did not give 5 stars is because of 3 days of very loud construction that we had to deal with in the unit above us and the very dated appliances in the kitchen. They are from the 90's or possibly before. The burners on the stove are very uneven and the microwave should really be replaced, for safety sake, if not for its slow speed. However, the owners are responsive, if something is not working (kitchen and master bath faucets) and get things fixed, as fast as they can get folks to do it. All in all, a very nice, comfortable, affordable place to stay, with responsive owners and beauty all around. We plan to go back when we can.
Gorgeous views. Furniture outdated, but quaint/cabin feel. Great value for price.
We stayed here in July. Great location in between Linville falls and Grandfather mountain with plenty of hiking. Not a bad drive up the mountain. Grocery store and a few restaurants convenient. The view was amazing! King bed was a bit lumpy. They have plenty of blankets and pillows. Bring your own dishwashing detergent (dish soap is provided), laundry detergent, kitchen sink sponge. Overall, had a wonderful stay, would stay here again!
Skiing! Bring Snow Chains or a 4 wheel drive vehicle during the Winter
