About Sarah Hamilton and Ian Hamilton

Hi, my name is Sarah Hamilton. Our family recently purchased a cabin in Ellijay, Georgia, a beautiful town located in the North Georgia mountains. We as a family have been upgrading and cleaning the cabin to make it the best cabin around. Living only an hour and a half from the cabin really comes in handy for quick trips up both for work and pleasure.

Sarah Hamilton and Ian Hamilton purchased this lodge in 2010

Why Sarah Hamilton and Ian Hamilton chose North Georgia Mountains

Our cabin is located in the gated community of Coosawatte River Resort, this allows for a safe and enjoyable environment. Within the community are a vast array of amenities from pools to gyms to put-put, the resort really offers every amenity one could ever need. The cabin itself is located on a wide river with many beautiful rapids, which allows for fun kayaking, canoe and tube trips. Along with a beautiful river view, there are amazing mountain views!

What makes this lodge unique

This cabin has a multitude of unique benefits offered. They include: canoes and tubes, a basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard and horse shoe court, a seven person hot tub, three spacious bedrooms each with a full bath, two living rooms, a game room with Foosball, ping pong and pool, and high definition flat screen televisions.

We also supply Tubes, Kayaks and Canoes and life jackets for your use for your stay with us so you can enjoy the most out of our river! Many renter go and get put in up the river at one of the parks and float back down to our back yard! Or you can just hang and play right in the back yard!

Just what our family needed!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cozy cabin the first week of August! From start to finish the process was a breeze! Ian texted and talked with me anytime I had any questions. We decided to come a day earlier and Ian had it all ready for us since it was available, BIG thanks for that!!! We had two families with not a single concern the whole trip! The cabin is very spacious, clean, beautiful, and really everything we wanted in a mountain cabin vacation! The river was refreshing, we tubed down it, kayaked around in it, sat in it, sat around it, loved listening to it, and even played with the neighbor's dog in it, Lucy! She LOVES fetching sticks! My daughter is still missing Lucy, sobs when talking about her and the cabin, and plans to write Lucy a letter! We loved the hills, deer and beautiful homes in this gated community (that does not feel like a gated community at all). DEER EVERYWHERE! We saw 33 just in one trip to the store! Let me say that was a HUGE score with my little girl! You do not have to leave the cabin as all our kids were completely entertained but we did venture off a few times. We visited a local farm that had the best ice cream, cheese, crackers, and such sweet beautiful animals. They really made us feel so welcome there and we were treated with such kindness. Mountain Valley Farm! You could walk around and enjoy the animals and this wasn't something they charged for....say what??? We weren't use to that! haha! Oh and now that we have a love for deer we visited Build and Ark Animal Rescue and played with the baby's!!! We took a little trip to Dahlonega, GA (adorable little town) and had a GREAT experience at the Consolidated Gold Mine (took the tour, panned for gold & gems). On the way home we visited Amicalola Falls in Dawsonville, GA, wow beautiful!!! We also had lunch on top of the world at Amicalola Falls Lodge, WHAT......A....VIEW! Coming home to our beautiful cabin never got old! We definitely recommend Riverstone Lodge no doubt about it. We!!!

This place was even better than expected!!!!

We loved loved loved our family vacation this past week at Riverstone Lodge ....

Ian and his wife Sarah were so helpful from the time we made our reservation to answering a text when we were at their Lodge.

The beds were comfortable, we loved the Waffle maker, the kids really loved the waffles.. The river was low but still fun to explore and the kayaks, tubes, life jackets made it more fun. There were so many places to sit on all the decks and down by the river to just enjoy listening to the river and watching all the wildlife. We highly recommend Riverstone Lodge and many also enjoyed the game room!!! It was all Great. The only bad part was leaving

Our Second Time Staying Here

  • 4 of 5

The property is nice and in a great location on the river. We will possibly stay again in the future if we get the opportunity. If I have one complaint it is that the living room furniture is a little dated, but other than that we had a great week. Also make sure you follow the directions that are given to you by the owners DO NOT FOLLOW GPS!!!

Owner's Response: We are glad you came back a second time and enjoyed your stay with us! You mentioned that the living room furniture was a little dated but some of those couches were only two months old. So I assume you meant rustic motif since that is the atmosphere we try to give our guests. The wood cabin feel that you expect from a lodge on the river! Where you can get away from normal every day life and hang in the woods, on the river and chill out! Please come and stay with us again. Sincerely, Ian & Sarah

Awesome mountain getaway! Perfect home and location with something for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took our children and grandchildren to Riverstone Lodge for a family getaway. We can't say enough about how perfect this place is. We had 10 people in our group and had lots of space and then some. It is impossible to say what was best about the house. Everything was perfect. Three floors of living areas with couches, a nice sized bedroom, a large bathroom and deck on each floor. Each family had their own floor. Everything we needed was there - from kitchen equipment to play equipment. The owners have thought of everything. The large yard directly on the river was wonderful. There was a beach area for calm play and small rapids for more fun. I even caught a few nice brim while kayaking. Viewing the lightening bugs, deer and other wildlife from the deck was a definite highlight. After trying several different spots, our family has declared this our permanent vacation spot! We can't wait to return. The owners were an absolute pleasure to deal with and were very helpful in making our vacation a success.

Incredible Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Riverstone Lodge five days over the 2016 Memorial Day Weekend and hosted our family reunion on Saturday. Everyone had a blast. There was a vast amount of sitting areas for dining and socializing (2 dining tables, 2 picnic tables, and sitting areas on 3 deck levels, on the dock, and river side). Additionally, there was so much to do: pool table, ping pong, volleyball, badminton, horse shoes, board games, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, community game room, fishing, swimming (community pools and river), and a large whirlpool on the lower deck.

The large modern kitchen (waffle maker, coffee pot, dishes, pots & pans, etc.) and gas grill accommodated all our cooking needs. Beds were very comfortable. HD TVs were in every room with satellite TV and Netflix.

We had 8 people staying at the cabin and hosted a lot more on Saturday for the family reunion. There were three comfortable bedrooms, each with a nice bathroom, a great living room, large game room, 3 decks, and extra sitting areas, so we had lots of space. It also included a large laundry room with washer and dryer. It had central heat and air.

Our opinion is this place could easily sleep 20 - 22 people.

We had an incredible five days, and look forward to returning.

Family Spring Break Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Riverstone Lodge the first week of April, 2016. It's really hard to put into words how great this place is. This well appointed mountain home is located in Coosawattee River Resort. The resort has many amenities, but so does Riverstone Lodge. We had our grandchildren, ages 3 and 5, with us so we didn't take advantage of some of the wonderful amenities the cabin had to offer; such as canoeing, kayaking, tubing, basketball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, pool, ping pong, foosball. We enjoyed sitting by the fire pit a couple of evenings, watching the sunset and the hot tub was very relaxing. You can enjoy the million dollar view, and river sounds from any of the 3 decks. The bedrooms are very comfortable and plenty of sleeping options (bunkbeds, sofa beds, porch bed). It was a super, relaxing week! We ate in most of the time. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to throw together a good meal. We grilled out one evening, too. We went to Ellijay one afternoon and had lunch at Cantaberry Restaurant. It's a good soup, salad and sandwich place.

Ian and Sarah did a wonderful job providing good directions to the cabin, along with answering questions and just being very hospitable!!! We're hoping to fit another week in at this cabin or Rocky River when the temperatures are a little warmer. You can't go wrong renting this warm, inviting cabin with incredible views of the Coosawattee River!

Owner's Response: Penny, We are really glad you had a great time staying up there with us. Being on the river and having so many things to do was what drew us to this property! Please come back and try us in the summer where you can actually tube down the river. its always lots of fun! Thanks, Ian & Sarah
