Very nice, quant, cleaned. Enjoyed our time there
Only thing I would suggest is a few fragrance plug ins. Thanks again
Just like home.
I enjoyed our stay at the Hacienda very much. It was so relaxing and homey. Compared to a hotel room, you have your spaces, the back screened in porch was wonderful, roomy bedrooms, a fully furnished kitchen. Bruce and his wife were great and attentive to all of our needs. Recommend this house highly. The location was great. Would definitely stay there again.
Great place to spend time together
We rented the Hacienda for a small family get together and were delighted by the multiple places to spend time relaxing together. We particularly liked having the spacious screened in porch as well as the comfortable living room and dining room to enjoy each other's company. The house is charming and provided ample space for our almost two-year-old grandson to move around. So glad we didn't go for the adjoining hotel rooms we first considered. We also appreciated having a Publix within walking distance and access to public transportation to take us to and from the beach area. It was nice being able to forgo a car rental.
The actually property doesn't look like the picture posted on VRBO. The house is a lot older than the picture. New pictures need to be on VRBO. No grass, just mulch in the front yard. A lot of water damaged wood floors & broken blinds. No TV in one bedroom. The washer & dryer is in an old garage in the back of the house. The old wooden door is hard to open. The garage is dirty & mouse droppings were found. The ironing board is out there too. All of the rooms, especially bathroom, were a lot "brighter" on VRBO. Not walking distance to the beach. Arrived there after dark & we had to use the car lights to see around to the enclosed room on the back of the house. Good points - house was clean & furnishings were good. We wouldn't stay there again because for us it was too far from the beach. Cost of parking on the beach is too much.
Donna started texting her disappointment right after her arrival, and she explained that she was used to staying directly on the beach, instead of 2.5 miles away. I'm not sure why she booked our place, as we describe it as a 1925 historic home that has been renovated and updated, and it's clear that we are not directly on the beach. Our rates are also half of what you would pay for a hotel room at her previous location, and that's for a complete home, in a convenient location to all area attractions.
We also provide suggestions for finding free parking at Clearwater Beach, and I have to smile at her complaint about paying for parking, because the hotel she usually uses charges for parking.
Addressing the comments she included:
1. We will be updating the street view picture. Yes, we are eco-friendly and have eliminated the non-native St. Augustine grass in the front yard. It requires huge amounts of water, pesticide, and fertilizer, and we prefer xeroscaping with native Florida plants.
2. The refinished wood floors are almost 100 years old, and there are a few blemishes if you look for them.
3. There are 3 blinds with a broken slat, and are still functional. These are custom-made blinds that can't be replicated.
4. There was a small TV in the bedroom and we didn't replace it when it died. Instead, we upgraded the Internet service to high-speed 100Mbps and enhanced digital cable TV in the living room with 125 channels and DVR.
5. Laundry facilities are in the detached Carriage House garage. The tiny droppings she noticed were from the cute harmless little lizards that run around central Florida.
6. We added another motion-sensor light to the back deck, since she didn't tell us that she would be arriving at night instead of the 3 p.m. check-in. Usually we try to turn on lights if we know someone is arriving late.
Just Like Home!
Bruce, thank you for sharing your beautiful home, it was a pleasure and delight to stay in such a well maintained property. Cleanliness is important to me and I notice detail means something to you as well. You managed to decorate the property beautifully without taking away the character of the home. My son also enjoyed the internet access, can't be home without it. :), and it was nice to have the washer and dryer on the property too. Being close to downtown Dunedin and Clearwater Beach was a plus and I will definitely being recommending this home to my friends and family.
House is a house is a house
Usually we stay at fancy condos, but this time we chose a house for our vacation and what a joy it was. Privacy and peace. Driveway and yard. The earthiness and qualities only authentic historic house could give you.Don't forget that it is Beautifully furnished and decorated. Plenty of stores and beach just two miles away. Free parking a the beach is a given in clearwater beach. I am happy we made this choice.
Thank you, David, for your kind words! Glad you able to find free parking at the beach, as there are also parking lots, meters, and garage parking.depending on which section of beach you are visiting. - Bruce & Melody
