About Ron Sieg
This is a photo of my wife Theo, our daughter Stina, and Myself (Ron), and was taken in May of 1983, the same month and year we became the owners and caretakers of this cottage and property. My wife still looks the same, but I look more like the Velveteen Rabbit, with certainly more grey hair, a few missing buttons and some tears and stitches along the way, and that is just fine. Our daughter Stina, is now 33, and we have a son Toby, 29. We all agree, we can sell anything, except Mendocino. After 33 years, we still get excited to go. This is a very special town, a very special area, and a very special property. We have put our heart and soul into this. We not only love to share it, we feel a responsibility to share it. It can be yours for a few days, a few weeks and some do for a few months, and then you leave, and we will take care of it until you come back.

Fairy tale cottage in fairy tale village.
We had a memorable stay in the charming cottage with beautiful gardens in the peaceful village of Mendocino. Only short 2-3 block walks to the famous picturesque Headlands, restaurants and shops, yet set in the tranquility of Victoria homes is this historic village.
Charming, unique, comfortable and completely enjoyable!
Beatrix Potter Cottage in Mendocino
We loved staying in this sweet property and didn't want to leave. We enjoyed using the grill and eating on the patio. The two cottages have everything you need and the property is centrally located - great for wandering around town and along the coast. We'll come again.
Older cottage in the middle of Mendocino with tons of personality
We spent a great weekend at this cottage during the Mendocino Film Festival. It was across the street from one of the venues and in town, so the location really worked for us. We loved the hot tub (already heated on our arrival), the nicely landscaped and fenced yard which was good for our dog, and the character of the two buildings that make up this rental, including the architecture, furniture, and decor. It was very clean and comfortable too, with all necessary supplies and linens provided. However, be aware that the photos of this place don’t show the layout very well. Although there is a sleeping loft in the main building (with kitchen, dining room, living room), there is no bathroom which requires the person sleeping in the loft to go outside to the other building (private entrance to the bathroom) or use the outdoor toilet. Also, people staying in the main bedroom of the other building must walk through the smaller bedroom (which also has a small sleeping loft) to use the bathroom or walk outside to use the private entrance to the bathroom or the outdoor toilet. However, this was not a big issue at all for us after I called the owner and understood the set up. I would also be mindful that the cottage is set on a slight hill and parts of the walkway and garden areas are uneven. Although my husband and I are what one would consider seniors, we are active and had no problems, but I would advise people who are not steady on their feet or are not able to climb ladders into the sleeping lofts to be aware. As far as VRBO went, I received the final confirmation without the entry instructions and had to contact the owner, but it was easy and the owner was very responsive. Don’t stay here if you want a traditional boring hotel experience, but definitely stay here if you want an interesting experience in an old cottage with lots of character. Thanks for the stay, Ron and Theo!
This is my new favorite place to stay on Mendocino! A fantastic cottage with loads of space, comfortable furniture, especially the bed. And I really appreciated all the interesting little touches that made the whole place feel very homey. Having the unit split between two buildings was actually fun and would be a great advantage if you wanted peace and quiet time away from the kids. The garden is full of greenery and lovely plants and in general the outdoor space was perfect - extremely private, and peaceful. The hot tub was especially welcome. Can't wait to stay there again..
cottage by the sea
Great cozy stay. Well outfitted kitchen for cooking. everything was convenient and available for use.
One suggestion-- the listing did not make clear to me that the bathroom/beds, and dining space were in adjacent buildings. Had I not read a review I would not have realized this and thought I needed to use the outside outhouse for the bathroom! The instructional email should mention the living space is in BOTH buildings
