An exceptionally elegant, modern, designer's home in a tranquil & leafy residential pocket of West Hollywood West, which has been published in Sunset Magazine. Gallery white walls, tasteful contemporary furniture (think B&B Italia white sofas and Starck chairs) mixed with one-off, vintage 50/60'S pieces from Marco Zanuso to Florence Knoll, are punctuated with splashes of whimsical color (artwork to cushions) giving a sense of peace and verve as soon as you enter across the Droog 'Hare' door mat.
You will be stunned by the amount of natural light that enters across the easy-flowing floor plan through skylights and floor to ceilings windows. This is what Southern California is all about. Bamboo floors run throughout the interiors (which we like to keep as a shoe-free zone) while tropical plantings accent the very private back yard and the azure solar-heated swimming pool.
This house is a HOME rather than a rental and as perfect as a deluxe hideout for honeymooners or a writer on deadline as an urban gadabout family wanting to explore all the city has to offer. We are literally a pillow throw from Rodeo Drive, The Beverly Center, Fashionable Robertson Blvd Boutiques, Furniture Showrooms, Art Galleries in the design district of West Hollywood West with myriad sidewalk cafes (Urth, Pain Quotidien) to fabulous restaurants (Lucques, Cecconi's) within walking distance. Come and enjoy..... Please email me rather than call my cell phone as I am often traveling out of town or out of the country. Thank you. I will reply promptly.
Why the Owner Chose West Hollywood: If there is a center to Los Angeles, West Hollywood is it. Our home is within a pillow throw of beautiful shops, excellent restaurants, cool bars, art galleries, Beverly Hills. We love it.
The Unique Benefits at this House: The house is chic, tastefully furnished with modern and vintage 20th century pieces. It is in an excellent location, within walking distance of Beverly Hills' Rodeo Drive, The Beverly Center, Movie theaters, good restaurants, cafes and hip boutiques and design shops. The house is filled with light throughout the day. It has a modern design with an excellent open plan flow between one room and the next. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could wish for. The pool is solar heated which means it costs little to heat during the summer months but is too cold to use during the winter. It is extremely private. It's a perfect tranquil retreat and also a perfect place to entertain friends and clients. We can provide maid service and catering and concierge services.
I am a design writer, designer and yoga teacher.
I am from London and have lived in this home since 2001.
Owner purchased this house in 2001
This is a uniquely bright, open plan home where it is impossible to feel anything but happy. The quiet residential neighborhood is a pleasure but it's also steps from so many fun rests and cafes and cool shopping.
The house is so luminous that when the sun shines which as it's SCal, is most days, everything inside (including guests) sparkle.
My family and I were very lucky to come across this little gem! Everything is modern, clean, and absolutely perfect! I really loved the tasteful furniture, art, and décor. Location was super convenient and close to everything. This house is really private and quiet. I must say it was really nice after getting off a 11 hour long flight and move into a place that feels like home away from home! The pool and outside are have just been pimped. Simply perfect. We will defiantly stay here again.
Our family loved our month-long stay at this home. It’s the epitome of Southern California-style living – beautiful room flow, lots of natural light, lush and stylish landscaping, and a gorgeous warm pool. The décor is chic, clean and modern, yet comfortable. Everything (from the sofa to the linens to the barware) is tasteful and well-edited. The home provides privacy, is very secure and the neighborhood is quiet and residential. The location was perfect for us to access all the best of Los Angeles (Beverly Hills/Westwood/Santa Monica/Downtown/Silver Lake/Los Feliz.) It's the perfect rental in so many ways, and we look forward to returning soon! Thank you to Kathryn for offering such a beautiful home!
My daughter and I stayed at this beautiful Oasis for 2 weeks, and I truly felt at home here. This contemporary home sits 2 blocks from Melrose Ave., where the best boutiques, Salon Benjamin, and restaurants are, including Craigs! The property has been beautifully remodeled with bamboo flooring, fully equipped eat-in kitchen and glass sliding doors out to a beautiful pool and patio, with lots of space to entertain. The contemporary style furniture is sleek, yet comfortable as well. The open layout in the living area makes it easy to enjoy the Sonos entertainment system, through your iPhone. The home surpassed what I expected. It is very clean, well maintained, spacious and well arranged. I was very pleased with this rental and highly recommend it!! I will certainly rent again! Thank you Katy for letting us enjoy your beautiful home!!
We are a family of four. The house and the location was amazing. We felt like home. Top area and nice neighbors. Near to Beverly Hills and Hollywood, Universal Studios, Financial District etc. Easy to go to St. Monica, Venice Beach and Malibu. The house was our island when we came back from our tours in LA.
Relaxing on the terrace with a nice pool and absolut quiet even it is nearly in the city. Everything is green and we had a great time in this house. We can recommend it to our friends and people who are searching for a fantastic place in LA. Thank you very much for staying there !!!!
Absolutely a wonderful experience, house and location, it couldn't be better
We are 4 adults and stayed for a week
Katy made the rental/check-in process straight forward and easy
The house is lovely, full of light, it's simple with personality and good positive energy. You could stay all day in the house and enjoy every second, especially relaxing by the pool
The neighborhood is just beautiful, the location is perfect, 1 min walking distance to Beverly Blvd, Melrose Ave, Robertson Ave, Santa Monica Blvd and Doheny Dr where you'll find great cafes, bars, restaurants and grocery stores. Please don't even think to miss Joan's on Third, we couldn't find any food we didn't love it, we went many times in a week period. We enjoyed long walks around the neighborhood during the mornings and the area is just beautiful
Maybe we were lucky or it was the special week but it was quite easy for us to drive around without heavy traffic, we drove to Griffith, the Getty, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Hollywood, downtown, always using Santa Monica Blvd, Sunset or the 6th without hassles
I fully recommend this house, I would not hesitate to go back to the same location and house next time
We had a great time staying at the house during our last Los Angeles vacation. The house features windows and skylights, which let in plentiful natural light. And the pool is the perfect spot to relax after a long day of enjoying West Hollywood. Location was great – close to everywhere we wanted to go, but still quiet at night. We normally stay in a hotel when visiting LA, but we’ll definitely look to stay here on our future trips!
West Hollywood is a vibrant part of L.A. not only is it negotiable very easily by foot, it offers nightlife on sunset blvd, shopping on Robertson blvd, design stores and art galleries around Melrose and Robertson and is a pillow throw from Beverly Hills. There are many good restaurants and fabulous cafes in the area also. if there is a center to L.A. which is an arguable point, this is it!
Other Activities: Shopping, Health/Beauty Spa
