IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO HOST A RAGING PARTY, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE. THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOUSE. Social gatherings with friends and loved ones are very welcomed here, just not out of control loud drunken parties.
Whatcom Falls Park is the epicenter of the Pacific Northwest experience.
[copied from guest book]Erik –Thank you so much for letting us use your beautiful house! We all enjoyed the hot tub Saturday night. I hope you found everything in order after we left on Sunday. Thanks,Michelle
Fit our cycling group well. Having a trail right out the back door that lead to parks and Galbraith Mountain was a bonus. Very nice kitchen and kitchen ware for cooking. The spa was a nice extra as well.
We are a bunch of golf guys who stayed for a week in August, golfing every day and enjoying Whatcom Falls Retreat each evening. The house is very well laid out: great patio and hot tub, a dining room table that seats 12 (snugly) for the Roast Beast Feast, comfy beds and well-appointed bathrooms, great sound system and TV area, and a pretty good kitchen. The best part is the access to the park. A short trail from the backyard takes you to the waterfalls and diving hole, and let me say that Whatcom Falls Park is spectacular. It feels like something one would find in Costa Rica, or maybe a movie set. It's that good. Great way to transition from a hot day on the course to the cocktail hour and evening feast.
Our only complaints are quite minor. The kitchen needs a few things: a large pot for boiling corn or whatever, more saucepans, a colander, lettuce spinner, steak knives and wine glasses. But we are a fussier bunch than most when it comes to the kitchen, so for most groups it is probably fine. In any event, the kitchen is well laid out and very functional, and the gas range is superb.
Erik is very accessible if you need him, easily reached by text message or phone.
Few home rentals have this much space, and like I said, the proximity to the falls is pretty special. We are likely to return next year.
Erik's house was very nice and comfortable. Bedrooms and kitchen were especially nice. It is on a quiet street adjacent to Whatcom Falls Park. My wife and I walked about 3 miles on the trails of the park. It was very easy to get around Bellingham and Fairhaven from this location. We would definitely stay here again if staying in the Bellingham area.
The house is very comfortable and absolutely beautiful! Our experience was perfect!
Wow! It's hard to put into words what an unbelievable stay we had here. We rented the Whatcom Falls Retreat for our wedding reception and to host some out-of-town family. First of all, the house is absolutely STUNNING. Pictures don't do it justice. It's spacious and light and every detail is so well put together. Our favorite spaces were the living room and the sun room. Perfect places to entertain. The backyard is much bigger than it looks in pictures and feels totally private from surrounding neighbors. The hot tub on the deck was so fun for everyone, definitely a highlight. We also had close access to the Whatcom falls trail, which was perfect for our wedding day! We seriously can't praise this place enough, it was the most wonderful space to celebrate our wedding, and for our family to relax and feel cared for. Everyone loved it! We are SO truly grateful to Eric for sharing this magic space with us. It was absolutely perfect.
We rented this home to get together for a few nights with our 2 sons, their wives and 4 children. It worked out well, since there are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The house is well equipped, except there is no air conditioning and we happened to be there on a 90-degree weekend. But the backyard was ideal for the kids to play in...we brought an inflatable pool, and they had a great time. The yard backs up to one of the walking trails in the Whatcom Falls Park, which is a real gem. The falls are beautiful, the trails are wide for easy walking and the thick woods give you the impression that you're hiking in the wilderness. We printed off maps of the park and brought them with us, and were glad we did as we didn't find any in the house. There is also a small playground for young kids just a couple of minutes' walk away. And, a wonderful surprise was Whatcom Lake just a 5-minute ride away. It has a big playground, nice beach/grassy area and a swimming area. The house has lots of comfortable seating areas, a big dining table plus eating space on the deck. It's also a close drive to a supermarket, shopping center and movie theatre. I would recommend this house for a family or friends gathering.
Property backs up to Bellingham's most majestic park, Whatcom Falls Park, with miles of hiking trails, magical swimming holes and cliff jumping, and tennis courts--beautiful in all seasons. Less than ten minute drive to downtown, shopping, and entertainment. Very peaceful neighborhood, very private. Trail to world famous mountain biking playground, Galbraith Mountain, 100 feet from property! Less than one hour to Mt. Baker Ski Area.
