[copied from guest book]Erik –Thank you so much for letting us use your beautiful house! We all enjoyed the hot tub Saturday night. I hope you found everything in order after we left on Sunday. Thanks,Michelle
Reading previous reviews just about sum it all up. It's a great place with room for 7-10+ people super comfortably any season of the year. When booking, Erik was very responsive and friendly. There were no unexpected surprises, we had a lovely stay in this beautiful home!
We had a wonderful time visiting with family in this lovely, modern home. We really loved sitting in the sunroom, but also had room to spread out through the house. The kitchen was able to accommodate several of us at the same time as we prepared food for family meals at the spacious dining room table. The elder members of the family felt safe in two of the bedrooms and the bathroom on the main floor. The other two bathrooms were beautiful and we all loved the robes provided as a special treat. The listing accurately describes the property and the owner was very quick to answer emails with questions during the booking process. I would highly recommend this property!
We have stayed twice at this house for a small family reunion. It was both amazing times. The owners have stocked the house with everything including a baby gate and pack-in-play which was a life saver since we forgot ours. The kids loved the spacious backyard and the adults enjoyed the hot tub. This place is truly a retreat!
We loved our time at Whatcom Falls Retreat, and Erik was absolutely wonderful to work with. He was always extremely timely in his responses and never seemed to tire in his patience, despite my many questions before the stay! He was very accommodating, and we are extremely grateful! The house was absolutely beautiful, and the beds were *extremely* comfortable... We even looked at the type of feather topping because we want one for our own home! Our extended family stayed at the home while we celebrated our very small wedding the backyard. The space was great for family gathering and having bedrooms on 2 sides of the house helped with sleeping children! The hot-tub was awesome and we walked Whatcom trails several times everyday as it is just so accessible and beautiful. We daily used the kitchen and found it well stocked with kitchen supplies, spices, and basic cooking ingredients, which really helped! The house is in a quiet neighborhood but only a short drive from downtown. We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend this home. Erik, thank you for being such a wonderful host! It felt like home... but way better!
Fit our cycling group well. Having a trail right out the back door that lead to parks and Galbraith Mountain was a bonus. Very nice kitchen and kitchen ware for cooking. The spa was a nice extra as well.
We are a bunch of golf guys who stayed for a week in August, golfing every day and enjoying Whatcom Falls Retreat each evening. The house is very well laid out: great patio and hot tub, a dining room table that seats 12 (snugly) for the Roast Beast Feast, comfy beds and well-appointed bathrooms, great sound system and TV area, and a pretty good kitchen. The best part is the access to the park. A short trail from the backyard takes you to the waterfalls and diving hole, and let me say that Whatcom Falls Park is spectacular. It feels like something one would find in Costa Rica, or maybe a movie set. It's that good. Great way to transition from a hot day on the course to the cocktail hour and evening feast.
Our only complaints are quite minor. The kitchen needs a few things: a large pot for boiling corn or whatever, more saucepans, a colander, lettuce spinner, steak knives and wine glasses. But we are a fussier bunch than most when it comes to the kitchen, so for most groups it is probably fine. In any event, the kitchen is well laid out and very functional, and the gas range is superb.
Erik is very accessible if you need him, easily reached by text message or phone.
Few home rentals have this much space, and like I said, the proximity to the falls is pretty special. We are likely to return next year.
Property backs up to Bellingham's most majestic park, Whatcom Falls Park, with miles of hiking trails, magical swimming holes and cliff jumping, and tennis courts--beautiful in all seasons. Less than ten minute drive to downtown, shopping, and entertainment. Very peaceful neighborhood, very private. Trail to world famous mountain biking playground, Galbraith Mountain, 100 feet from property! Less than one hour to Mt. Baker Ski Area.
