Why Nancy Wellman chose New Mexico

We finished building our home in 1989. We have enjoyed our home and the nearby activities tremendously. It’s never ever boring! Dependable snow conditions and reknown skiing; unique tri-cultural area with beauty that truly enchants! No throngs = no lift lines. Trails to match all abilities; Super-great ski school for adults, teens, children; also kiddie/infant care. Delightful summer; great escape from the heat. Spectacular fall; brilliant foliage and great photo opportunities.

What makes this chalet unique

WINTER: Great snow conditions with frequent powder; Beautiful sunny blue skies; Starry starry nights! Deeply-discounted ski week lessons; torchlight ski parades Christmas, New Year’s Eves and Spring Break Saturday; acclaimed Wine Festival (Jan); awesome extreme ski competition (Mar); wonderful crowd-free family-friendly skiing & snowboarding.

SUMMER: Cool mountain temps with mid-70s highs. Wheeler Peak, NM's highest at 13,161 ft, visible from our street corner. Great hiking, mtn biking including Frazier Mountain Madness (July) with cyclists going directly up our street. Multiple Taos Mountain Music Festivals in summers.

Guestbook comments from the owner

NAncy, we left at 6am today. The place was awesome. We had so much fun. Sorry I didn't get to meet you. We left the front door open and keys on the table. Hopefully we will be back. Thanks

Cozy, clean, comfortable, well-equipped.

We had a great stay at the Wellman Chalet! The house is very clean, spacious, huge dining table - great for our evening meals together. The kitchen has everything we need. Bedrooms are good sized and have ample storage. There is plenty of space for our group of 7 adults to spread out. Location is nice. It is an easy walk down to the lifts. The walk back up took us a little longer - mostly because we are not accustomed to the altitude. We generally walked back to the house for lunch. We would definitely recommend Wellman Chalet and would stay here again.

Great for a group in TSV! Short walk, well appointed, great communication!

  • 5 of 5

Overall, we had a great time at Nancy's home. It was perfectly sized for our group of 11, had everything we needed for cooking meals in, and is a nice little walk to the slopes. Nancy answered a bunch of questions for us pre-trip, and was quick on the responses as well as deposit refund. We will definitely give you a call next time we come down to Taos. Thanks!

Loved it! Great attention to detail.

  • 5 of 5

This property isn't new and luxurious but excels at being cozy and sensibly outfitted with the essentials to provide a very comfortable stay at a reasonable price. It was very clean when we arrived. Details like a full spice rack and complementary bathroom soaps and shampoos were also greatly appreciated. The owner is responsive and deserves high marks for customer service. The location is great and the mountain is a blast! I hope to return again soon!!

Great place to stay, walking distance to base

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Wellman Cabin the last week of January 2016.

The place was clean and as described in the pictures and it had all the necessary for a nice stay.

The cabin is within walking distance to the rental shops and takes approximately 10 minutes walking, but you can always drive and park in the base parking lot (you will save about three minutes maybe).

We were very happy with our stay!

Great place to stay in TSV!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Wellman Cabin. The Cabin was clean and it is as described, it is within walking distance to the base area (takes approximately 8 minutes to get there walking) which is great. I would definitely recommend this place to stay at and will love to comeback!
