If you are coming to Cartagena to enjoy the Historic Centre and environs you will be delighted with this studio. It's quiet and exclusive and offers superb panoramic views over the city walls, the inner bay and ocean beyond. The old town is a 10 min walk and Getsemani about 5 mins. This area is safe to navigate on foot by night or day but you can always take a cab for less than US$ 3. The apartment measures 750 sq ft and has a big balcony with BBQ and outside dining. There is a large swimming pool, sun deck and jacuzzi on the roof top only one flight of stairs above. Furnishings are high quality and the kitchen is fully equipped with some useful extras such as juicer, toaster and clothes washer. The sofa quickly converts to a single bed to sleep a third person. DirecTV (164 ch), 4Mbps Wifi and Smart TV keeps you connected. The building has 24 hr security and a gymnasium on the ground floor. We have some excellent restaurants on the doorstep, including Club de Pesca but also several local eateries with more modest fare and prices.

This studio apartment owned by the hotel & offers the best of both worlds. The apartment is a large 12th floor studio (living room with sleeping alcove, full kitchen, washer, large bathroom, huge balcony) in a luxury doorman building in the adjacent neighborhood of Manga. The apartment provides great amenities (amazing views of the city & bay, rooftop infinity lap pool, gym, much more space than a standard hotel room) with the added convenience of hotel services (daily breakfast & happy hour at the hotel - we went about 1/2 of the time, plus concierge services).
The drawback is the distance: it's a 10 minute walk to the main gate of the old city & another 5-10 minutes to the hotel. For us, it turned out to be a nice surprise. We had a chance to explore the charming Getsemani neighborhood (which is technically still part of the old city I think), which is has many wonderful restaurants & not as aggressively touristy (or as expensive) as within the walled city. We had several dinners that were MUCH less expensive & way more enjoyable than our dinner at La Vitrola. Taxis are also plentiful & cheap (between 5,000 & 8,000) when we didn't feel like walking.
Service at the hotel was warm & accommodating. They even called us at the apartment to make sure that we didn't have additional questions. Would highly recommend. Photos are exactly as the apartment looks & it is well stocked (lots of linens, kitchenware, etc.).
This studio turned out perfectly for the three of us with very comfortable and attractive accommodation and a convenient location. We dismissed the idea of staying in Bocagrande as it is all high rise, crowded and a long walk from the old city. This apartment was just the right distance, allowing us to retreat from town when it got too hot and step out again at night. As commented by others the views really are something special. The hotel also called us on a couple of occasions to check our needs, we were fine but it was a nice touch. One piece of advice for renters- explore and use the local restaurants in Manga rather than always eating in the city and save trillions in cost!
