About Joseph M. Land, Sr.

I'm honored to have served my country - both in uniform and as a civilian - my entire adult life. My family lineage includes service during WWI, WWII, Vietnam and the Gulf War.

"Eagles Landing" is very special to me. My grandfather served in the 101st Airborne Division, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment ("Band of Brothers") during World War II. He lived his life with honor and service until his passing in October 2014. "Eagles Landing" is a testament to the legacy of the heroic men who fought on D-Day during their "Rendezvous with Destiny."

In my own service, I have traveled to 34 countries and 48 states in the name of my nation. Today, I'm honored to work in support of the Army Recruiting and Retention School, where recruiters are taught to help guide young men and women who are considering future military service.

Throughout my combined 30 years in uniform (active duty military and working with Cadets), I have had the personal privilege of visiting some of the most remarkable locations throughout the world. I am an extremely patriotic man, firmly believing that while our country may have issues at times, this is still the only place on Earth I would want to call home.

In turn, I look forward to having you visit central Kentucky and experience the true warmth and comfort that comes with rural America. I’m sure you will find Bourbon County to be receptive and comfortable. As you visit our small town, do not hesitate to ask for recommendations regarding dinner, local sites or special events in our area.

Why Joseph M. Land, Sr. chose Kentucky

There are very few places in our country as true blue American as central Kentucky. Folks here work hard, take care of their families, wave at neighbors and lend a hand when needed.

Kentucky is also well connected to our nation's defense. With Fort Campbell and Fort Knox, as well as Bluegrass Station and countless National Guard and reserve units, there is a strong legacy of service among Kentuckians.

What makes this apartment unique

"Eagles Landing" is dedicated to the heroic men of the 101st Airborne Division who fought and sacrificed during World War II, as well as all who have served since, and have taken the oath to " the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic..."

My grandfather - former Master Sergeant Joseph W. Crawford - was a radio operator in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Baker Company, of the 101st Airborne. By the time he was 23 years old, he had fought for his country, earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, and was taken captive as a Prisoner of War.

Upon arriving at "Eagles Landing, " you will feel like you have gone back in time, with the display of awards, photos and historic artifacts from World War II, including a one-of-a-kind coffee table made from a fully-equipped footlocker of that era. I'm sure you will enjoy your visit!

Guestbook comments from the manager

"Eagles Landing" truly is a special place. The three-room suite is beautifully decorated in tribute to veterans of World War II who fought go gallantly for our freedoms. I literally cried as I read the framed newspaper article about Master Sergeant Crawford - Joe Land's Grandfather - and his time as a Prisoner of War. While every detail is 'just right' with museum-like quality, and absolutely accurate to the era, yet the suite is comfortable and inviting. It's just a great place!"

We rented this house for four nights, because the price was right and the reviews were very good. From what I can gather, the owner used to live on the property but does not do so any longer, which I believe definitely made a difference in the quality of our stay. When booking a property, we receive a link to an app that is supposed to give information about our stay, but the only thing given in this case was the owner's phone number. Through numerous bookings on this website, we expect to have more information than that, such as check in and check out procedures, directions to the unit, etc. The day prior to our arrival, the owner informed us that there had been some problems with the tenants of the adjoining unit, but he felt they were resolved (at first he thought he would have to cancel our stay). Upon arrival to the house, we discovered that there was no thermostat to adjust the temperature. We were unable to access the upstairs (and the second bedroom) as the door had been bolted from the other side. The unit was described as having two queen beds. The bed in the bedroom we were able to use was definitely not a queen bed (full size at best) and uncomfortable and extremely squeaky with every turn, waking our daughter who had to sleep with us. There was no washer and dryer as advertised (perhaps upstairs?) which we always take note of when we book a place. Other reviews mentioned a dishwasher, but one was not present either. As we could not get into the second bedroom, two of our party had to sleep on the pull out bed in the living room, which had a bent frame and a pancake-thin mattress, and my son slept on the other part of the couch (fortunately three of our party of 6 were small children). We had to purchase additional pillows and blankets to use as we did not have access to more that I assume were in the upstairs. The bathroom had an automatic switch and a very bright light that would come on when you came into the room--extremely disconcerting in the middle of the night! A night light would be more appropriate. Although an oven was not listed in amenities, I would suggest this addition as most would expect one if a kitchen is available. Fortunately we were able to make do without one. Due to us not having the access to the upstairs portion we were supposed to have, the owner promised a refund, but as of 9/8 this has not been applied. We trust that Mr. Land will keep his word and rectify this issue as soon as possible.

Cozy, Classy and Comfortable...highly Recommended!

  • 5 of 5

"Eagles Landing" is an incredible location, fully of comfort and history. We were mesmerized by the historic WWII relics, awards and displays. The suite is a tremendous tribute to America's heroes, while still being a comfortable hide-away after exploring central Kentucky. Joe Land is a great host and a true patriot. We highly recommend this location!

Suited us to the ground!

  • 4 of 5

A delightful property, obviously holding much history that suited our need of 3 adults and 2 children.. It IS the comfiest coach in Kentucky and the decor is top notch. Gave it 4 stars only because we found the kitchen a little less supplied than we had hoped for a self catering unit. Owners are super friendly and super helpful. Lovely experience overall.

A coworker and myself enjoyed this house in Millersburg while on the road for the job. Separate bedrooms were good and a nice living area and kitchen to use. It is in a very scenic area which was a pleasure driving through! Its right on the main road and easy to access.
