About the property

Sherwood Forest Cottage

The Sherwood Forest Cottage

When you walk in the front door, you'll see sanded floors, wood car siding on the walls and exposed beams on the ceiling. There is a mini great room with dvd player and monitor that flows into the kitchen, plus a deck with a gas bbq. 1/2 bath downstairs with a washer and dryer too. Upstairs there are two medium sized bedrooms (the front BR has a queen and a deck with two adirondack chairs, the rear BR has a queen and a twin), plus a bathroom with a shower. Our cottage also available for intimate, group, or family getaways.

Air conditioned, Sleeps up to 5 people and is pet friendly (prior approval needed). Sorry, breakfast is not provided with the Cottage.

June-August cottage rents by the week from Saturday to Saturday.

Right next door to the cottage is Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast: Voted Number One in the State of Michigan by Lake Magazine and Number Two as Most romantic. This beautiful Victorian home offers inviting elegance in a wooded setting. Guest rooms are complete with antiques, cozy wing chairs, Oriental rugs and A/C. Three suites available: the 1st reproduces the serenity of the northwoods as a replica of the inside of a log cabin. It includes a stone-mantle gas fireplace, viewed from either the two-person Jacuzzi or the comfort of the bedroom. The 2nd suite features the same amenities but is decorated in the flair of the late 19th century. The 3rd Suite, our signature Safari Suite takes you on an epic South African Safari, decorated with authentic South African artwork, and sporting your own private deck in the woods. Another room boasts a hand-painted mural that transforms the room into a canopied tree loft, complemented by a gas fireplace. In the summer, swim in our heated pool adorned with dolphins riding the ocean waves, or walk 1/2 block to a Lake Michigan public beach to enjoy spectacular sunsets. In winter, X-country ski or hike along wooded paths. Separate cottage with fireplace also available.

Douglas and Saugatuck Michigan Area Info: Saugatuck and Douglas are harbor villages that celebrate diversity - small-town America at its best! Here visitors can turn back the pages of time to enjoy a simpler life where no one hurries and no one hurries you, a place where everyone is special and everyone is welcome. Just recently the National Trust for Historic Preservation selected Saugatuck/Douglas as one of the Dozen Distinctive Destinations in the United States and the writers and editors of Midwest Living Magazine ranked Saugatuck/Douglas fifth among the top 100 vacation destinations in the Midwest.

More Douglas and Saugatuck Michigan Area Info: While visiting either downtown area, you can walk - in a safe & friendly environment to almost everything. In Saugatuck, you can stroll along the boardwalk admiring the boats or explore the dockside shops. Picnic by the gazebo in Wicks Park overlooking the harbor. Ride a Victorian hand-cranked ferry. Rent a canoe, charter a sailboat or tour our waterways onboard an old-fashioned sternwheeler, dinner cruiser or WWII amphibious 'duck' vehicle. End your excursion at the corner drug store soda fountain where hand-creamed sodas & malted shakes have been a specialty for 84 years!

Just across the river, Douglas is home to the SS Keewatin, a Titanic-era steamship, now a museum. Take a self-guided tour of the elegant historical buildings that provide the 19th century charm, then indulge yourself in Douglas' downtown shopping area that has become a magnet for home accessory, antique & interior design enthusiasts. Douglas is also home to the area's first microbrewery next to an awesome antique mall.

Peaceful and Private

I spent a long weekend at the Lake in this delightful cottage, and was very impressed with its amenities, cleanliess, and comfort. The innkeepers are delightful, and the property is very pretty. Only a short walk down to the lake, and a longer walk into town. I completely recommend this property.

Sherwood Forest & The Ravines Golf Club

May 1 - October 6

Spend one or two nights at the weekend at Sherwood Forest B & B, and we'll arrange for you to play at The Ravines, an Arnold Palmer Signature Championship Golf Course, a sweeping, eighteen-stanza epic, where nature meets sport in ways you simply must witness to believe. Each hole at Ravines is, indeed, a unique stage all its own, inviting - even inspiring - in its natural confines with wide fairways, generous landing areas, and four tee positions per hole to let you play it safe. Once you experience Ravines for the first time, you'll be surprised by how this course's breathtaking backdrops and cunning golf architecture emboldens the true golfer in you. What a great way to enjoy a golf vacation in Michigan. Here's what you get with a one or two night stay (additional nights available at regular room price), a room at Sherwood Forest B & B, 18 holes of golf for two (with a cart) with a guaranteed tee time at The Ravines and some great dinner recommendations so you don't have to do the hit and miss thing. To book this package, call us..

Ski: In the winter you can cross country ski right outside our doors. Ski's available for rent downtown Saugatuck or you can bring your own.
