The location is ideal. Along a river bend, with mountain views, graceful trees, spectacular waterfall swimming pool/spa and much, much more. The challenge with this property will be leaving it!

more photos at:

At the entry way, and around the property, are enormous granite rock outcroppings. The home has accents inside and out of granite stones, a redwood paneled master bath, oak mantels, all harvested from the property. The polished concrete floors keep the home cool in the hot summer, and help maintain the warmth in the cold winter months. The ceilings are beamed and finished in pine. Located minutes from Yosemite, Bass Lake, and Oakhurst. Outside living areas include outdoor dining table and comfy chairs, lounges around the pool, and Adirondack chairs at the river. Cook outside on the outdoor grill or cook up a storm in the stainless steel kitchen. Appliances include Viking induction stove, Thermador convection ovens, and more. Sit under the granite rock waterfall in the built-in pool ledge, or jump off a 3' rock into the pool. Of course, you could swim a lap or float in the pool as you soak in the sun. Dip your toes in the river & watch the red-tail hawks glide between trees.

Hang-out in your chair until sunset & watch a deer, rabbit or possibly raccoon come to the river. After you’ve hiked Yosemite park, return home & soak your muscles in the ground level round jetted spa next to the swimming pool. Stroll to the end of the property, walk on the golf course, & shag a couple of lost golf balls on your way. Play a round of golf, or enjoy a sandwich at the rustic clubhouse, which is also adorned in granite & pine decor. Head on back to the river, grab a volleyball & couple of friends & hit the ball around the sandy beach volleyball court. Feel the cool sand between your toes. Maybe perch yourself on a granite rock & reflect on when Miwok Indians used the grinding stones to make meal, or give it a try yourself. Set up the croquet set & play a round with your mates. The river is more like a creek in August & September, so there is a lot more sandy area to explore.

Some say there’s gold in that river. So, try your luck at panning for some gold right out your door. Maybe a nice nugget for your jewelry box, or a couple flakes as a memento of your trip. Of course, we are not making any promises and do be careful of all the fools gold in the river! If the season's right, pick some fruit out of the trees, or berries. Cut a sprig of rosemary, an iris, rose, lavender, or wild-flower or two for the bud vase in the bathroom or kitchen. Before you head home, or on to your next destination, give the laundry room a work out and pack your bags with clean clothes. Of course, if you want to extend that vacation feeling, there is a local cleaner close by. If you have been able to resist the tire swing, take a spin or two before you leave. Maybe your last night could be spent sleeping in the hammock in the trees. Sign the guest book, and we’ll keep a light on for your next visit.

About Fred Lange

We have been visiting this area with our children, several times a year, for about 15 years. We enjoy the majesty of Yosemite, and have been Season's Pass holders at the Badger Pass Ski Area, located inside Yosemite Park, for many years. We have been fortunate to be able to explore the National Parks and natural beauty of the Western US and Canada over the years, but have always been drawn to Yosemite as our 'Home Base'.

During our many trips to this area, we have often sought out the Real Estate magazines and pondered ownership of a slice of paradise for our visits. In 2010, we finally took the plunge to buy, and envision many years of enjoying gatherings of family and friends at our home called 'Riverbend'.

We hope that our guests will also enjoy the peace, tranquility and beauty that beckons at Riverbend. It gives us great pleasure to share our home in this very special region.

Fred Lange purchased this house in 2010

Why Fred Lange chose Yosemite Area

On behalf of my entire family, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. You have truly thought of everything to insure your guests comfort and entertainment ... games, ping pong, fish in the river, the swing, playhouse ... the list is endless.

We had such a wonderful time and look forward to another visit in God's country!

Fantastic Property

  • 5 of 5

We had a Big Chill group of friends ranging in ages 58-73 for a total of 9 adults. I spent hours and hours trying to find the perfect spot for our Yosemite trip. The Ahwahnee Riverbend is absolutely wonderful. I could have stayed at the pool or on the river and never left the house. The bedroom configurations were very nice for a large group. Loved the kitchen and big indoor dining and outdoor dining tables. Fred and Lynn were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. We enjoyed the pool table and wifi...the air conditioning was a welcome respite in the wake of a heat wave....20 minutes to the south gate at Yosemite. Easy grocery access in Oakhurst. We spent our last night having dinner at Erna' Elderberry House in a private dining room. This is a must do while there if you are a foodie and enjoy good wine...we are already talking about going back to Riverbend...when you book please remember that the booking isn't guaranteed until all monies have been paid. Got our cleaning deposit back in a week...GREAT STAY!!!!!

Everything we dreamed of and more!!!

  • 5 of 5

11 family members from all over the country came to Riverbend for a week to explore the Yosemite sites and the local area. We ranged from age 23-80. This home was perfect and beyond our expectations! The pictures do not do it justice. The home is complete of every need from the kitchen to the activity closet and pool area. It was really difficult to get us out to explore because of the peacefulness and beauty we were surrounded by. There was plenty of parking for our 4 cars, truck and trailer and the ranch style floor plan made it easy access for our 80 year old Mother. All the beds were very comfy, house was very clean and we appreciated the large TVs for the Basketball playoffs. The pool and Jacuzzi were perfect after our days of hiking, mountain biking and off-roading in the local mountains. I think we enjoyed every activity Riverbend offered: volleyball, horseshoes, bocce ball, ping pong, pool, etc. Yosemite village is about an hour and a half away and well worth the drive. We were very lucky on our hike to half dome to catch the water falls at their max flow. There was nothing we wished for that was not supplied in the house. We only wish we could of stayed longer and are already planning to come back...hopefully for a longer time. Owners Fred and Lynne were very easy to work with when making our reservation and it was a comfort to know they were just a phone call away. Thank you Fred and Lynne for opening your home to us. It was a perfect vacation!

NOTE: The visitors center in Oakhurst was very friendly and informative but, if you are looking for mountain bike trails, go to the local bike shop (Yosemite Bike and Sport) on Hwy. 41. Also, there is a Farmer's Market at the True Value Center on Hwy. 49 every Thursday (4pm-7pm) that has awesome honey and vinegars. For gorgeous hikes around the HUGE sequoias, Nelder Grove is about 20-30 minutes away with 3 awesome short hikes.

Heaven On Earth

Thanks Fred & Lynn for opening your house up to our family. I don't know if I could if I owned it. If your looking for a beautiful, peaceful, and immaculate place to stay while your visiting Yosemite or just getting away, look no further. I assure you there is no other place like this in the area. Exceeded every expectation! Pool is wonderful, Jacuzzi is great, heats up super fast, river flowing out back, best tire swing a kid could ask for, couldn't get through all the activities that were provided in a week! My only problem was not having enough money in the bank to stay for a month. This is resort living at your own place, couldn't have been better! Thanks again and we'll be back!

Riverbend was absolutely perfect! The ranch style layout was so nice for our group. Although we loved the tire swing, the huge yard, BBQ, and Ping Pong, most of our time was spent at the beautiful pool. Staying at Riverbend was my most relaxing vacation yet! Our group hopes to return each summer. Fred & Lynn offered great places to visit in the area and thought of every little detail that we might have needed in the house. Thank you!!!

Riverbend is a Slice of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Riverbend is peaceful, beautiful, comfortable, relaxing, and simply perfect inside and out. It met our every need and want and exceeded our already high expectations. This is a home and property that is clearly loved and cared for. The property was absolutely beautiful and the proximity to the town of Oakhurst and the entrance to Yosemite made life very convenient. Each of the many gathering spots offered a little something different and engaged us all. The selection of games was outstanding and the incredible pool with its waterfall was a highlight for the 4 children as well as the 7 adults.

The measure of a good vacation is that you wish you were still there, and that's exactly how we feel. Though we never met the owners, we felt we knew them - they were the ultimate hosts, and extremely responsive to any questions we had. We give Riverbend the highest recommendation to anyone, and we would visit again in a second!

Car: necessary

Ahwahnee, Yosemite Area, Gold Country & High Sierra, California, USA -- Ideally located near Yosemite, one of the wonders of the planet that you must visit in your life-time. The home is minutes to Oakhurst, a small city with small town charm, but with many of the conveniences of a large city. You'll also find some great art, antiques and fun things to do there. With a river running through the property, this is a one-of-a-kind location. Yes, it's all about location, location, and location. This property also has a paved road all the way to the garage, which is often hard to find in the mountains around Yosemite. Within a couple of blocks from the home, you'll find an old school house that has been converted to an art school. Maybe there is some room in a class, or maybe you could drive about 10 minutes to pick up a cooking class at Chateau du Sureau.

Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, snowboarding, wildlife viewing, horseshoes, boating, cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, health/beauty spa

Golf: River Creek Golf Course at edge of the property.

Additional golf courses w/i a short drive!

Ski: Badger Pass Ski Resort

In Ahwahnee, CA, we are at 2,250 ft. elevation, so our weather is a little milder than Yosemite Park.
