The Carriage House on Main is your home away from home in Lexington, Ky. This antebellum home is just a block and a half from Rupp Arena and in easy walking distance to many of Lexington's finest restaurants and attractions. Comfortable, contemporary furnishings and modern amenities are set against a background of hand hewn timbers and mottled brick walls. A washer and dryer, along with stainless steel appliances, cookware and dishes make long-term stays very convenient. Two parking spaces await right outside your door. Just ten minutes from Keeneland Race Course and the Kentucky Horse Park.
Lexington Location: The Carriage House is very well located. Just one block from the historic Mary Todd Lincoln Home and two blocks from the Lexington Convention Center and Rupp Arena. The Lexington Opera House and Victorian Square shopping Center are a five minute walk away, as are numerous high end restaurants, antique shops, and the Kentucky Theater. A small convenience store is located just across the street from the property.
History: The Carriage House is likely one of the oldest remaining structures in Lexington. It is a federal Style home that appeared on a recorded map of Lexington as early as 1855. It first appeared as one of three similar, small homes, and the only one of those that remains today. The building has undergone numerous renovations over the years and is an interesting example of remodeling styles over the years.
Equine events: The Carriage House is just ten minutes from numerous equestrian facilities including Keeneland Race Course, Fasig Tipton Horse Sales, and The Kentucky Horse Park.

Jerry Deaton purchased this house in 2010
I purchased this property in 2010 and decided to turn it into a rental cottage due to its fantastic location, unique charm and historic qualities.
The house is right in the middle of everything that is Lexington. It is just a five minute walk to Rupp Arena and the Lexington Convention Center, many restaurants and shopping opportunities. It is just a 10 minute drive to both Keeneland and the Kentucky Horse Park.
My daughter played volleyball at UK and I sure wish I would have known about jerry and his beautiful little carriage house over the past 4 years! We stayed for UK graduation and it was perfect location for the ceremony at Rupp Arena! The combination of the original historic house and the modern updates are really nice! Jerry makes it feel like home away from home with all of the conveniences of home including washer and dryer! Transaction was very easy and communication was fantastic! Highly recommend!
In all honesty, this review is WAY overdue. My wife and I stayed at this charming carriage house last winter for a Kentucky basketball game ( I apologize as I don't remember the exact date, I just remember it was cold. Upon arrival, the carriage house was immaculate, very sizeable and the location was perfect. We did encounter one issue however; the water intake into the house had become frozen and was not able to push water into the house itself. Now I will say this, it was very COLD (it actually snowed 6" while we were there) and let's face it, the house was built in 1855 so it doesn't contain the same insulation that is contained in today's modern structure. My wife and I made a quick call to Jerry and decided to have some dinner at one of the local eateries knowing that Jerry was on his way. Within an hour, Jerry arrived to assess the problem and had the issue corrected within fifteen minutes. I have been to many a hotel and traveled the country staying in some of the best of hotels, but never during my travels did I have such an amazing and expedient resolution! From that point forward, there absolutely no issues whatsoever. Unfortunately, my wife came down with a cold the following morning and was under the weather. Fortunately, the carriage house is located very close to a convenience store and I was able to procure medicine by walking basically across the street. I was also able to walk a couple of blocks to obtain her daily request for Starbucks. Without question, it is in easy walking distance to the Mary Todd Lincoln House, Rupp Arena, Starbucks, the Big Blue Martini as well as a host of other fine establishments. Despite my wife becoming ill and the 6"s of snow, our trip was nothing short of fantastic. In summary, the house was amazing and had anything and everything we needed to survive the winter storm, the location is fantastic and had many amenities within walking distance, and check in/out was a breeze. Finally, Jerry was great to work with, absolutely the best. I can't recommend the carriage house on Main enough! I hope everyone enjoys it as much as me and my wife did.
We traveled with another couple for a Thursday night football game at UK. The house couldn't have a better location. It is a block from Rupp Arena and all of the other downtown attractions. Keeneland is a short drive away along with all of the Bourbon Trail. Jerry is very easy to work with and was very responsive. The house is very clean and well equipped. I would recommend to anyone looking for a Bluegrass weekend!
My daughter and I stayed in the Carriage House for a week while attending the Road To The Horse and it exceeded our expectations. The house was very clean and inviting, with an excellent assortment of informational brochures, and a great combination of modern and antique furniture and wonderful beds. It is within walking distance of downtown restaurants and the Lexington Center. The perfect place to come home to every night.
Thoroughly enjoyed stay at the Carriage House. Returned to Lexington for a visit having lived there for several years. Owner and brother in law who owns the business across the car park always helpful and responsive. Location is excellent for any thing in downtown Lexington. Parking spaces outside the door. Close enough to walk to restaurants. Beds were especially comfortable. Fabulous shower. Kitchen is well stocked. Having a washer and dryer was very helpful. Some traffic noise from Main Street but would anticipate that given the location. Downstairs was a little cooler than upstairs and a bit drafty but again you have to expect this in a house this age. Would happily stay here again!
My wife, newborn, and I were in the area for a family event and our expectations were exceeded with the stay in this wonderful property. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, starting with great expediency in helping with our booking due to our unusual circumstances.
The home is a delightful mix of history and restoration, and provided us with the perfect level of comfort, privacy, and space that we needed (especially with a newborn)!
The centralized location was great for allowing us to get out of the house and walk to anything we needed, or to just enjoy the bustling city.
The Carriage House is highly recommended, and simply offers many attributes of a home that just can not be found in a hotel.
