Greg & Barbara's place is great for any couple's getaway, but for hikers it's pure heaven. Set in the redwoods near the middle of the Dipsea stairs, it is located amidst some of the best hiking in the country. So much to choose from and so little time, we loved it all, especially the Steep Ravine hike. So beautiful and peaceful - much better than Muir Woods. The studio is oh so comfortable and immaculately clean. We felt at home as soon as Greg showed us in. We also appreciated the wealth of information about Mill Valley, dining, and, of course, hiking. We had a great organic pizza at Tony Tutto's Pizza. Yes, we will have to return for more great hiking, good food, and a beautiful, comfortable accomodation.
We came to Marin County from Houston, Texas to enjoy the outdoor splendor and temperate climate. We hiked every day for hours. It was not necessary to even get in the car on two of our days. We hiked from the DipSea stairs that start right around the corner from this home and went over Mount Tamalpais and into the Muir Woods. I cannot recommend it more to active travelers. I would note that handicapped or older people would find the stairs to the unit troubling, but they were just fine for us. Greg (the owner) gave us great counsel on which trails to take, and he was right every time.
Walking into Mill Valley from the unit (or the top of Mt Tam) is easy and fun. Getting into SF or up to Point Reyes were both easy too.
We only bought two meals during our week-long stay in Marin. This kitchen provided all that was needed to cook, and we obviously cooked a great deal.
The air smells like bay leaves and honeysuckle, and it feels like you are staying in an enchanted forest. Be prepared not to want to leave.
very clean unit. owners live upstairs, but are very helpful with hiking, restaurants and local things to do.
would definitely return.
This clean and comfortable apartment is tucked away in a beautiful redwood forest. The hosts were very accommodating, friendly and helpful - ready to answer any questions we had about the area and the town of Mill Valley. We loved the location and the steps which if you go down lead to the town and if you go up lead to very scenic and beautiful mountain views and some wonderful and amazing homes. Try to arrive while it is daylight, the roads leading to the address are rather narrow and our GPS didn't always work in the area.
Redwoods, hiking the Dipsea and mt. tam right out the door! Walk down the steps to the library, mill park, downtown, or just lounge around on the patio (loved the shower too)! Couldn't be any better, we've stayed at several vrbo's and this is our favorite! Our hosts were so helpful and friendly, anything that we needed it was there. Can't rave about this rental enough, will definitely be back again!
I recently spent three nights staying in this rental in Mill Valley and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who wants a GREAT location, super quiet space, incredibly clean, and sweet owners.
The bed was comfortable, I slept like a baby - and having the kitchen was a dream. A place to return again and again.
