Arte-Sano (Formerly Casa Los Angeles), an open beamed colonial/modern yet tropic villa, was designed so that you can enjoy the beauty of Nicaragua from every room. It sits on a bluff directly between two of the best beaches in San Juan Del Sur. From the Grand Sala you look directly out over the infinity pool on Marsella Beach and on down to Costa Rica. From the entry you have a view of the surf break at Maderas. Arte-Sano truly has one of the best views of the Southern Nicaragua coast line and is one of the few high-end villas that can be found north of San Juan Del Sur near the popular beaches. At Playa Marsella you can find a tranquil white sand beach perfect for swimming while at Playa Maderas you can surf one of the most consistent breaks in San Juan Del Sur.
We have recently converted the villa into a BNB/Boutique Hotel Arte-Sano Hotel Cafe and are gearing the rentals/pricing to individual rooms.
The Villa has a full kitchen with concrete countertops and a wood in-laid bar top. Accordion doors open up to the patio which allows you to feel like your outside when your are sitting in the Sala. All 4 bedrooms have air conditioners, hot water, and hardwood floors which are rarely found in Nicaragua. All bedrooms come with king beds, ocean views, and their own bathrooms. Villa has daily maid service and full operating commercial kitchen that offers breakfast, lunch and full bar.
Entire villa can be reserved or rooms can be rented individually.

We created Arte-Sano in an attempt to bring a touch of modernity to a more classic architecture in order to create the feeling of being deep in Central America with all the amenities of modern day life.
You really feel like you are out in the nature of Nicaragua while only being a ten minute drive to San Juan where there are restaurants, bars, and nightlife.
The house was beautiful and the layout was great for our family with four couples. Each couple had their own private bedroom and bathroom (with air conditioning). The kitchen, dining and living room easily accommodated our entire family. We also really enjoyed the pool - especially when we returned from exploring the area. There were plenty of towels available for use by the pool or to take with you to the beach. The linens and towels in the bathrooms were all high quality. The beds were comfortable and Ibania kept the house clean and was very helpful. We also appreciated access to the computer and wi-fi in the house.
The negatives: the house is quite a ways from San Juan del Sur - down a dirt road (which was in good condition when we were there but would be a challenge during the rainy season). You really need a vehicle when you stay there. And if you like to party in town, you will need a designated driver to navigate the roads. There are a couple of restaurants that are within walking distance (if you like a good hike). The beaches are not easily accessed by foot - again you really need a vehicle. The kitchen was not well equipped for cooking. There were plenty of dishes and silverware but there wasn't a good assortment of pans, bowls, measuring cups, strainers, pitchers, etc. And if you want to cook, be sure and bring your own sharp knife!
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Los Angeles and enjoyed exploring the town and area around San Juan del Sur.
My family and I rented the Maderas/Marsella Beach House over Christmas this past year. We had a wonderful time and we loved hanging out at the beaches nearby. The house had an amazing view and was well kept up. Just a few tips:
First: definitely rent a four wheel drive car/truck to get to the house. The roads are bumpy and a car is necessary to drive back and forth to san juan as well as some of the other amazing beaches.
Second: The kitchen wasn't as well stocked if you want to do a lot of cooking there. There wasn't a teapot, tupperware containers, etc...So be prepared to bring some stuff like paper towels and make due with what is available.
Third: The housekeeper was very sweet but always around when we were there and cleaning when we were there so just be aware of that.
Fourth: There is some construction going on right outside of the house, building another house, so it can be a little noisy early in the morning and it might block the view to one of the beaches in the future.
Wonderful! Had a great time! Would recommend it to others!!!
Our family of 3 just returned from our first adventure to Nicaragua. We found the house to be in a perfect location for enjoying all that SJDS has to offer, while spending most of our time at the northern beaches. Danny and Maria are wonderful, and helpful with any needs you may have. Danny helped us locate additional surf beaches, and our 4 year old daughter fell in love with Maria!
We recently spent 4 (and I wish is had been more) nights at Casa Los Angeles and it was a great experience. The owner is very easy going and easy to deal with via email. The photos don't truly do the place justice. The views are spectacular and the home was very nice. The people who take care of the house could not be nicer or more helpful. The beaches close to the house are great. Our favorite was to go down to Playa Maderas (quick walk) and then go all the way to the right to Playa Majugual. You won't be sorry if you rent this house!
The pictures do not do this property justice. The views are absolutely amazing, the pool refreshing and the home gorgeous. The winds blowing allow for you to not even need the a/c even though it was available in all the rooms. We had 7 people and plenty of room. The beaches are a nice walk down the road and are spectacular. The boys, 11, 18, 26, 27 and 50 all practiced surfing and great boogie boarding. Also nice with 3 restaurants there with pizza, tacos etc... Can rent boogie boards right there for $5 a day and even get surf lessons! Josh is a great host and stopped by a few times to check in, but Maria took care of all of our needs, she cooked a delicious dinner every night and even went to grocery with me. They will help you with anything you need. It is the perfect vacation home with all the amenities.
We spent 2 weeks at this lovely villa which reminded me in both structure and scenery of Tuscany. It was restful, secluded, and extravagant. The views were outstanding. I could sit in the pool for hours and overlook the ocean. Danny and Maria felt like family after the first few days. Josh the owner dropped in and was a delight to talk to. I will definitely be coming back for a return visit. I miss it more now that I am back home. Don't hesitate one moment if you are considering this house for a vacation.
Villa is located on the point directly above Playa Maderas & Playa Marsella. Perfect for being at the beaches that you came to Nicaragua to be at.
