We purchased this property in 1996 after many years of vacations in various locations in the Outer Banks. We live in Virginia Beach. Gary is a Moes Southwest Grill franchisee and Sandy is a Occupational therapist assistant. We use the home in the off season and are constantly making upgrades to keep the house current and fresh. We enjoy the house, neighborhood and beach just like we are vacationing with our family! We have tried to make it comfortable and supplied with all the items we use when we are home, so we can cook or play without running out to purchase items!
Sandy or Gary Weaver purchased this house in 1996
Great Beach with good waves for the kids to surf as well as we loved the natural areas in this neighborhood. This house was comfortable, sturdy and roomy for all of us, plus friends to enjoy good times year after year. we are the last house on our road, with no traffic out front which is great place for kids to play. We love that our roads are not paved, so it gives us that 'old time' feeling when the outer banks was first discovered!
We use this house as our vacation home, so we feel we have made it as we would want to find a vacation home. We upgraded the main kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and larger, roomy cabinets. We keep plenty of extras in the kitchen, plenty of dishes, bowls and appliances, as well as TV's in each bedroom, adding a large, flat-screen TV in the Living room and free long distance phone and Free WIFI as it seems everyone travels with their computers these days! There are lots of puzzles and games for old fashion family fun also. An newly added first floor offers a 'mini-kitchen'' with a refrigerator, microwave, sink, toaster oven, coffee maker and cabinets. 2 new bedrooms with a family room with large screen TV as well as a new full bathroom with a walk in shower. The new outdoor shower right outside the first floor door adds a refreshing way to clean up after a day on the beach! The second floor deck offers an old fashioned porch swing to enjoy the views and breezes. The 3rd floor deck has a picnic table to enjoy meals outside! The views of the ocean are amazing! The widows walk top deck has the most visibility for the ocean to the east and the sound to the west, with sun rises and sun sets only steps away! There is also a fish cleaning station to take care of all those fish you want to prepare for dinner at night!
Our family of 12 (including grandparents, children and grandchildren) has vacationed at the Weaver's house for 6 years. We look forward to our Duck vacation and making memories every summer. The house is hidden on a quiet court giving you a sense of privacy. It has plenty of parking and a big yard. With bedrooms on 3 levels there is a sense of privacy, even with 12 people in the house. The house is very well furnished (including 2 refrigerators), clean, and accommodating. In this natural community, don't be surprised to see a doe and her fawn(s) in the yard, or a turtle in the road. It's a very short walk to the beach, which is convenient whether you're headed there for sunbathing, fishing, kite flying, walking on the beach, or just sitting in a chair, watching and listening to the waves while the sun sets. The beach sand is very fine and is great for walking barefoot or making sand castles. Sitting on the deck drinking coffee in the morning while watching the ocean is a peaceful way to start the day. Star gazing at night on the roof top deck is a favorite of all. The Weaver's USA flag, which is lit at night, leaves you with a sense of pride, patriotism and appreciation to be able to vacation on the Atlantic Ocean and the family friendly Town of Duck. Needless to say, we love the Weaver's house and Duck, NC.
The Weaver's house was perfect for our family vacation, which included 12 people; 3 adult siblings and their wives, plus teenage/adult kids. The proximity to the beach was wonderful, since we could pop back and forth to the house for lunch or bathroom breaks. The house is nicely appointed, with great appliances and cookware, plus the extra 'fridge on the 1st floor! Everyone was really comfortable with the roomy accommodations - we will definitely be back for another visit!
We just returned from a wonderful week at the Weaver's home. Clean, great accommodations, wonderful view and easy access to the beach. We were so pleased with our choice and look forward to choosing this home next year!
We had a fantastic stay at the Weavers beach house! This house is even better in person and provided plenty of room for our group of extended family. We had several ages covered in our group, from a 10 month old to a 70 year old (with kids and a teenager in the mix as well) and everyone had a great time. The beach is so close and the view is amazing. It was an easy walk to and from the beach. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the set up was great for a large group. We had to do a little quick baby proofing when we arrived, but thats to be expected anywhere we travel with a busy crawling baby. We had brought our own baby gates and they had baby gates there as well. Our dog felt right at home as well and it was great being able to bring him along! Thanks for everything, we will be back.
My wife, our 2 dogs, and a small army of friends and family descended on this lovely house for a week of R&R in the middle of August. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. Gary and Sandy have added a private and well appointed bottom level while also expanding the paved basketball court, adding a gas grill, adding an awesome outdoor shower, and raising the entire house a number of feet. The house is located at the end of a short road and the privacy is further enhanced by the natural fence created by the foliage surrounding the house. The walk to the never crowded beach is all of 4 minutes and the town of Duck is also very close. We can't wait until next year.
Thank you, Gary and Sandy, for sharing your OBX home. We enjoyed a week with our adult children and the 3 grands. A perfect setting for our week of reconnecting . Time on the beach, evenings having dinner on the deck with views of the ocean. Relaxing for all of us. You have helped start a new tradition. Your house was perfect for us to enjoy the time together. Well maintained, we just brought our suitcases . Looking forward to next year.
We are located 1.4 miles past the Duck Fire Station and the Army Corp of Engineer Research Pier. When traveling north on Rt.12, once you reach the Duck Fire Station, go 1.4 miles then turn right onto Sound Sea Road. Maple Drive is the 4th street on the right. Our house is the last house on the right.
