Hello! We are an internationally mixed family who have been living in Montezuma for the past 14 years. Our daughters were born here in Costa Rica! We are open to sharing our home with people who will respect the space and treat the house as how they would treat their own. We look forward to welcoming you to our jungle abode!
This property is only a 5 minute drive to the town and beaches of Montezuma, and only an 8 minute drive to Cobano where you can do banking and shopping.
This is a fantastic and beautiful home. It is easy to live in it. it is simply, and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is fully stocked. We spent lots of time on the deck, in the pool and on the yoga platform. Kris and Rico were so helpful in every way. We strongly recommend this home.
The pictures don't lie. Upon arrival, Kristine was there to greet us, go over the house and answer any questions we had. The house had everything you need, including a water fountain that Kristine was happy to refill after we went through 2- 5 gallon bottles. In the closet there was a cooler that got used every day. The AC's kept us cool at night and we all slept well in the comfortable beds. There was 6 of us in total and we had plenty of space. The pool was beautiful and well maintained. It was the perfect remedy to cool off once we got back after out exploring. We heard howler monkeys, saw lizards, and many birds right in the backyard. We always felt very safe. Montezuma itself is a place like I've never been. It's a cozy, surfer, hippy town that has the best food I've ever had. Our favorite was El Balcón Del Mar. It has a little 'BBQ' sign out front and just next to the enterance by the beach where the buses do pick ups. They even cooked up a tuna our son caught for us and we only paid for the sides and gave the rest of the fish to Carlos. I highly recommend Zuma for any adventures you go on. Tortuga Island was a favorite amoungst the 6 of us. Zip lining was a blast too. We drove over to Playa Santa Teresa beach for surf lessons with Jobbie through his surf store and we felt like pros by the end of our 1.5 hour lesson ($55 each). Every person and local we met was friendly and helpful. Armando who is always around became a friend. If you cross paths with him he has a lot of knowledge about the area and its wildlife. My husband and son went fishing with him and he even met us when we went for a hiking to find the waterfalls. That is a must.
Place was hands down amazing ! Modern perfect for couples we saw monkies right by the pool, With the large glass wall you feel like you are right in the jungle :) just up the hill from town def rent a car or rv and you are set ! The design of the house was superb and Kristine was very helpful :)
This is a unique house, very spacious, light and airy situated on a hill top outside Montezuma. The house is very well equipped with everything you could need, though a microwave would be a good addition. Maid service was good and the owner responded quickly to any queries etc. This is not an ideal property for a family with small children as it is right on the edge of the jungle and has an open staircase but for adults it is wonderful. You can laze in the pool and watch the wildlife - we saw monkeys, coatis, iguanas, even a toucan. Montezuma is close and it has some good restaurants and shops and lots of excursions available. Great place for a quiet , relaxing vacation if that is what you need but plenty of good food and entertainment nearby. You definitely need a car to stay here.
What a wonderful place to stay. It was a marriage of indoor luxury and nature. The sliding glass door enabled us to see racoons, spider monkeys, iguana, toucans and lizards right outside the back door. We enjoyed waking up to howler monkeys and many song birds in the jungle behind the house. It was very comfortable for us and our two grown sons who each had their own room and space. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking our fresh seafood feast. Had the outdoor grill worked it would have been even better. Casa Maya is conveniently close to Montezuma and the beach. We also enjoyed eating at the restaurant Cocolores near the beach that the owner recommended. I sent links of Casa Maya's website to my envious friends and recommended they visit too. Casa Maya met all our expectations and more.
The home was wonderful. Clean, well designed and the downstairs suite is completely separate from the upstairs which makes it all the better for privacy. Kristine and Rico are very responsive if anything is needed. Close to Montezuma, which is quaint and with many great restaurants.
The best part is the private white face monkey show every evening around 4 and 5 while enjoying your cocktails.
The house says it can sleep 6-8, but I would say 7 max and that is if you go 3 in one room. It is really perfect for 5 or 6 in that there is little comfortable seating in the home, but given the design details it was perfect for my group
