Best time of the year

  • 5 of 5

This is always the best time of the year for my family and I. This year was no different, had a great time in the snow with the kids. First day we arrived there was a fire already lit for use. Awesome! Cabin was very clean, except the inside of the over was a little dirty (burnt pizza). We turned the self cleaning on and in a few hour it look great. This is the 3rd time my family and I have stayed here and I can't wait for the next time. AWESOME TIME!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and glad you had a good time! Sorry about the oven. I do admit that it is a point avoidance with me, as I do not like the chemicals (for medical reasons) and I know someone who lost their home to a house fire started by a self-cleaning oven. So, I clean it only when I feel it is definitely beyond acceptable, which may be a bit more lenient than the perception of others allows. Perhaps I should make a point of enlisting a second opinion, so I appreciate your feedback.

Lovely cabin and area

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was so fun and family friendly. The kitchen was well stocked. One thing, the oven never got up to temperature-don't know what was going on with that as it never would get higher than 220 degrees. We worked around it. Loved the deck, the view and the good vibe of this cabin.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Good to know that cabin has a "good vibe"! Yes, the heating element in the main/large oven went out and it took us a bit of time to be made aware of the problem (because we don't typically turn on the oven when we are there servicing) and to secure a replacement part. The smaller side oven seemed to suffice for most of the guests affected during that time. Everything is now working. We are also adjusting the size of the oven racks because the sides of the oven seem to have gotten bowed out (not sure how), which made the racks sit a bit loosely and we think they may have tended to fall, which took out the heating element. Thank you for your understanding during our repairs. Hope you can come again!

Yearly family get together.

  • 1 of 5

We enjoyed the stay,. It does not seem like the cabin has been kept up as in previous years. The oven did not work. After 2 hours it only got up to 185 degrees. We had several meals we needed the oven for to feed the family. The main bathroom was not cleaned properly. There were so many cobwebs around the floorboards and above the doors. I cleaned them first thing when I went in there. The kitchen faucet was leaking, my son tightened some of the washers and it helped . One of the rails on the balcony was loose and looked like it was broken. The hot tub had a film in it and smelled. Looks like it not been cleaned in awhile. The fire pit needs checked also. We looked forward to coming as in previous years. We were a little disappointed in our stay. The family is not sure if we want to plan another stay .

Owner's Response: Very sorry to hear that this stay was not up to your expectations. We did have to replace the heating element in the main oven, and this is fixed now. The side oven was working while the main one was out, and the people who alerted us to the problem told us that the side one sufficed. I clean the cabin myself, so am a bit baffled about the cobwebs in the downstairs bathroom, as I just cleaned these and I typically get the ones around the floor when I scrub the floor. But, perhaps I missed some. You were the first person to tell us that the faucet leaked, and we did check this out after you left. So, thank you for the heads-up. None of the rails on the balcony are broken, but the gate the opens to shovel off the snow had gotten a bit loose at the lock. This has been replaced. I also service the hot tub myself and it was clean for your arrival, with all chemicals at required levels. But, I recently noticed that the cover had developed a mildew smell, which happens periodically, so I cleaned that. The fire pit is not something that we installed nor maintain. Previous guests set that up and it has stayed. Hope this addresses some of your concerns, and sorry again.

We enjoyed our stay in Pinecrest.

Bring coffee! The cabin is great for getting a larger group together.

Owner's Response: Great, Thank you! Yes, the cabin sleeps up to 8 people so is setup to allow this many to get together. Although, the hot tub will not hold 8 people at once (probably comfortably only 4).

Winter way was wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

A lovely time was had by all. It was very quiet and private during our stay. Loved the porch with the view of the stream and all the trees. The hot tub was great too. We really appreciated the high quality appliances and furniture. It was so nice that wood was provided for the fire. The VHS selection was a little odd but we enjoyed it a great deal nonetheless! Would come again.

Owner's Response: Ha! Yes, the VHS selection is a bit odd. It started with several donated westerns, was significantly supplemented by donated children's movies, and has been changed somewhat by various trade-ins and trade-outs over time. Perhaps it is eclectic? Glad you had a good time!

Absolutely peaceful!!! Cute, cozy and an overall happy experience!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a very peaceful location surrounded by peace and silence except for the sound of the nearby river. It was equipped with everything we needed for an enjoyable stress free stay. I cannot say enough about the location other than it was perfect. The owners made sure everything was in place and we were left to are own serenity.

Two very very very minor complaints. The beds were a little uncomfortable. Also, the hot tub started out nice and warm but when we went to use it the next day it was down to 92 degrees. We were kind of bummed as it would have been perfect after a hard day of hiking. A suggestion would be to have instruction about how to get it working properly. I won't let those 2 small things detract from an otherwise wonderful experience. The owners deserve a great big thanks!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your detailed review. So glad you enjoyed your stay. And thank you for feedback on minor concerns. Although we have recently received reviews noting the positive comfortability of the beds, I have also noticed a pronounced dip in one of the mattresses. This is slated for replacement and just a matter of obtaining and installing a new one. The hot tub can be tricky because alternate pushing of the light and jets buttons sends it into sleep mode; it does not heat during sleep mode and it seems to be quite common that we find it has been accidentally changed to this setting. For this reason, we have a laminated instruction sheet handy on the shelf next to the tub and I will check to make certain that it is still there. Hope we will see you again!
