About Rachel and Wes
My wife and I live in Atlanta. We love spending time in the North Georgia mountains, and we love our cabin and can't wait to share it with others.
Rachel and Wes purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Rachel and Wes chose Owl Town Retreat
We wanted a property close to Atlanta, with a great view, and preferably new construction - this property provided all three, plus it sits on 1.5 acres in a secluded gated community.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our cabin combines a secluded setting with close proximity to shopping, restaurants and other conveniences. Featuring an 8-foot pool table, foosball, hot tub, DirecTV, wifi, and lots of books and board games, the cabin provides something for everyone.
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
Third stay, won't be the last
Thanks for having us again. We always love it.
Owl Town Retreat
This is a great place in the mountains with plenty of privacy and long range views. We had a party of 10 and there was plenty of room. This home will not disappoint.
Would not recommend. Needs TLC. Read before renting.
Family vacation 6 adults, 6 children
I have rented a number of cabins in the Chattanooga/Gatlinburg/North Atlanta area and this was the worst I have been to. The pictures are lovely and the cabin is quite nice, but once you begin your stay the problems start piling up. To list:
-The water was not working properly.
Either a pipe leak occured or a pump had gone out BEFORE we arrived and we were not informed of this prior to our arrival. This was a major issue during our stay. To the owner's credit, he did refund some of the money (which is the reason for a 2* rating).
-The trash cans were full before we arrived and we had no place to put our garbage for the duration of our vacation.
- Only 1/3 burners on the grill worked
- 4 of the players on the foosball table were missing/broken meaning you cannot play the game. The kids were upset by this.
- The hot tub was not working properly and we had to consult the users manual to unlock the keypad on the hot tub. It still would not heat and we found a tripped breaker that was causing the problems. No hot tub for the first day/night
- The kitchen did not have a simple cookie sheet.
- One set of lights in the living room never worked. The switch did nothing.
While the water issue was going on, I received no response to my initial issues within 24 hours from the owner. The property manager and I texted/called numerous times but this was out of his hands. I was not impressed by the owner's passive nature towards this problem. When we agreed on a refund it took numerous calls/texts to get this resolved as well.
As I said, the cabin looks lovely but needs lots of work. We reviewed the guest book on the coffee table and found a number of similar problems over the years. There were not many positive reviews. Pages had even been torn out of the guest book...
I would not recommend this cabin and I will not be staying here again.
The overall experience was amazing!
Cabin in Ellijay
Cabin was great for our large family vacation. Great location. We had 2 issues and both were taken care of pretty quickly. Would definitely rent again!
Beautiful home, great accommodations, cleaning needs some help
This house was wonderful and perfect for our family trip, although it really looked as though it had not been cleaned for some time. Mainly the bathrooms, but the whole house was really dusty. The window above the stairs had a 1 inch opening and without a ladder, we could not close, but much of the air conditioning was getting out. The window units in the upstairs bedrooms made it very nice. Mattresses were very comfortable. Half bath sink in downstairs had not been cleaned at all or the floor mat there.
