We are in an excellent 'base place' location to explore all the summer 'up north' activities northwestern Michigan has to offer.
This retreat cabin is the perfect place to rest and relax. See and do as much or as little as you like. There are many activities and special events throughout the summer, or just kick back on one of the beaches nearby or hang out on the hammock with a book.
Steps away from one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, both cabins are embraced by a wide mix of mature older trees, and gardens. There are wildflowers, extensive perennial gardens, and an organic vegetable garden also on site that attract many songbirds and hummingbirds filling your senses with the sights and sounds of nature.
The cabin is a fully equipped efficiency unit with all of the comforts of home; furnished 'rustic woodsy, natural, eclectic home style'.
"Thank You! We had such a special and wonderful vacation at your cabin! We love it here!
We packed in so many activities during our stay; hiking, swimming in gorgeous Torch Lake, shopping local markets, tubing down the Platt River, too much to mention it all. We will long remember this special place and look forward to when we can return."

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay so I'll keep it short and sweet. The location was beautiful, the cabin in great condition stocked with any amenity you could need, and Barbara was incredibly kind and helpful. Motorcycle friendly to boot! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much Barbara for allowing us this opportunity to stay at this place of perfection.
I stayed in one of Barbara's cabins for 2 weeks, the Hidden Oak Cabin. It was absolutely perfect! It had to be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable 2 weeks of my life. The cabin is in excellent condition, tucked away from any commotion, and has everything you need. I especially enjoyed the beautiful deck and grill where I made most of my meals. The fire pit was wonderful and is secluded, nestled under a canopy of hardwoods. I made short daily walks to the beach, and really enjoyed all of the hiking trails within close proximity to the cabins. It is so peaceful, it was extremely hard to get stressed out in this type of environment. The owner is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and is very accommodating, will do whatever it takes to make your stay as wonderful as possible. I can't wait to come back later this Summer, THANK YOU Barbara!
My wife and I stayed here for three nights and it was absolutely perfect. The location in the woods was very peaceful, while still being close to the lake and within biking/driving distance of small towns (the Thursday Farmer's Market in Alden was especially fun!). We rented a boat for an afternoon to take in the beauty of Torch Lake (recommended!), and also enjoyed relaxing down time around the cabin, on the deck and in the hammock (also recommended!). The owner, Barbara, was also very helpful in giving guidance on where to go and what to do in the area. We had an altogether excellent stay!
In short, we were blown away with how amazing this rental turned out to be. We stayed in the "Hidden Oak Cabin" but this is only a part of the wonderful atmosphere they have created on their property. The cabin was perfect. Everything we needed was provided for and the cabin itself was clean and cozy. The property and location are absolutely perfect. Just a short walk to the waterfront, but the cabins themselves are located in the woods and have a wonderful "secluded/private" feeling to them. There is a nice deck for grilling and lounging, a hammock in the trees and a perfect setup for having a campfire. We loved our stay. All attractions and amenities are near by, so it really was the perfect spot. We rented a boat and spent a day on Torch Lake (highly recommended), we were only a 20 minute drive from Elk Rapids (beautiful beach and harbor town) and only about 35-45 minutes from Traverse City. We loved everything about our stay, we will definitely be going back, and will most likely be making it an annual trip.
What a delightful place - a cozy wooden cabin just steps from Torch Lake. It's clean and well maintained, with a warm comfortable bed. I spent hours on the veranda reading and admiring the trees. Wonderful. Torch Lake, absolutely gorgeous. Loved everything about our stay.
This cabin was the perfect place for us. We could relax in peace and quiet on the deck or in the hammock if desired. We could also take part in the many activities the area has to offer. It was close enough to everything. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and full of character and charm. We would definitely return.
