|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
This new, luxurious chalet is nestled at the edge of the Blue Ridge Parkway on a very quiet 1/2+ acre wooded property in the city limit. The location offers the convenience of a short drive to downtown Asheville and immediate access to the countryside.
You will be 3 min to a Blue Ridge Parkway access, less than 3 miles to I40, 5 min to downtown shops and restaurants via expressway 240, 4.1 miles to the Biltmore Estate, and walking distance to the fabulous Folk Art Center!
There is plenty of opportunity for hiking or biking on forest trails and on country roads without using your car...
In fact, the Mountain to Sea trail is right there and you could take a hike to the highest peak East of the Mississippi from your door step! Biking on the nearby country roads is also a treat; take a look for instance at the pastoral Warren Wilson College campus, just a healthy ride away.
The chalet is suitable for a couple (very comfortable queen size bed) and a loft can accommodate up to 2 children as needed. There is a fully equipped kitchen, full size bath, and private, covered deck. Our living space is non-smoking and we strive to make it as healthy and relaxing as we would like it to be for our own vacations. The hot water is solar heated, the paints are non VOC, and the woodwork is locally and custom made.
Equipment includes wireless internet access, 46' HD TV, CD, DVD, Blue-ray, MP3 and USB player.
The chalet has a washer and dryer for your convenience.
There is ample cabinetry and shelf space available and the kitchen is supplied with high quality appliances/utensils so that cooking is not just an option! Please, inquire by email if you'd like to view more pictures or if you have specific questions.
We also offer guests discount tickets for Biltmore Estate and for ultimate comfort we arrange for professional massage therapy on site. A sauna / tylarium is also available in the guest room. Please, inquire at time of reservation or a few days before arrival.
We trust you will enjoy quality time and appreciate the convenience of our chalet!
Swangit and Jean-Jacques, long time residents of Asheville. Enjoy nature, quiet, gardening and sunshine!
Jean-Jacques purchased this chalet in 2010
We made this chalet available for vacation rental in 2010 after careful consideration for the ease of access to numerous touristic destinations.
The location is ideal for a vacation rental because of it's proximity to what Asheville has to offer as a vibrant, liveable, and diverse community and ease of access to year round fun and enjoyment in the surrounding area. One can't help but feel deeply touch by the natural beauty of this region...and you will be able to walk from the chalet to appreciate it!
Our craftsman chalet is unique in its construction and style which makes for something special for your visit. You will feel at home with both privacy and proximity to everything to make the most out of your stay in Asheville. You will find the chalet most welcoming and comfortable on your return from day trips.
Since we live next door, we are often available to help immediately if you need.
Being on this side of town, you will not be slowed down by heavy traffic, making your stay all the more relaxing.
The sauna is always available to guests and we will arrange for professional massage on site as well. You might also appreciate being a mile away from a Blue Ridge Pkwy access.
While on our 20th anniversary get-a-way trip to Asheville, my husband and I stayed in this beautiful, well appointed, cozy chalet. We enjoyed using the sauna in the evenings and felt indulged with the radiant floor heating in the bathroom. There are several options for entertainment provided in the chalet-large screen TV, movies, music, and the sauna but we just enjoyed the reading on the porch! The property is located in a quiet neighborhood that is convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, downtown, and the Biltmore Estate. A few local eateries that are close by that we highly recommend are The Korea House (downtown), the East Village Grill (Tunnel Rd)and The Copper Crown (Tunnel Rd). Jean-Jacque was very gracious and helpful. We would definitely recommend this property for a couple's weekend away and would not hesitate to stay here again!
I will agree with the glowing reviews of Jean-Jacques' wonderful retreat. We found it to be immaculately clean (yay!!) and cozy with beautiful craftsmanship in all the finishings. I took pictures to use as inspiration for a future remodel! So nice to have towels, linens, soaps and paper goods provided. Although my husband's conference was at the Grove Park Inn where most attendees stayed, we preferred something more private with a kitchen and access to nature and this place fit the bill beautifully. It was a bonus that we could bring our pooch with us! And the bonus that I didn't anticipate was the sighting of a mama bear with 3 cubs in tow crossing a nearby road one morning while out on a walk! Tips for future visitors--be sure to find out from Jean-Jacques where to pick up the trails because it is not obvious; if you want to dine nearby I highly recommend the Copper Crown; and if you're thirsty, check out Highland Brewery, also not far away.
The chalet is a perfect fit for a small family looking to get away. Walking distance to hiking trails and mountains, and just a short drive to Biltmore Estate and downtown. The chalet itself is very peaceful, and has all the furnishings to make it a quaint home away from home. The sauna and attached room are very relaxing. Highly recommend to small family's and romantic getaways!
First off - Jean-Jacques is fantastic. The house - incredible! You are no more than 15 minutes away from mostly everything that Asheville has to offer food downtown, hiking trails (from your doorstep), and of course the Biltmore mansion, and it doesn't feel like 15 minutes either. Who doesn't love traveling through the Great Smokey Mountains (we are beach dwellers) to get to your amazing vacation destination, accessibility was fantastic. Of course I should write how amazing the house was too. Immaculate to say the least. Everything was thought of, the kitchen had all of the utensils that you could think of...if you have been to a 'fully outfitted' house before you know that is not always the case, this house was truly outfitted. The bed is comfortable, the breakfast nook was so awesome for some early morning coffee, and the bathroom was fantastic! It even has a heated floor...come on who has that...what a treat! (O yeah it was 3 degrees outside when we were there, so floor heaters were awesome) Unfortunately for us, we did not stay long enough to take advantage of the sauna and the home visit massage, but if the house is any indication - it is probably amazing. I would recommend this highly for a romantic get away. Finally, it is pet friendly and you wouldn't be able to tell - people are very responsible with their animals, and the house doesn't feel like any of our four legged fury friends have stayed there before.
Thank you for the hospitality!
We love the two nights we stayed at the chalet. Jean-Jacques keeps the place incredibly clean and tidy. The surrounding garden is incredible, and the BRP green-way is across the street. Perfect for couples and small families.
I really loved this cabin. My family (two adults, two kids) stayed here for one night between two far-apart destinations during a long trip, and it was truly restful, welcoming, and comfortable. The sauna is just right after a morning workout. Every little detail in the house is extremely well thought-out and planned; every appliance, device, fitting, fixture, what-have-you is beautiful and works very well. There was a funky and thoughtful collection of movies and music on hand for us to enjoy. I wish I'd stayed longer and done some cooking; the kitchen looked like I could have gone to town. Lots of utensils and dishes that one doesn't normally see in little rental places. I loved the smell of natural cleaning products -- the place was immaculate. Looking at all the thought that went into sustainability and low-impact living was entertaining and gave me some great ideas for my own home. Space is tight, but not cramped. It's efficient and fun. And beautiful.
The Biltmore Estate, Fine art galleries, live music and dance, Botanical Garden, fly-fishing, Nature Center, Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center, UNC Arboretum are all within minutes drive.
