As a native of Montana, I was raised with sweeping prairies and rugged mountains. The Paul Ranch is 160 acres of natural beauty and I can't imagine living anywhere else. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing this peaceful and spectacular setting. Rick and Kathy, your hosts, will personalize your stay to make it one to remember. Come stay with us a while...
The unique benefits of the Ranch include the wildlife that inhabit the property, the pair of red tailed hawks that take up residency every year, the awesome mountain vistas, the clean air, the clear night sky, the get-away-from-it-all setting. Hearing the morning and evening sounds from the wetlands conservation area that borders the property will connect you with nature and refresh your spirit.
The views really are beautiful from the property.
The good: The caretakers were very friendly and seemed ready to help with whatever we needed. The place was clean, spacious, warm (chilly weather!) and the beds were comfortable. Lots of clean towels. The washer and dryer worked fine. The front deck is a lovely place to be for a meal or happy hour. The location is great for getting to Waterton and Many Glaciers. Some (not us) would find the daily housekeeping to be a bonus.
The bad: Several of the windows are "blown", making it hard to see clearly out of them - a problem when you are keeping a sharp eye out for wildlife or trying to enjoy the view. The fireplace wasn't working when we were there. The caretaker offered to try to fix it but we were comfortable and decided it wasn't necessary. The kitchen utensils/cutlery/pots and pans could use an upgrade. They could particularly use some sharp knives and decent pans. We ate every meal in, so would have appreciated better tools to work with.
Bottom line? The weather was very dreary when we arrived, with low clouds obscuring most everything. Under those circumstances we were somewhat disappointed with the place initially because the views really are the best part. After staying there comfortably for two nights we woke to blue skies and the views that we were expecting. We would have to say that it definitely felt overpriced, but that is probably a function of supply and demand. Didn't pay for the WiFi (hey, we were on vacation) but agree that it should be included.
The $5 a day for the WiFi should be included in the price.
Barbara Paul's home was full of interesting artwork, immaculate, had the most comfortable beds, laundry facilities, and everything we could possibly want. The caretakers were very helpful and fun to talk to. We enjoyed the deck, the open space and the wildlife. Thank you so much for sharing your home!
This was a great place to stay on the east side of Glacier National Park - very close to Many Glacier and about 15 minutes from the St. Mary entrance. The house was extremely clean and the caretakers visited everyday to make the beds and take out the trash while we were out. Besides the views, I loved seeing the alpacas and other wildlife. As a wildlife photography enthusiast, I was amazed as the diversity of birds that visited the nearby wetlands (ducks, coots, Canadian geese, song birds, an owl and I believe 2 golden eagles or hawks). On the last morning of our stay 5 elk came out of the woods to briefly munch on the wildflowers in the early morning sunlight. What a treat!
The house is more remote than the other accommodations around, but I liked the serenity of waking up to the cows mooing and the homey feeling! Plus having laundry facilities helped to ease the transition back to reality after our vacation since I didn't come home with a mountain of dirty laundry :-)
We were 2 adults and 2 kids under 6 and very happy at the ranch. There was more than enough space, housekeeping every day a huge plus. The property managers are extremely responsive - our battery was dead on the second day and Gene responded to our call for help in less than 15 min. Great space for a family.
The house was clean and well cared for, kitchen had everything we needed, useful to have laundry too! Beautiful view from windows! Care takers were so very kind and helpful!! First time for us to receive home-made cookies as a welcome at a VRBO- nice touch!
