Our Prince Kuhio #211 is a large 1 bedroom condo with unobstructed ocean views through Prince Kuhio memorial Park located on the sunny south shore of Poipu Beach. The beach is so close you can hear the ocean waves at night while you sleep!
Prince Kuhio Condos has only 71 condos and is nestled between Kauai's beautifully landscaped Prince Kuhio Park on one side and a lush, tropical garden and pool on the other side. From wall-to-wall windows in the bedroom, there are ocean views, park views, mountain views, and a view of the sunrise! The living room has a great view of the pool and garden through large picture windows!
There are two sandy beaches in front of the condo. Prince Kuhio beach has excellent swimming, snorkling, and diving and is famous for the sea turtles you swim with while snorkling. Sometimes you can also see whales breaching and frolicking in the distance. The other, Lawai beach, is one of the islands top snorkling beaches but also has 3 prime surf spots: PK's, Centers, and Acid Drop. The surfers and body boarders are regulars at this beach.
Entertainment is within minutes of this centrally located condo. Two golf courses are less than five minutes away - Kiahuna Country Club, and the championship Poipu Bay Resort Course - site of the 1998 and 1999 PGA Grand Slam of Golf. For open ocean dives, as well as sport fishing, sailing, and ocean tours, go to the nearby Kukuiula Harbor for charters. Tennis lessons, matches, or round robins can be arranged at either the Kiahuna Tennis Club, Poipu Kai Resort, or the Hyatt Hotel Tennis Club - all within a short five minute drive.
A variety of restaurants and shops are a few minutes away in Old Koloa Town (circa. 1830) or the Poipu Shopping Village. Also dinner is served right next door at the Beach House Restaurant - highly rated for good food and magnificent Poipu sunset. The Kauai Visitor Information for the South Shore lists many of the attractions in the immediate area.
Inside Prince Kuhio Resort #211, you will enjoy a modern condo. Below is a list of ammenities that make this vacation rental so unique:
o Location: The resort is only a few yards from popular Kauai South Shore beaches with fantastic snorkling and surfing. Also, it is central to most of the island's activities.
o Views: The ocean is only 50 yards away from the bedroom windows and the lanai. The ocean view is unobstructed since there is nothing between you and the ocean but the park and a few palm trees. There are also excellent views of mountains and the park from the bedroom. The tropical garden comes right up to the large picture window in the living room and you have a great view of the pool.
o Bright and Airy: Wall-to-wall windows in the bedroom and a large picture window in the living room.
o Tropical Living: There is a continuous breeze from the trade winds that flows from the bedroom thru the condo and out the living room.
o Friendly and Cozy: There are only 71 units in this friendly resort.
o Swimming pool: The swimming pool is surrounded by a tropical garden and ponds.
o Tropical Garden: There is a large tropical garden with many varieties of palm trees and rare, exotic plants.
o Park: The large historical Prince Kuhio Park borders one entire side of the resort.
o Large Bedroom: With wall-to-wall windows, the bedroom is large, bright, airy and has a king size bed and sliding glass doors to the patio. The patio has a view of the ocean, park, and mountains.
o Location: We have been vacationing in Kauai since 1984 and it didn't take us long to decide that we like this area and Prince Kuhio Resort the best. We eventually bought our condo in February, 2000 and we stay here ourselves as often as we can!
Thank you Jack & Dorinda for a well-equipped and centrally located home away from home. This was our first visit to Kauai and definitely will not be our last. Accompanied by the very helpful Ultimate Guide to Kauai, we covered all ends of the island. Waimea was so remarkable, we went twice! We also enjoyed watching the pro surfers (and saw Bethany Hamilton) at Kalihiwai. Beautiful weather. Great condo, perfect vacation! We'll be back!
The accommodation met all of our needs and expectations. Great location. Jack and Dorinda are gracious hosts. We definitely recommend this place and hope to return soon.
We stayed at Jack and Dorinda's for a few nights in November. The condo is very clean and cozy, the bed is also quite comfortable! We could see the sunrise from the window in the bedroom, which was lovely. Had a fantastic stay!
The location was great. We enjoyed the view of the ocean and the park while we sat on the deck. The grounds were very beautiful and tropical.

The location is just perfect. Not only is the ocean on the other side of the road enabling romantic walks in the evening, but the island's Poipu beach is a 5-10min drive away from this place. The location is also great to visit the Weimea canyon and rather close by to the airport. Driving just out of the road (Lawai Rd) to the roundabout (3min drive) you can get to a large complex offering dining and shopping facilities including a big super market.
As for the condo itself, it comes with everything you need during your stay. Beyond the normal appliances and usual things you need, what we found great was the two beach chairs in the closet. We used them several times when going to the beach. This was really convenient given as tourist you really need these but would not buy them. We had not found beach chairs in some other condos we had rented in the past.
The condo is overall very nicely decorated and has an Hawaiian ambience enhancing your stay.
Hawaii is not the place you go and still wan to catch up with work... but depending on your job, it unfortunately may happen. We were glad to find out that the internet connection is very fast and reliable and there is even a landline phone. Now, I know you may not necessarily need that nowadays. However, as international travellers receiving calls on our mobile phones would have been very expensive and it happened that I had to receive an important biz call. So being able to provide a local US number was a very positive thing.
Parking is just in front of the condo on the ground floor, again super convenient rather than making long walk. There is also a BBQ pit (although we did not use it as we ate mostly dinners outside ...but we saw other neighbours enjoying the occasional BBQ).
We look forward to visiting again one day! :-)
The location was superb!! Very close to the beach, which we could hear at night while sleeping. Great view from both the lanai and livingroom.
The condo was simple, but clean and well-maintained. The owners gave very good instructions as to location, layout, etc. We arrived at night and we were able to find the property without any problems.
The parking was free and ample. We used the BBQ a lot and the pool area was nice. The whole area around the complex was very beautiful and lush.
We would definitely recommend the condo to friends and family.
We loved our stay in Kauai - the island was beautiful, with lots to do and see. My favourite Island so far!! Can't wait to go again in the near future, despite the rain during our week stay.
