Great Place to stay in North Shore

  • 5 of 5

My family (my parents, younger brother, and myself) truly enjoyed our stay at this studio. Pictures look exactly like what you'll find in the studio. The studio was very clean and had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Anne was very welcoming and friendly prior to our arrival and during our stay. i would definitely recommend this place to those who are looking for a quiet, peaceful place that's close to many attractions.

great family accommodation

  • 5 of 5

This studio is in a lovely quiet location in the North Shore you will need a car to get to the big surf beaches, but they are easily accessed from here. Our boys loved the space outside, we also loved the amount of space inside for an apartment. The owners were super friendly and very helpful with local advice.

Great North Shore getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a real North Shore experience that is unlike typical hotels and condos at a resort. You need to find your own fun, be it snorkeling, beach combing, hiking, etc. But it will be a much more authentic experience. It is quieter and more secluded than something in town, but also lacks some conveniences. You will probably fall asleep to the wind in the trees, and wake up to a roster calling, and there might be fresh fruit on the trees. But you should expect to make your own coffee, and fix most of your own meals in the more than adequate kitchen. There is a grocery store and coffee shop at the bottom of the hill, but there is not much more without driving to the next town. And it is a long enough trek up and down the hill that you will probably not want to run back and forth a lot.

If you do want a nice restaurant meal, there are some nice restaurants in the nearby town of Haleiwa, or in The Turtle Bay Resort. But a great meal can be found in more rustic surroundings from the local food trucks. Two of them were parked just a short distance from Foodland. I think they were The Sharks Cove Grill, and The Galley. I had a shrimp dinner at The Galley that was equal to anything you might find at the best restaurant in town, but for a more modest price. At least more modest by Hawaii standards, as everything on the islands is a bit more expensive.

All in all, a great way to get away from the rest of the tourist scene. Just be aware up front what that means.

Spacious and impeccably clean condo on a lush property.

  • 5 of 5

This hilltop rental sits on a large property with well-maintained grounds of palm trees, tropical plants and fruit trees. The residential neighborhood is quiet with a country feel to it. There are horse barns, riding ranches and hiking trails in the vicinity. Foodland is conveniently located at the foot of the hill that has just about everything, including a coffee shop and DVD rental kiosk (RedBox.) Across the road is Pupukea Beach Park with parking. From there you can walk on the long stretch beaches of North Shore. Waimea Bay is a short drive, as is Haleiwa Town with restaurants, art galleries and souvenir shops.

The unit was immaculate with a well-stocked kitchen and a recently remodeled bathroom. We found the place airy, bright, comfortable and spacious for our family of four. We especially liked the living room with tall windows and a high ceiling. Windows all around let the trade winds constantly flowing in the unit, keeping the place cool even in the summer. The owners were very friendly, helpful and approachable. Our family had a fun and restful stay and hope to return in the future.

Our first vacation in Hawaii.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying in the studio. It fit all our family very comfortably, and the place was bigger then we thought. It was very clean and well kept. Ann and Alan were kind and helpful to us being new in Hawaii. They gave us ideas and helpful hints. We recommend this place to everyone who visits Hawaii, especially the North Shore. We will recommend to visit the Polynesian Center, and dine at the Seven Brothers burgers that are so delicious. Also Ted's Bakery makes the best pies and shrimp.

Our son Ben had the best time surfing at Pipeline and Rocky Point and more.

Did I mention paradise?

  • 5 of 5

We have been remiss for not doing this sooner. Too busy shoveling snow (if you are from the midwest, you get it). We were only able to survive this past winter living on the fond memories of the time we spent on the North Shore of Oahu as guests of Anne and Alan in late December 2013.

We were welcome at arrival like old friends and made to feel right at home. They saw to our every need and provided us with very helpful suggestions on things to see and do. A better location for a vacation getaway you will not find. Less than five minutes drive to Kamehameha Highway, a full service (wonderful!) grocery store and coffee shop. The spectacular North Shore is at your door step. What they say about winter on the North Shore is true. The waves were a sight to behold. Not to worry, Oahu is an island! A short drive and you are in the water somewhere else.

At the end of the day, the solitude of a mountain retreat is yours. Despite the proximity to the highway the change in elevation made it seem as if all that tourism was five hours away instead of five minutes.

The studio - truly a misnomer as another reviewer put it, was spacious. A full kitchen, single bath with shower, two queen size beds and a futon for our night owl son. WiFi, cable, was BETTER than home!

When we visit Hawaii again, this is where we will stay. Did I mention the bananas? Alan supplied us with site grown fruit. Until you have eaten one of these (who can eat just one?) you have not eaten a banana! Mahalo Anne and Alan!
