About Kyle

Hi, I am Kyle Rhoads and I usually respond to rental inquiries. The cottage is family-owned with my parents, Cathy and Rich Rhoads, as the caretakers. My wife, Carrie, and my sister, Lynley, often help keep the cottage maintained and cleaned. We are family of educators with my parents both retired educators. I am a Principal of a local elementary school and my sister and wife are both counselors in schools. We love this location for the family memories, the peaceful living and our love for watersports. My Dad loves to fish and often helps renters know where to find the best spots to catch 'the big one' that did not get away!

Kyle purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Kyle chose Sebago Lakes Region

Our family bought the cottage to have a place for present and future generations of our family to relax and enjoy the summer months on the water in Maine. Because of taxes and the mortgage payments, we rent the cottage so we can keep the cottage owned by our family.

What makes this cottage unique

The enclosed porch is a great spot to sip coffee and read a book without the worry of a mosquito! The natural smell of pine needles helps you relax and remember the true beauty of the Maine landscape. The cottage is well-maintained and kept clean but the interior makes you feel that you went back in time!

QUIET True Maine Place!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed here several times and truly enjoy the cabin. It is very well made up and has a wonderful screeened porch to enjoy the cool night air without the bugs. Kyle is a great host and very friendly. They are pet friendly and my pet loved it here. The cabin has everything you need, just bring sheets and your clothing and food. I would definately come back!

A wonderful Maine escape!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently stayed here, and had such a memorable vacation! The location was perfect, nice and quiet but close to amazing restaurants and shops. The cabin was very clean and well kept. Kyle and his parents are very pleasant and welcoming. There are many amenities included, such as a pass to the state park that is very close by and definitely worth a visit. As other reviews have mentioned, the cabin has a very well stocked kitchen and lots of fans. The pictures and listing information provide an accurate description of the property. Kyle was speedy in returning our security deposit. We can't wait to go back!

A true Maine gem!

  • 5 of 5

The owners have overlooked no details here!

I stayed here with my aging parents and my 9 year old daughter. The house itself is perfect. It's conveniently located to many stores and restaurants but far enough away to have complete peace and quiet and privacy. Sebago Lake State Park is 2 miles away. The owners have provided many amenities of home; box fans, a well stocked kitchen, board games, lots of lighting, canoe, plenty of seating by a fire pit and much more.

The house was immaculate when we arrived. The yard is well kept and a nice mix of sun and shade. Swimming is available completely by a dock entry but we didn't mind. The neighbors were very kind and offered us their beach. The canoe was not difficult to get in or out of the water. In fact, I managed it by myself.

The river had a nice slow current and we loaded up into rafts and traveled it down to Sebago Lake which made for a perfect afternoon.

If value is what you're looking for, this is it. You cannot beat the house, the location, the warm welcome... The only thing I would do different is plan on recycling. We used paper plates all week and I felt badly about the trash we accumulated. There is a generous shed on the property with plenty of room to sort your recycling.

Had a great vacation. We love using VRBO. we have used this site for many vacation rentals. Can't wait for next year.

A great place to kick back and relax

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing place to go on vacation and we found it. The cabin is very cute and loved the enclosed front porch, a great place to have morning coffee. We were able to take our dogs and that was a plus for us. Not too far the town and only a 45 minute to the city of Portland where we had a great boat ride. All in all a great place to vacation!

The area is truly a four season delight! In the summer, many vacationers visit the Lake Region to fish, boat, sightsee, kayak, canoe, and just relax on one of the many bodies of water. In the fall, the region is known for wonderful fall foliage. Hunters visit to hunt for various game such as deer and turkey. In the winter, vacationers come for the snow for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing. The Crooked River provides you boat access to Sebago Lake, Brandy Pond and Long Lake.

The cottage is approximately a 2 hour drive from Boston. The cottage is a 30 minute drive to Pleasant Mountain, 45 minute drive to the ocean and an hour drive to Sunday River Mountain. During all seasons, anglers of all ages fish for landlocked salmon, bass, lake trout, and brook trout. A unique feature of the area is the Songo Locks, one of the last remaining functioning locks to connect two bodies of water. If the week you want is unavailable, please inquire about the sister property.

Other Activities: kayaking, canoeing, boating, snowmobiling, x-country skiing
